I'm ready for Christmas now.

That glint of the winter sun early in a morning. You can see your breath but the sunshine makes everything sparkle.

The feeling in the air as shoppers wander home, it's already dark and everywhere glows with lights and candles.

The sound of schoolchildren singing carols at our local church.

The look on faces when they open gifts, cooking as a family. The drive between houses to see other family. Hot chocolate, warm slippers, tinsel.

My first Christmas as a mother. Waking up with my daughter every day.

Just me? It's probably just me.

Yes, lovely. I hate summer with a passion and look forward to the colours of autumn leaves, nice clothes, misty days, picking blackberries and sloes, and drinking hot chocolate!

I am broke so i started Christmas shopping in the sales, and i have already knitted a couple of gift items.

LunaLoveg00d · 04/09/2016 08:53

There is a separate Christmas topic for people who want to think about fecking Christmas in THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER. Hmm

Helgathehairy · 04/09/2016 08:56

I love Christmas and this year think 3 year old DD will be into the whole idea of it. The BEST part of last year was her opening her stocking in bed with us and being so amazed and thankful for all the little bits in it. It was so cute. She'd pull out a bottle of bubbles and be wide eyed and "thank you, thank you" and lots of hugs - for everything.

This year I'm due on 22nd and I just REALLY want to be home on the 25th. So that prob means going over so I'll be uncomfortable anyway.

IdaDown · 04/09/2016 08:56

Noooooo, don't wish away Autumn - my favourite time of the (dog walking) year.

Golden orange sun, air still warm with a slight crisp to it. Leaves and ferns changing colour. Glorious.

Silvercatowner · 04/09/2016 08:58

It's only September. It's still summer.

ChunkyHare · 04/09/2016 09:00

You really should be posting in the Christmas topic.

For lots of people Christmas is not a happy joyous time and you had better don a hard hat now for posting in chat.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 04/09/2016 09:01

Meh. Ignore the threads you don't like. I ignore all the ones moaning about the cold and wishing for summer.

It hasn't occurred to me (we've had a really lovely summer) until I picked up CuppaCat this morning and he did that proper loud purring. Made me think of snuggling up on the sofa in the evening - fire on and a freight train sitting on my lap (fighting for place with the two dogs). Bliss...

HappyAxolotl · 04/09/2016 09:06

Noooo! The chill in the air is bringing Hallowe'en. Dark and spooky > twee and tinselly.

Slippersandacuppa · 04/09/2016 09:06

Wizard good grief that must have been awful. You celebrate!!!

HappyAxolotl · 04/09/2016 09:07

Noooo! The chill in the air is bringing Hallowe'en. Dark and spooky > twee and tinselly.

RachelRagged · 04/09/2016 09:08

I like Winter, but like Autumn more

PepsiPenguin · 04/09/2016 09:10

I wish people would just ignore threads their not interested in, some want to chat about Christmas in the chat section! If you don't like them just hide them and forget them - I have to do this most days when threads appear in active that are somewhat upsetting to me, just hide them.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 04/09/2016 09:13

I know Pepsi. The Christmas threads in particular bring out the people who think they have the right to dictate what others think and post about. It's most odd!

I get that not everyone likes Christmas but the same can be said for anything. I hate summer but don't go about being a cow whenever anyone dares to mention the sun.

Zippidydoodah · 04/09/2016 09:14
Hmm

You should have mentioned it in the title. I like Christmas as much as the next person (well....maybe not quite as much as you, op!) but ffs, it's September 4th!! There's so much more to look forward to before Christmas. I fucking hate the dark and the cold. I also hate trick or treating and Halloween. Stop wishing away the summer!

Zippidydoodah · 04/09/2016 09:14

Haha! What a cross posting! Grin

Mycatsabastard · 04/09/2016 09:18

It's only the beginning of September. We are forecast lovely warm weather for the rest of the week so I can't even think about the C word yet.

Besides, I have DDs birthday in a couple of weeks, then Halloween, then Bonfire Night, then DSDs 21st birthday.

I just cannot get excited about one day in the year that's still over three months away.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 04/09/2016 09:20

But if people want to wish away the summer that what is it to you! If it's what they want to then it is harming no one.

Fwiw I love autumn but that doesn't mean I can't have a little "ooh Christmas isn't too long off" moment if I want to.

Nousernameforme · 04/09/2016 09:21

I love this time of year as well quite selfishly in my case as I have one ds who hates anyone dressed up -halloween and shops/fayres in december can be quite trying- Whereas another ds is terrified of fireworks which is a problem through the arse end of october to mid november round here with a special appearance on new years.
Despite all that it's blankets on the sofa jumpers, boots, crunchy leaves and puddle jumping. Oh and the food I am a much better cook in autumn/winter than summer bring on the soups and casseroles

ilovesooty · 04/09/2016 09:21

I loathe everything between September and March.
At least if you want to rave about Christmas include it in the title so that those who don't care for it won't open the thread.

Flowerpower41 · 04/09/2016 09:23

Are you rolling in it? So you already have the Xmas money for the children then!

Have to find £300 for a playstation 4 need time for that!

I am definitely looking forward to crisp mornings but personally I don't really like, and have never liked, Xmas which is society has turned into a money making commercialist hyped up experience.

BastardGoDarkly · 04/09/2016 09:24

Christmas board is >>>>> Hmm

It goes on for long enough without starting (in chat Shock ) in bloody September.

Just thinking about the cost right now is enough to make my stomach drop.

SoupDragon · 04/09/2016 09:24

I see the thread police are out in force this morning
