We're buying ours a phone, she wasn't supposed to have one until she was 11 but that isn't until July so we relented and have bought one early.
She also has a totoro hoodie, loads of books, a couple of DS games and some Lego dimensions figures.

SixtyDegreesNorth · 11/12/2016 20:25

Our ten year old is getting some equipment related to the sport she does. Unfortunately it is so expensive that she isn't getting much else - a few books etc. But she will be delighted with it, so all will be well.

Garnelian · 11/12/2016 22:32

Ooh what is it treaclesoda [nosey]

heymammy · 11/12/2016 22:33

Dd2 is getting:
VR glasses
Lego creator set
Pokemon 3ds game
Mio robot thing
Pikachu onesie
Tom Gates audio CDs
Rollerblades

TheRollingCrone · 11/12/2016 22:37

Garnelian I picture treacle "How the fuck am I supposed to wrap the hooves?" Grin

treaclesoda · 11/12/2016 22:55

Grin at wrapping a pony.

No, nothing so exciting, it's just gymnastics stuff. I just referred to it as 'the sport she does' because giving a ten year old a load of random gymnastics equipment would seem a bit of a crap present to most of them I suppose!

FanDabbyFloozy · 11/12/2016 23:00

Sgtmajormummy · 11/12/2016 23:13

I'm toying with the idea of a Kindle Fire for DD. If I do her brother will hit the roof (although he got a Play Station Portable at the same age).

The thing is, our portable DVD player has died and it's a bit "old tech" to buy a replacement. She could download films for the whole family and save us trips to the video rental place. She's also an avid reader and could download books in seconds rather than having them on my iPad.

BUT I'm afraid it would be opening the floodgates to tech obsession which she's dodged so far. I know there are parental controls etc but it seems very risky. I'll wait for opinions.

Apart from that, she's asked for The Cursed Child, a box of magic tricks and a set of Jacks (playground toy). She's also getting a fleecy dressing gown, the second illustrated Harry Potter book and some assorted tat!

FanDabbyFloozy · 11/12/2016 23:20

Sgtmajormummy It's a brilliant first tablet in my opinion. You can set up the parental controls to limit time per day (and actual time periods like before 8pm), and also the content they see - books, videos, games etc. Highly recommend it for the paranoid (like me!).

Dancergirl · 11/12/2016 23:55

I've bought my nearly 10 year old dd a Kindle Fire.

The parental controls sounds good fan, is it all easy to set up? Should I get a case for it?

MandyFl0ss · 12/12/2016 00:51

What is Zoella?

OP posts:
ShanghaiDiva · 12/12/2016 01:08

Horse riding stuff (not a pony. She has one of
Those!)

TheRollingCrone · 12/12/2016 09:58
