My big lad struggles maintaining his weight so using dairy is one of the easiest ways.

Anyway back to Christmas!

I have cleared the dining room table and tomorrow during ds2's nap I shall be finding and auditing my Christmas craft stash. I have been given an embroidery machine and I have some plain napkins to try and Christmas up

Coffeelover56 · 04/09/2016 15:07

Hi Red he will be 10 months at Xmas. Santa will be getting him a trike Smile

Really looking forward to doing the elf on the shelf, although there's probably no point this year...

HungryHorace · 04/09/2016 15:14

Ooh, mummy, an embroidery machine?! That sounds awesome!

I've not really got time to be crafty, but I like the sound of that. 😀

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 04/09/2016 16:10

Coffee, definitely start EotS - you can take photos and show DS that your elf came to visit. LOVE EotS! Plus it's good to practice for the years when the kidlets are more astute!

Mummyshortlegz · 04/09/2016 16:36

My mil is very very crafty and got a better one so have me this one. I've just transitioned from maternity leave to stay at home mum. Baby is 11 months and ds1 is 3 and back to preschool tomorrow. I'm hoping I'll get some time between preschool runs to get some crafting done.

HungryHorace · 04/09/2016 16:40

I work full time so I have no inclination to do crafty stuff! I'm sure there are some who'd fit it in, but it's not a priority for me!

I did cross stitches for the two kids for when they were born (I couldn't have a third, no time to do another!) and that's as crafty as I get. Grin

Mummyshortlegz · 04/09/2016 16:53

I was working full time until September last year and working away constantly so a big change! I had no inclination either! We shall see if I actually get any now... I'm not very good at following through!

HungryHorace · 04/09/2016 19:49

I think I'm now where you were as I'll be away 3 nights a week from the end of the month...it's going to be challenging!

Mummyshortlegz · 04/09/2016 19:53

It's knackering and gets so dull being away endlessly, but my hair and nails never looked so good and I was never woken by a small child so pluses and minuses!

HungryHorace · 04/09/2016 20:11

I'll always be in the same place and I'm supposedly being provided with a house so everyone can come up to me in preschool holidays.

I can't say I'm going to mind getting a few full nights' sleep a week though!

Mummyshortlegz · 04/09/2016 20:17

That sounds reasonable and doable, still bit lonely at times I expect but sleep is not to be sneezed at Xmas Grin

The spreadsheets are in full swing now! I am away with work for a few days this week but I bought all my jars from Lakeland last week all ready for Operation Christmas Hamper 2016. May the pickling commence!

SideOrderofChip · 05/09/2016 10:15

I couldn't live without Dairy. I love cheese too much.

Anyway. back to school here today Xmas Grin

Ratbagcatbag · 05/09/2016 10:52

We're slipping down the Christmas board, a sure indication others are getting super excited too.

Chips - how many do you have heading back to school?
My dd is 3 and starts pre school next week [sob] even though she's been in full time childcare since six months it feels a massive milestone!

BiddyPop · 05/09/2016 11:15

I've spent a bit of a procrastination morning looking at all those new threads (and getting a bit carried away with epic posts on a few of them Blush ). Oh, well, I am an acknowledged Christmas nut in RL, why not here as well!!

The weekend was a bit mad - Scouts regatta all day, in the pouring (and I mean POURING) rain on Saturday, a BBQ for all the Leaders on Sat night (I left at 2am, some were looking like making it an all-nighter!), and then travelling 3 hours each way for Sunday lunch with our newest DNiece (5 days old and gorgeous!).

Planning in the car focused on extra-curriculars for after school. And once DD had headphones on, dealing with a bombshell request from Saturday night (a good one but very unexpected! And means a lot more work for me at Cubs, if I say yes - although I don't think I can really say no).

And being out of the house all day both days meant I did nothing on my HHP jobs and not a huge amount of regular housework - there are wet clothes hanging everywhere (laundry as well as boating and wet weather gear), I had to sweep 4 times to get rid of grass from the floor!, but I did manage to get tonight's dinner organized and book an internet food shop for tonight as well (including the 1st items for my Christmas box for travelling).

So once that is packed away, evenings this week are focused on paperwork in the living room, paperwork in the study, and paperwork on bills etc.

And I want to get out at lunchtimes to do a bit more purchasing while the last few sales are on.

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/09/2016 12:22

2 down (back to school) and 1 to go (off to uni in 2 weeks).

I've started with my lists I love a good list and I'm hopefully going to catch up this week on all the little jobs that didn't get done during the school holidays.

Tesco have J2O on offer this week so I picked some up this morning - I just need to hide it somewhere now.

Mummyshortlegz · 05/09/2016 19:17

Today just disappeared. No crafting or planning done at all today. I'll have to try on Wednesday. I've always wanted one of those lovely Christmas planners but I have a lovely notebook I can use, I just need to decorate it. I'm considering buying some tiny Christmas stamps to decorate some pages

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/09/2016 21:20

Side I'm not a vegan (I am a long time vegetarain) but when I had a gallstone diagnosed I realised that fatty things like cheddar was the worst culprit.

Now I have no gallbladder it still makes no difference : I eat cheddar, I get pain Sad

Last year I bought a small block of Wendsleydale to go with the cake, I ate a small piece (when I was on holiday) it was lush but not good aftereffects.

I would love good quality cheddar, Branston pickle fine chunk and some really nice poppyseeded bloomer...................................
Not to be tucks worlds tiniest violin under chin Xmas Wink

ConstantlyCooking · 05/09/2016 23:10

70 look at achia - they have lots of Christmas stuff ( much better than cheese) Xmas Grin

RedLarvaYellowLarva · 05/09/2016 23:23

Just gone a bit crazy online at Matalan - they've got some lovely stuff this year! Gorgeous box from the elves: elf box and this wooden tree which is a rip off of a really expensive wood plank tree I've had my heart set on for years but can't justify the cost of, but this little one will fill that spot and not bankrupt us: planky tree - hopefully it doesn't look cheap. Can always return it, but I think I love it! Xmas Grin Also got the kidlets a plush elf, already have a different EotS, so not sure what the point is, but hey ho! And a couple of Xmas blankets, and and and !

Blueisthemagicnumber · 06/09/2016 08:37

Just discovered this thread!

I sooo get the twitch, it drives my DH mad. Especially about stockings. Tiger is my favourite place to shop for little gifts.

Anyone about with older dcs? My two ds are 13 and 10, and love Christmas too, but gone past the whole EOTS thing.

I am waiting for all the Christmas decs to arrive on the John Lewis website, and I have a slight addiction to buying the perfect fairy lights for our real tree.

Mummyshortlegz · 06/09/2016 08:41

I love the planky tree! I may attempt to make one. Or I'll stick it on Pinterest and it will rot like my other ideas 😂

I need to actually work today - but there seemed to be a distinct jump in the level of chatter on this board over the weekend and yesterday. (I know - I added a good bit - hence why I need to focus on work today Xmas Grin ).

We're almost down to double digits though.....squeee!

SideOrderofChip · 06/09/2016 12:42

ratbag Chipstheeldest and ChipstheElder are at school. Babychips is obviously still home with me

70 when i was pregnant with ChipstheElder i had gallstones and the pain was horrendous so i sympathise with you completely
