It's normally a boring shade of brown, with lots of silver bits poking through. The picture doesn't quite do justice to the depth and brightness that the hairdresser managed to achieve - I used to occasionally get a colour called "666" (the devil!) but this is called "Chilli pepper" and really is chilli pepper/postbox red! It's getting plenty of commentary this morning Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

HungryHorace · 08/12/2016 16:14

Ooh, nice hair, Biddy! Very Christmassy!

My job isn't normally interesting really; it's generally glorified admin. 😂 But this secondment is really interesting as we are being exposed to loads more stuff than we normally would be with a standard case load.

I'm glad your foot is improving, Handbag.
Good news is one Defence down, 2 more to go. Once I have those back, signed, I can properly start to relax into Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄

Potters onto thread, I've had a grim few days, bit flu-but-not-flu with the added BrucieBonus of my diverticulitis has been giving me utter gip Xmas Sad.
Need to drag mysef to GPs in case it isn't IBS (theres alot of overlooked things when its brushed off) and if it is , I need Heavy Duty Painkillers.

So. No shopping done. DH and I will need to put our shopping day out on hold

It'll all work out in the end.

Now. To fill this thread in 15 days.......

HairsprayBabe · 09/12/2016 08:15

Morning 70 hope you recover quickly!

I am so tired from my trip yesterday, it is my works christmas do tonight, and I have organised it all so if it all goes tits up I will be to blame!

I hope some one else organises next year as it was another stress I didn't really need!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 09/12/2016 08:24

Today I'm Christmas baking! I'll share photos later. Yule log, spruced up cake and shortbread.

HungryHorace · 09/12/2016 09:57

Arghhh. I'm so tired today after waking at 5.30 for some ridiculous reason. 💤💤💤

Sorry you're not well, 70. I hope you're better soon.

Baking sounds good, mummy. I'll do some when I'm finished for Christmas.

HandbagCrazy · 09/12/2016 11:48

70 I hope you're resting up (as much as you can)?

My ankle is still quite bruised and sore so my plan after work (half days) is to sit on the floor/ stool and paint as much as I can then have DH finish the rest. Same again tomorrow morning and walls will be done, then decs are going up.
Apart from that, I'm still crocheting like mad trying to finish the blanket for DH. Honestly, I never knew something normally relaxing could be so stressful!

However - Christmas is almost here Xmas Smile

Mummyreindeerlegz · 09/12/2016 17:19

My shortbread recipe wasn't enough to fill my tin so it cooked too fast and isn't right so I'll re do that tomorrow. Icing sugar to be liberally sifted into the cakes tomorrow too.

BiddyPop · 09/12/2016 22:04

I'm almost home from my office Christmas lunch. I've been in 3 pubs today that I have never been in before. I am currently regretting being the cub leader in charge tomorrow - but I am sure it will all be fine!

I twitched on another present for DH last night (Tim Peake's book)! Hopefully I won't twitch any more now (unlikely!). 😂

HandbagCrazy · 10/12/2016 11:49

Mummy that all looks lovely. I am ever so jealous that you can bake. Everything I try is a disaster!

I am not twitching as such, but I have decided to a buy a giant shoe chew each for ddogs. We have 2 now and they don't normally get presents but we lost ddog1 a month ago and ddog2 is still I bit off and pining. DH thinks I'm nuts and pulled the Hmm face at me.

Hope everyone's having a nice weekend Xmas Smile I'm just about to prop myself on a footstool and paint as much of a wall as I can (bad ankle is still sore and slowing me down though)

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/12/2016 16:45

I'm knackered Xmas Grin

DS and I did all the decorations today.
I've put together 2 six foot trees, wrestled with the lights and hung all the baubles. I'm 5'2 and DS only comes up to the bridge of my nose so putting the Angel on the top of the tree was challenging and don't get me started on the banister garland.

Soooo I'm so tired that it's pizza for dinner for DS and DD2 and I'm going to pick up a Chinese for me (cheese allergy) and I'm going to sit here in santa's grotto and drink wine.

I deal with The Twitch by putting the wrapping paper somewhere that's difficult to get to. The prospect of getting everything out again discourages the shopping urges.

I made my mince pies yesterday. DH taste tested a couple, I put some in the freezer and he took some to MIL today.

Mummyreindeerlegz · 11/12/2016 09:14

Pantomime today! I've put on tonnes of weight so taking leftover food from yesterday to my mum. So today I'll be enjoying pizza before being good for the next couple of weeks. I have a dress for Christmas Day that will not fit at this rate!!

HungryHorace · 11/12/2016 09:57

Good willpower there, mummy. I've put on weight since being in Glasgow (too much wine and eating out!), but I don't seem to be able to stop with it all! 😂

ConstantlyCooking · 11/12/2016 10:51

Finally after a few manic weeks, I have managed my present audit and have a list of final bits to buy, plus Christmas Eve hamper and the big food shop to organise (I have been buying and eating Christmas food for a few weeks so have the nice bits).
The tree goes up this evening AngryXmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

ConstantlyCooking · 11/12/2016 10:51

Red face was a mistake! I was too excited by Christmas smilies

HungryHorace · 11/12/2016 11:22

I need to do a freezer audit and plan meals so that we clear it a bit so our Christmas buffet food fits in. We are away next Sat and then the Tuesday as well, so we've limited time to eat through our provisions! Xmas Grin

HandbagCrazy · 11/12/2016 11:51

Constantly thank you so much for the Christmas paper Xmas Smile It's lovely

I got my wall painted yesterday so tree is going up today. I'm looking forward to it being done but me and DH went out with some of his family last night and there was a lot of prosecco involved (and it was my first drink in quite some time) so I have a slightly delicate head.

Plan this evening is to do a food audit and write the food shopping list.

Guitargirl · 11/12/2016 21:30

I have had a lot of dental work done this week so I have been a bit knocked out to be honest but am feeling a bit better today so have been online shopping whilst the DCs have been out. I always think ordering things online will be really quick and always seem to underestimate how long it will take. Especially as the DCs have asked for quite niche things this year which has taken me some time to understand first to make sure am looking at the right thing.

We had our annual Father Christmas outing this week which was fun, every year I think it will be our last but they seem to be firm believers still - for the moment at least!

I also did the mammoth Ocado Christmas food order today which was kind of - ouch - but we have guests just before Christmas so am trying to convince myself that's why it seems to be so £££.

I was planning on writing my Christmas cards today too but the time has totally run away with me on obscure websites so that will have to wait until another day...

ConstantlyCooking · 12/12/2016 08:58

12 Xmas Grin
Following my Christmas present audit at the weekend I have discovered I am way behind schedule, plus I have -lost- put DD's expensive box of Hotel Chocolat chocs somewhere safe and can't find them Xmas Blush
I spend all year stopping myself doing things too early and then suddenly find I am running late!
I am pleased you liked the paper Handbag.
MrsD - I have pm'ed you.

HairsprayBabe · 12/12/2016 09:04

12 It all seems so close now!
My Christmas party was a total smash! I don't remember the end of it though Xmas Blush 1 too many proseccos me thinks!

I STILL have to buy for my granddad and uncle, but I think I know what I am getting them now at least. Will make another batch of fudge later in the week and I think I am going to get a pressie for a friend's child that I forgot to factor in earlier in the year.

Mummyreindeerlegz · 12/12/2016 09:10

I've still got stuff to make. I have to push on this week I really do.

BiddyPop · 12/12/2016 10:35

My list of shopping has drastically reduced. I still have a few to buy for, and a few other bits I need to get for our own celebrations. But progress is being made. I even managed to wrap the presents DH had to take with him on Saturday!

I have the main bundle of cards with me to post today (near overseas - i.e. Europe rather than further away) and the rest of Ireland. I will keep the Dublin bundle until later in the week. I still need 4 addresses from DMIL and I have to look up 1 for DUncle (but I can get his online).

The tree is standing, but not even fluffed out yet. Just too busy. I must get on with that tonight, after the food shopping arrives and I put that away. And I have a few emails to do for Scouts.

I surprised myself though that I actually achieved quite a lot last week - when I look at my lists both of house, Christmas and work stuff! Quite a few presents bought, things like coffee pods (desperately needed) bought as well, and wine for the cottage, cookies made for school fair, raffle tickets all sold and money handed over on time (school fair and scouts all in the 1 week - DD had done really well on scouts ones with an email to extended family so that meant a hand-aching hour at another leader's house last night!). I found where her new afterschool is moving over the Christmas break. I booked my GP appointment for this week (long fingered for quite a few weeks).

And I am still (mostly) upright after my own section Christmas party Friday, French neighbours annual bash on Saturday (we walked home at 2am - dinner just finished but we didn't stay for singing and dancing as DD needed sleep!), school fair on Sunday, mad busy Cubs meeting Saturday followed by Santa arriving by sea to the sailing club, and sailing races yesterday afternoon.

My "to do" list everywhere is long. But there are no specific work deadlines this week (yet). The house is reasonably under control. I will get the decorations sorted. I have a menu plan for the week (which involves using up freezer stuff a fair amount). I made enough cookie dough that I only need to roll and bake DD's cookies for her afterschool class group on Wednesday. I will try to make a wrapping night for myself. After at least 1 early night for sleep purposes.

I may have missed the "1st December Cruise Departure" date that the Flylady advocates to be ready, but I have had years where it was a lot worse.

I hope all the various bugs have disappeared for people, and that long-term issues and illnesses pop back down into their boxes under the surface too.

HandbagCrazy · 12/12/2016 19:41

Biddy you sound like you've been busy!

I put up the tree and trimmings today, have had a bath using my Lush Christmas bubble bar and am just resting my ankle while I make a shopping list.
Present wise I'm done except for DH (and I know what I'm getting him) but I want a food list.
Tomorrow I'm shopping for anything I can buy now - plan is that the only things left to buy is fridge food, fruit and veg. And tomorrow afternoon will be spent doing some wrapping.

I feel so much better now the twinkly lights are up. I've been controversial and put both warm white and coloured lights on my tree Xmas Shock

HungryHorace · 13/12/2016 07:17

Almost into single figures!! Xmas Grin Xmas Shock

I'm heading back to Glasgow today. It's been a disaster so far today with DH starting with a stomach bug (let's just say in sickness and in health was put to the test first thing!) and my taxi failing to show as the company had decided to cancel it and not tell me. Argghhh.

Gonna change my return ticket and come home on Thurs night so they aren't alone for that extra day / evening.
