Colours and theme for Christmas tree

Anyone fancy sharing their colours and themes for Christmas decor?! Particularly your trees?

I chose mine based on rooms because I like a variety so we have very classic red and gold in the hallway - lots of holly, mistletoe and classic Santas etc.

We have a tree in the sunroom which DS decorates with our Disney decorations and lots of multicoloured felt decorations.

My main tree I have done the last few years in pale pink and white with a bit of silver. It suits our colour scheme in the room and I love all my decorations but everywhere I look this year I see pink and white/silver! Any suggestions to change it up a bit by adding another colour which I can still use my pink/white with - was considering eggshell blue but not sure!?

My tree gets more chaotic every year...
It started with bright baubles, purple, cerise, turquoise... then we started collecting the glass ornaments from paperchase and random ornaments from other places and then last year our star broke so we topped the tree with a vintage Lion-O figure... it's got about 100 baubles and gaudy ornaments and doesn't match our decor at all, it looks like it fell over in a paperchase Christmas section and I love it!

Mine usually looks like I threw Santas Grotto at it, it's like Blackpool illuminations
I dont think I can do tasteful .
Though this year I'm getting a smallish real tree so I'm not sure if I'd throw as much at it.

The tree in my sitting room is very colour co ordinated. It's all done in silver and white and I'd very beautiful.

The tree in the dining room is the children's tree and quite frankly looks like a unicorn has vomited all over it. It's my favourite tree though because it has all the decorations the DC have made over the years so is full of memories.

We usually go for quite traditional red white and green, with cream lights. No tinsel as I hate it! I think one year I'd like to do something completely different but it would need to go with our living room which is cream and red.

Ours is a mixture of gold, champagne and rose gold and looks quite 'tasteful'.

I want to get some more decs this year though as I wonder if ours is a bit too plain.

I'm not allowed to do 'themed' apparently - I tried it once with our main tree with silver, white and blue, and DH and the DC were mortified - no exaggeration - and said it didn't look like Christmas

So now the theme is random tat of all colours

Lounge tree is traditional red and gold with warm white lights. The smaller one in the dining room/ playroom has base colours of gold, cream and dusky pink but is slowly being turned into the kids tree and has a nice collection of decorations DS has brought back from nursery. Will probably get them some outlandish lights for it next year.

Ours is blue and silver. Our living room is grey and blue so it goes with the decor.

I have a green tree, frosted white baubles, small silver disco balls and iceblue baules, some with gliter some with a foil effect. Blue berry lights, some old snowmen ornaments too. Tried changing to a nordic theme but i didnt like it as didnt seem wintery enough.

No themed trees. It's not John Lewis. Decorations gathered over the years. But have been on the poncetastic thread and will be attempting a wreath

Mine usually lasts oks like an Elf threw up on it!!
Actually most of our decorations are either made by the DC or souvenirs from so,where weve been so when I put them on the tree they bring back lovely memories. Not the most artist tree I've seen but I always love it

Mine is cerise pink, turquoise, purple and some silver. There is no tinsel, just loads and loads of baubles!! I would like to have a colour scheme change but the cost involved is putting me off!

Very traditional red, gold and green in our house. I love my tree! This year we're considering a cheap tree with felt/wooden decorations for the playroom - that will keep the 16 month and 3 year old off my tree right?

I go for totally random. inspired by my Dd. My sister managed a burgundy and gold theme every year with two boys so I suspect laziness and wish for chaos in my highly ordered life as my inspiration.

We have white and cream colours with lots of twiggy and knitted decorations, can't wait to put it up

Our main tree has a collection of mainly pale blue, red and white, with some random stuff thrown in to prevent it from looking to carefully themed. It has warm white lights and coloured lantern lights that look straight from the 80s.

Our secondary tree (I don't know where it goes yet as we're between houses!) has warm white lights and clear glass decorations, some with touches of gold, and some little gold wire stars.

DD's (3 foot) tree is pink with pink, white and purple decorations and some other random ones that we've picked out for her over the years.

DS's is blue with raindow coloured stuff. Neither of the kids' ones has lights (yet).

The one on my desk in work is silver wire with purple and teal baubles inside it.

I like christmast rather a lot.

Wow MsV, you have 3 trees? That must take days to assemble.

Ours is different shades of gold with a lot of tiny white lights and I can spend hours arranging the baubles until I'm happy with it from all angles.

I do that Ilostit! One year my sister had four trees!

Oh these all sound lovely We only moved in together 2 Christmases ago so tree decs bought from scratch then but I imagine as the years go by we will collect more random bits and pieces!

Yes ILostIt I am a Christmas tree addict it seems! It usually takes an entire weekend, I do a stair wreath too but the tree in the hallway isn't very big so doesn't take as long.

I do the bauble rearranging too - it's useful when I'm looking to avoid doing any real housework

I need a nice one for work this year but hoping for something small and pre decorated as can't be bothered with the faff in there!

Four trees is really extreme.

I'd have to take a week off work to get them all looking right. One is enough for me thanks. It takes me about an hour to untangle the bloody lights. Then another hour rearranging all the baubles and moving the ones the children put on.

We not having a tree this year . We don't stay at home for Christmas and with a very active just turned 1 year old boy, who has just decided to show me he's new trick of climbing onto the dining room table Came to the conclusion that we don't really trust him near a tree or anything that can fall down on him or that he can climb.
Although planning for next year a purple and gold tree or a rose gold and pink.

I tend to change ours around each year.

How about you buy some copper baubles and do copper and pink.

One of ours is going to be white, wood (got some new birch baubles this year) and copper with snowflakes all about the room. Not used white for a while so not sure how far they'll go.

The other is going to be "burgundy" (dark reds), gold and cream. With gold (probably) as a backdrop in the rest of the room as we have a lot of that colour.

Toying with idea of making my own popcorn and cranberry garlands and doing some dried orange / cinammon dangly things for the dining part of the room. (Know eldest would love to get involved in that.)

Hall will probably be a mish mash of all the bright colours I have.

I've only got one tree . Up until last Xmas it was quality street themed! Loads of jewel colours and extra tinsel.
Last year ( so ahead of this years trend..) I went Scandi chic . Reds, whites, a teeny bit of silver for sparkle and lots of knitted and wooden bits.
My 'star' is a cardboard Santa who gets more damp each year in storage. I'm sure soon he'll be looking as drunk as a skunk and horizontal on top of the tree!.
The rest of downstairs is like a working mans club, no minimalist here, more is more

Resolutely chaotic and vintage. (another box of vintage deckies just arrived from ebay )

Retro tinsel, and absolutely coloured lights. Red, green, yellow.
