When do your DC break up for the Christmas holidays?

I was just checking the term dates for mine (and discovered they go back from summer holidays a week later than I thought! Oops. But yay to extra week) and they finish up on the 23rd!

So Christmas Eve is the start of their holidays. I can't decide if that's good or bad?!

Please note this is the Christmas forum so no need to point out you've just started your summer holidays. Grin

Mine break up around the 17th

OlennasWimple · 20/07/2016 11:45

Christmas Eve (but not in the UK)

OorWullie1936 · 20/07/2016 14:37

22nd December (Scotland)

smellylittleorange · 20/07/2016 14:38

16th December - hopefully we can do a pre -Christmas activity if I get a day off!!

DubiousCredentials · 20/07/2016 14:39

16th. Way too bloody early. It will seem like forever til actual, you know, Christmas.

OverAndAbove · 20/07/2016 14:39

13th December. It seems an awful long time away now!

nickdrakeslovechild · 20/07/2016 15:15

20th December so we have a few days of activities before her birthday on 23rd. Cant wait.

weebarra · 20/07/2016 15:24

23rd December here - Scotland. It's DS1's birthday and he's never been at school on his birthday before.

Weebarra, if I remember right, we are practically neighbours! Xmas Grin. Well both in Midlothian anyway, though if you live in town beginning with L then we might be actual neighbours. Shock.

I broke the news to my DC earlier and they're unimpressed with the late start to the holidays.

16th December here in Staffordshire. It's good in that there will be time to do lots of pre Christmas activities but a whole week off before the big day will give them way too much time to get hyped up.

weebarra · 20/07/2016 16:23

0v0 - not the town beginning with L, but the nearby one beginning with D!

Badders123 · 20/07/2016 16:29

16th here too
Too early!!

notamummy10 · 20/07/2016 16:37

20th December, then go back on 4th January 2017!

The university finishes for Christmas on 9th December and doesn't start back until 16th January Grin (this applies to me!)

Lindy2 · 20/07/2016 16:44

Mine finish on 21st. That day will be a half day. I think that's about right.

OvO · 20/07/2016 17:02

That's a relief, weebarra, 'cause I hate my neighbours! Xmas Grin

I could never hate a fellow Christmasser.

I think the 20th would be my ideal finish date. Just fours days to contain the wild beasts, but long enough to relax a bit and do some festive stuff.

I pity my DC's teachers! There's no time to fit in last minute shopping or organising, plus trying to keep control of 30 excited children. Xmas Shock.

Mine finish 21st dec and go back on 4th jan. Really looking forward to xmas this year.🎅🎅🎅🎅🎁🎁🎁

DeltaSunrise · 21/07/2016 07:23

Mine break up on the 16th December and get about 7 1/2 weeks off this year (not uk)

Can't wait for our Boxing Day Beach swim.

GlowWine · 21/07/2016 07:31

16th and 20th - back 3rd and 5th. it's a bit annoying for all the extra time off I will need at both ends.

elQuintoConyo · 21/07/2016 07:34

21st December is a half-day here. Thrn they go back 8th January.

VERY excited for Christmas this year Xmas Smile i have started sewing already!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 21/07/2016 07:38

16th. I much prefer it when they break up early and go back straight after New Year, plenty of time to unwind and do fun stuff in the lead up to Christmas. Come Jan 2nd we're all ready to get back to school / work.

DiggersRest · 21/07/2016 07:40

Well it was the 15th now it's been changed to 21st December (as of yesterday's newsletter Angry). I'm pretty annoyed as we were making plans to go home to Australia at Christmas but now l don't think we can (we have a few days off that won't be authorised but we cant miss, SIL wedding etc).

lostlalaloopsy · 21/07/2016 10:46

I was just checking my dcs, and they don't finish until the 23rdAngry I hate that!! Then they don't go back until the 8th January so will have to fill that week.

I'd much prefer to have longer off before Christmas so we can do all fun activities and crafts that we just can't fit in during term time.

BiddyPop · 21/07/2016 11:20

We finish on 22nd Dec at 12 noon. Back on Monday 9th January.

I think we will be travelling "down home" on 23rd, as I think that's what I booked the cottage from (if not - it's 24th). I should work on 23rd, I'll see what way I have booked cottage, and what weather is looking like, and I might work all day, or half day, or not at all.

We've already been on summer holidays for 3 weeks! And are back from our 2 week family vacation.
