So we've decided to get our 19month old (at xmas) a toy kitchen. I would like to get somthing well built that will last (wooden). Somthing that has a bit of work space to put toaster/kettle on.
I've looked at what I feel is hundreds. And now I have gotten twitchy about it.
So I thought I would ask the wonderful people of mumsnet for recommendations!

Another vote for the IKEA kitchen, plus the utensils and mini crockery. If you get family involved there's lots of lovely wooden food online which my children love.

We have the IKEA one and it's brilliant. We also bought the smallest white billy bookcase with a door attached to go next to it and DS uses it as a fridge/cupboard to store all the food and pans and it looks great.

It doesn't have much room to place plates and cups etc on but DS has a little white wooden IKEA table and chair that he uses to make tea parties for his teddies.

I would 100% recommend the plum cookie kitchen you can usually get 15% off which brings the price down to 120ish, lots of space, very durable kids climb it frequently, lots of cupboards and lots of space!

Omgosh thank you all so much for your recommendations. So 5he ikea one seems a safe bet, and a quick look on pintrest has given me loads of ideas how to customise it.... I am not at all creative but quite fancy giving it a go.

Another recommendation for the ikea one, we've had ours for 6 years and it's withstood my 3, and a couple of years worth of childminding. It's still in great condition and as its not garish fits nicely anywhere in the house. The ikea kitchen accessories are also fab, much more like real kitchen equipment than others.

We have a little tykes wooden one. It's really sturdy and looks fab. Although doesn't have a lot of surface space it has lots of bits to open, oven, fridge dishwasher etc.

Another vote for not leaving it til Xmas eve to put up! Took dh nearly 3 hours!!

I spend months last year obsessing over which kitchen to buy DS for Christmas and drove myself crazy. In the end I went for the Wonderworld Neo and it has been brilliant. It isn't cheap but I managed to find the different pieces (cooker, sink, washing machine, fridge and microwave) individually and saved a fortune against RRP. I did definitely develop a twitch in the process though.
