I started a while back and am progressing well through my lists. My most recent delivery is a Wii U and pro controller. Probably this will be gifted as a family present. I'm struggling a little with what to get my 9 year old daughter as she wants toys but never really plays with them. How's everyone doing?

Wouldn't normally have started this early but baby on the way and thought it would be better to be organised! We also have a birthday in December and one in Jan.

I have stuff bought for the 3dc except for the 2 older ones "wants" which will change many times before Christmas.

Only have my parents, an "honorary uncle" and a secret Santa for my friends circle to sort now.

Badders123 · 28/08/2016 10:49

I started on Friday Smile
Got the boys new iPads (to good a deal to pass up!)
As they are getting such big main gifts it'll just be stocking fillers as extras really so have bought a few bits like Star Wars tsum tsum screen wipers for £2.50 each Smile
They will get then usual pants, books and a DVD

Hi I used Amazon. They had one down to £229 a few days ago. I think it has gone back up now though. I chose the Wii U because I thought it was more of a family console than the Xbox or PlayStation. Also looking though the games on Amazon there was a lot more choice for her age on Wii. And it's backward compatible so you can play old Wii games on it as well which I was told you can't do with the other consoles.

I have bought two pressies for DS's that because they were on sale. Normally start september but i save all year.

lionsleepstonight · 28/08/2016 11:16

Yes it does, I like the family idea. Will get on camelcamelcamel now! Thank you.

ImperialBlether · 28/08/2016 11:18

Where did you get the iPads, Badders?

Badders123 · 28/08/2016 11:39

Actually got them from very.com
I don't usually use them so got a 10% new customer discount (KLLHN) til mid sept and the iPads themselves had £50 off.
So £170 saving on two and we can pay interest free over the next 3 months
Once we have sold the old ones (hope to get £180/200) and put that towards the new ones too then it will mean we will have essentially got 2 for the price of 1. It was the cheapest way I could do it. (They are iPad Air 2 btw)
hope that made sense!
We have to start early and budget so the paying over 3 months thing is great - and they will be paid for by Xmas :)

Badders123 · 28/08/2016 11:41

For those of you who need stocking fillers or more unusual gifts try dotcomgiftshop.com
I've always found their stuff pretty good and not expensive,

Stiddleficks · 28/08/2016 18:11

I just started mine in the Argos bid red sale, less than half price for some toys. Does anyone know if there'll be another 3 for 2 at Argos? I thought it was September so I missed the one they just did Sad

Haudyerwheesht · 28/08/2016 18:26

I bought Dd a pram today because it's exactly what I've been looking for and is also half price just now Grin

HungryHorace · 28/08/2016 18:28

Was that the Silver Cross one, Haudyer? I was tempted by that for DS (he loves the baby doll and also toys that need pushing!).

CaveMum · 28/08/2016 18:51

Bought my first gifts today, for DD (2.5). We've bought her a Nemo and a Dory toy from Build A Bear - they've got a 30% off sale right now plus another 30% off if you use the code FRIENDSAUG2 (only valid until midnight tonight). On top of that Quidco are giving 7% Cashback on purchases at BAB through them Grin

LittleReindeerwithcloggson · 28/08/2016 21:27

We've got a wiiu - great family fun with some brilliant games. (Also has bbc I player and Netflix on it so great all round)

LittleReindeerwithcloggson · 28/08/2016 21:28

You need to buy some older wii controllers if you're using old Wii games though but both the original games and controllers can be picked up really cheaply

Haudyerwheesht · 28/08/2016 23:13

hungry that's the one. It seems to have a really high handle which is just what I need as although she'll only be 6 by cmas she's very tall

HungryHorace · 29/08/2016 07:52

I'll have to think quickly about whether I'm going to get it!

BiddyPop · 29/08/2016 10:39

I have over 50 people to buy for, and have finished about 6 and part-done another 4. I have some ideas for another handful - but I am slightly behind where I'd hoped to be.

I'll get there though.///

Whitecovers · 29/08/2016 10:48

I ordered some wrapping paper and an led Christmas tree yesterday. That's about it so far.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 29/08/2016 10:53

Badders can I ask where your good iPad deal was, please???

I have so far bought chocs from M&S (choc fudge 'walnut' whips) and truffles. Both half price. Both dated till Jan 2017.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 29/08/2016 11:01

Me, I've started. Bought DSIL some lovely Molten Brown the other day.

QuimReaper · 29/08/2016 11:22

I bought a book for MIL but then remembered it's her birthday in October.

One step forward... Grin

Badders123 · 29/08/2016 12:30

DMEF...it was from very.com
New customer 10% off (code KLLHN til 12the sept) and £50 off each one so we got £170 off the two.
Also pay over 3 months interest free.
(We are selling the old ones too though so that will bring in about £200 to put towards them too.)

Badders123 · 29/08/2016 12:32

So for 1 iPad you would be getting £85 off

DailyMailEthicalFail · 29/08/2016 12:51

Oooh. Thanks. That's worth having :)
