So we've decided to get our 19month old (at xmas) a toy kitchen. I would like to get somthing well built that will last (wooden). Somthing that has a bit of work space to put toaster/kettle on.
I've looked at what I feel is hundreds. And now I have gotten twitchy about it.
So I thought I would ask the wonderful people of mumsnet for recommendations!

My favourite is the ikea one. Have a look on pinterest for inspiration of how to personalise it Smile

We have a lovely red wooden one from great little trading. Bought when my ds1 was 2 and still going strong now he's 10 and dd is 3. Played with almost daily.

I got a lovely one from elc. It was reduced a lot around the October half term I think so was half price a few years ago. It's lasted really well. My friend got one from gltc which is amazing.

RumAppleGinger · 31/08/2016 14:02

Also love the Ikea one. It's been played with almost every day for the best part of 4 years by DS1 and now DS2 is getting in on the action. Still in great condition.

Kit2015 · 31/08/2016 16:02

Thanks all:) will have a look at all mentioned.

Another vote for the ikea one. Plus it has feet that you can swap round to make it taller/shorter.

PotteringAlong · 31/08/2016 16:06

We've got the asda one. Some reviews call it flimsy but ours has been played with every day for 2 years by 2 children and is still in great condition.

One piece of advice; don't buy it early and then leave it in the garage and have to put it together on Christmas Eve having drunk a bottle of champagne Blush

Mummyshortlegz · 31/08/2016 16:07

IKEA.

Asda one fell apart very dangerously immediately.

Glad you started this OP. We too are looking for a wooden kitchen. I've seen the ikea one and it looks lovely

ThedementedPenguin · 31/08/2016 16:15

I got the tildo country kitchen for my boy aged 2 and it's still going strong over 2 years later and lots of abuse.

FurryTrousers · 31/08/2016 16:15

We have this one from Asda

DC love it & only £40.

FurryTrousers · 31/08/2016 16:17

Ps. We have 3 DC, so used often, it's nearly a year old and still absolutely fine

Cakescakescakes · 31/08/2016 16:18

Wooden diner kitchen from ELC- £150 down to £75 quite often. It's lovely but took a bit of putting together so don't leave it until Chtistmas Eve!

EddieStobbart · 31/08/2016 16:21

I second great little trading one. It's lovely. If I hadn't bought that it would have been the IKEA one.

Kit2015 · 31/08/2016 16:21

The ikea one looks lovely and looks like you can jazz it up.
Love the recommendations. It's nice too see what people think as I think it will be somthing that will be used for years and future kids :)

Had also had GLTC 7 years

Chrisinthemorning · 31/08/2016 16:22

I now want that plum one which is stupid as DS is 4 and into Star Wars, transformers and Thunderbirds Sad

Kit2015 · 31/08/2016 16:25

That plum one is lovely... I do think think my budget will stretch that far. Was think 150 at a plush if there was a all singing all dancing one.

We got a Kidkraft one from Amazon last year. It's been played with every day and is fantastic quality. Did take dh 4 hours to assemble on Xmas eve though...

HungryHorace · 31/08/2016 19:19

The Melissa and Doug one is lovely. I got ours 2 years' ago during Amazon's Black Friday and hoarded it for 8 months until my DD's 2nd birthday. Her and DS both love it and I add to it with food stuffs every birthday / Christmas!

PotteringAlong · 31/08/2016 19:20

furry that's the one we have - it's been brilliant!
