I asked earlier about about everyone's favourite Christmas books, so thought I'd start a thread asking everyone what theirs and their children's favourite Christmas movies are.
Mine in the Santa Claus. So many good memories of watching it with my nan, all cosy at Christmas time. My 3 y/o dd became obsessed with home alone last Christmas.
I love being able to talk Christmas and not have eyes rolling Smile

Has anyone here watched Muppets Christmas at home?? We had it on vhs when I was small and so I have great memories of it and I found it on DVD too.

Also love home alone, love actually, the holiday. Any Christmas film really!

originalmavis · 07/09/2016 17:34

I took DS to the Christmas kids film club when he was little. I had to bribe him as he didn't and still doesn't like the Muppets. I swear that child was switched at birth. I have it in DVD in my Christmas movie stash that I bring our every year and it's never been watched. He will tolerate Elf and that's it. He prefers Home Alone 1, 2, 4, 4.....1million.

Home Alone & Elf all the way! My DD loved Arthur Christmas last year which was quite good....!

happsymum · 08/09/2016 02:43

elf
miracle on 34th street
and beethoven
in our house Grin

lostlalaloopsy · 08/09/2016 08:37

I love them all but National Lampoons Christmas, Santa Clause: The Movie, The Santa Clause and Scrooged are my favourites.

I also really love the Christmas made for to films, there was one where a woman had married Santas son, it was silly and good fun.

We are not big fans of the Polar Express, the dc found it scary!

If you've not seen Get Santa yet then you need to, it is utterly brilliant.

Our other favourites are the usuals, Muppets Christmas Carol, Elf and Arthur Christmas.

I love watching the old BBC sitcoms Christmas specials as well and the Box of Delights is always on when I am wrapping (not movies I know, but still..)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/09/2016 20:49

I asked DD what her favourite Christmas film is................. we both agree on

"Lost Christmas" (Eddie Izzard film) we watch it as soon as Autumn rolls in Xmas Grin

And "Nightmare Before Christmas" was the film we watched on Hallowe'en usually when the DC ate their dinner before we did Hallowe'eney things

Davros · 08/09/2016 21:16

Ooh yes, The Holiday and Meet Me In St Louis. Thanks

Havingkittens04 · 08/09/2016 22:47

Lost did it star Steve Guttenberg and was it called Meet the Santas? I love it when movies24 becomes Christmas24 - I think I've seen all the cheesy made for tv Christmas movies by now Xmas Smile

HairsprayBabe · 09/09/2016 08:56

I love The Grinch, the styling in that film is just so perfect, everything curvy and topsy turvy.
I also love Miracle on 34th Street and The Holiday.

For not quite films but almost I can't have a christmas without Raymond Briggs' "Father Christmas" and "The Tailor of Gloucester" with Niamh Cusack in it.

NoCapes · 09/09/2016 09:09

My favourites -
Love actually
Elf
Arthur Christmas

DC's favourites -
Home alone 1&2
Jingle all the way
Arthur Christmas
Ice Age - A Mammoth Christmas

And weirdly we always watch The Gruffalo on New Years Eve and I always watch Bridget Jones when DP goes on his works night out - when DP & I weren't together for 2 years I used to watch it on NYE when the kids had gone to bed (and sing all by myself into a glass of wine like I was her Grin) but now they stay up for the fireworks

Davros · 09/09/2016 10:26

I'll have to find The Tailor of Gloucester. I loved that book but never heard of the TV adaptation

HairsprayBabe · 09/09/2016 12:22

There was a whole set of the Beatrix Potter books adapted in the early 90's I used to watch them with my mum as she was on maternity leave with my sister and I want at school yet. Plus I loved "Dr Kate" from Heartbeat!

Im sure you would be able to buy the whole set on DVD now, it's part animated and part real life, with Beatrix Potter "reading" the story as she writes her letters.

I may have to watch one this evening now!
