What are you eating on Christmas Eve?

Looking for some inspiration. We're having traditional Christmas food on Christmas day itself, (and again on Boxing day when we are visiting DH's family), but am unsure what to do for food on Christmas Eve. We're just eating at home so just me, DH and toddler DD1 to feed, so don't want to do loads. What are you having?

I plan to have a liquid lunch Xmas Wink

Kranksy · 08/12/2016 19:13

Not sure about lunch but in the evening when dc are in bed me and dh will have mini homemade pasties, sausage rolls and maybe a cheese board.

MoonHare · 08/12/2016 19:13

Were having lasagne but there will be 7 of us rather than just your 3, but how about an easy pasta meal?

Ceaser1981 · 08/12/2016 19:15

Dominos, easy and no washing up

StarSpotter · 08/12/2016 19:15

Last year, I bought different packs of picky party food from Tesco and we ate it in front of the telly. Was great!

AndNowItsSeven · 08/12/2016 19:16

Takeaway.

GeekyWombat · 08/12/2016 19:17

KFC. It's a family tradition. Apparently it's a thing they do in Japan too...

Bobsmum02 · 08/12/2016 19:17

KFC so there is no washing up....it's a tradition of ours!!

sonlypuppyfat · 08/12/2016 19:18

Duck always roast duck with Chinese pancakes and hoisin sauce

GetOutMyCar · 08/12/2016 19:20

Christmas ham, chips and peas. Followed by mince pies and cream. Same as always.

KitKat1985 · 08/12/2016 19:21

Take-away or picky party food sounds good. I'm looking for something not requiring too much effort to be honest as we've recently had DD2 (currently a month old) so easy options are appealing. Whatever we have will have to washed down with a large glass of Baileys though. Xmas Grin

Always a Chinese take away Smile

Narnian · 08/12/2016 19:23

We always roast a big joint of beef on Christmas eve. We then have it hot on freshly baked bread - either homemade or from the baker's depending on how busy I am!

CleverQuacks · 08/12/2016 19:25

Steak and home made chips! It's a Christmas tradition and I look forward to it more than Christmas dinner.

P1nkP0ppy · 08/12/2016 19:25

Salmon, new potatoes and salad followed by homemade trifle or tiramisu.

Fantasticmissfoxy · 08/12/2016 19:26

Baked Camembert with French bread

Game pie, mash and green beans

Amaretto syllabub

Honeyandfizz · 08/12/2016 19:27

We always go to pizza express on Xmas eve using Tesco vouchers that I save.

Randytortoise · 08/12/2016 19:27

Fish and chips from the chip shop

ChangedToday · 08/12/2016 19:28

It's DH's birthday so we'll have salmon en croute followed by a big birthday cake

AllTheBabies · 08/12/2016 19:29

Rudolf baked potatoes. Baked potatoes hollowed out and mixed with butternut squash then put back in the cases with cheese melted on top. Cherry tomato nose, twiglet antlers and peppercorn eyes.

We have them every year, keeps the children happy!

drspouse · 08/12/2016 19:30

We always have a white fish with a parmesan crust from a Delia book, and rice pudding. Fish is traditional in a lot of cultures, and we love rice pudding plus it's traditional in Scandinavia where we have connections.
We've been married 12 years and have had it every year except the one we were in Mexico. DH acted all puzzled when I told him (but he does make Christmas dinner, he does a good roast, and I'm sure he'd tell you we ALWAYS have XYZ)

FreeButtonBee · 08/12/2016 19:31

Lasagne here. Already made and in the freezer. It's a proper full on cooked for hours Raghu and proper bechamel one so I can't wait.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 08/12/2016 19:32

Always have pork pie, pickled onions, cheese and crackers etc. And fizz!

Soozikinzi · 08/12/2016 19:34

We also always have steak and chia easy and nothing hangs around when you want a clear kitchen xx

Soozikinzi · 08/12/2016 19:35

Steak and chips I mean!
