I'm very excited for Christmas this year and have started to pick up presents for my dd (2.8)

Nothing that will date and nothing character branded as she changes her mind like the wind.

Mainly board games, play doh, wooden toys and jigsaw puzzles at the minute.

My dh thinks I'm mad for starting this early (normally July) has any one else started?

I start in Jan. It's wrapped up in my loft. I keep lots of lists so I know what I bought and what colour paper everyone has

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 15:09

Red- wow that's organised!

I love to wrap mine infront of the tree with a glass of mulled wine and a Christmas movie :)

i've bought a couple of things from argos while they were on offer. a little tikes till reduced to £6 and a hamster pets thing (not even sure what it is Grin) reduced from £50 to £10. don't have anybody specific in mind but got loads of kids in the family so they'll go to good use. i've never started this early, ever!

elQuintoConyo · 16/05/2017 15:19

I've had a relative visit from a foteign land with a fuckton of gifts for DS. We didn't actually have time to give him all of them!

So 4 have gone in the decorations box and will be plopped in his Christmas stocking.

I once bought a birthday gift in February for a friend with a December birthday Grin

Crack on, I say.

VapidVaper · 16/05/2017 15:24

We're taking her to Europe to see some pandas

That has got to be a PFB?!

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 15:29

*We're taking her to Europe to see some pandas

That has got to be a PFB?!*

I fail to see how this is relevant, she's our only child yes and we won't be blessed with a second.

I started my Christmas shopping in January. I have my ds done for Christmas got him an Xbox 360 with minecraft built in. Minecraft figures from aliexpress. Pie face game, superman car thing a robot you build and it talks, star light for his room, marvel game Pokemon for his ds, live pet, splash car set, ninjago Lego. Got him a hot wheels calendar was €15 down to €5. I got everything on sale the Xbox his uncle doesn't use anymore so said we could have it. Have all my nieces and nephews done too there's 12 of them. Have a dd got her a Peppa pig kitchen and buggy just one or too more bits and she's done. Have my wrapping paper too. I love Christmas

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 16:10

Unbelievable

SexandDrugsandaNiceCuppa · 16/05/2017 16:13

Surely a hot wheels calendar for this year will not work next year? All the days and dates will not match up?

Watto1 · 16/05/2017 16:16

I started on Dec 27th! Sainsburys were selling wrapping paper and Christmas crackers for next to nothing. I have also been buying a few stocking fillers as and when I see them. I bought a reduced game of Twister only this morning to hide away in my wardrobe. I find buying a few bits here and there throughout the year makes it easier on my pocket come December.

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 16:17

Watto- that's how I feel re spreading the costs, I am careful with what I buy though and only things that dd will get use out of and things that won't date

OP posts:
ilovetea14 · 16/05/2017 16:41

Sorry advent hotwheels car.

elQuintoConyo · 16/05/2017 16:43

Nice, Vapid Hmm

glenthebattleostrich · 16/05/2017 16:47

Yep, got the advent calendar in February and the table games end of December.

I buy bits in the sales through the year as I have a massive family so need to!

TiggeryBear · 16/05/2017 16:50

I've bought DD & DNephew a Christmas present already! They were fisher price toys in the sale as they are being discontinued. Seemed too good to miss.

PandaEyes25 · 16/05/2017 16:51

I started months ago.
Only things that were in the sale/ on offer that i didn't want to miss out on though, mind.
I got a beautiful Baylis and Harding Set from Superdrug for £2.99- supposed to be £12.99 that was a price glitch.
Little sets for my nieces which were also about £2.99 instead of a tenner.
The top of my wardrobe is already full with presents.
I think it's wise to space out your spending.
I know that come December, I'll have forgotten what I've actually got though!

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 16:52

So glad it's not just me that loves to start early!

OP posts:
Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 16:53

Panda - I have a list in the notes app on my phone and I keep a spreadsheet to track my spending so I don't go ott

OP posts:
PandaEyes25 · 16/05/2017 16:55

Nic Ooh that's a good idea! Loving the spreadsheet- very organised!!

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 16:57

Panda - I learned my lesson with my nieces in previous years where id overspent on one and massively under spent on the other and had to shop to even it out

Just head over to the Christmas board OP, tbf it really isn't fair to inflict christmas on to those who don't want to see/hear about it in May.
I mean who would want to discuss or even think about Christmas in May.
Not me.
Nope.
I never lurk on the Christmas board....Blush.

Lolly34h · 16/05/2017 17:00

I've just found out I'm expecting my 3rd child in late January and although I love Christmas shopping in nov/Dec I'm planning on having it all done and paid for for the beginning of Oct! Babies ain't cheap lol. I do have 3 presents already for the other 2 though x

Nicpem1982 · 16/05/2017 17:03

a1sharon - this IS the Christmas board

OP posts:
Equimum · 16/05/2017 17:04

Erm, yes, I have Blush. DS1 loves magformers and Smyths toys has one of the biggish sets for less than half price last week. He has a December birthday, so it's the first opportunity to give him a big present.
