When do your DC break up for the Christmas holidays?

I was just checking the term dates for mine (and discovered they go back from summer holidays a week later than I thought! Oops. But yay to extra week) and they finish up on the 23rd!

So Christmas Eve is the start of their holidays. I can't decide if that's good or bad?!

Please note this is the Christmas forum so no need to point out you've just started your summer holidays. Grin

16th...way too early and a nightmare to cover!

MTWTFSS · 21/07/2016 20:24

Wednesday 21st December Grin

dementedpixie · 21/07/2016 20:29

23rd (Scotland) and back 9th January.

Chrisinthemorning · 22/07/2016 06:36

15th Dec. I think that's about right. I'd rather time off before than after.

Mirandawest · 22/07/2016 06:43

Break up Friday 16th and go back Thursday 5th January so nearly 3 weeks off.

Florin · 22/07/2016 06:51

December 9th here, lots of time for Christmas activities-can't wait!

Artandco · 22/07/2016 07:10

10th December, back 6th January. Nice long break

Ikeameatballs · 22/07/2016 07:19

23rd as well and also first year DS will be at school for his bday.

I think I'm ok with it as it means I should be able to get the full week off work between Xmas and NY rather than having some days off before and then some between.

attheendoftheday · 23/07/2016 19:20

We break up on 17th. It's ideal as we're doing a Lapland trip this year before Xmas. I love having time together before Xmas!

ChristmasZombie · 24/07/2016 16:28

We break up on December 9th (independent school DD1 attends and I teach at). I love having the extra week before the state schools break up!

23 December this year. It never been so late as this ever!!!!!! As my birthday on 22 December always been off school.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/07/2016 21:43

I had a look at the School Website, I think its the Wednesday before (which will be the 21st. (And they have a half day)

I always book off Christmas Eve but I don't know about this year, might be working on the Friday ?

I usually work some days between Christmas and New Year (I'm an NHS bod, healthcare still needs to be provided but I'm not in the 24/7 sector)

hidingwithwine · 24/07/2016 22:46

We finish on the 23rd this year but I finish on the 22nd as I don't work Friday's but we're off until 9th January - so much better than last year when we finished over a week before the big day and we're back on the 4th Jan. The 4th was a Scottish bank holiday, FFS!

DragonRojo · 24/07/2016 22:54

Officially on 16th, but I am taking him out from the 14th, as we are flying to the other side of the world for Christmas. I wasn't going to buy the head teacher suggested we go earlier, as "they don't really do anything on the last few days". That's a man who talks sense!

DragonRojo · 24/07/2016 22:57

That should say "but" the head teacher....

OSETmum · 25/07/2016 10:46

DS finishes on the 22nd and I finish on the 20th ( I'm a TA not a very young mother). It's a ridiculously long term for DS as he goes back on the 1st September (me on 5th) and he's going into the juniors so the workload will step up, the poor boy will be exhausted by Christmas, as will all the staff at his school!

nellifurtardo · 27/07/2016 06:53

16th of December for my son and back on the 4th of January.

IJustAteTheKidsFoodAgain · 27/07/2016 07:19

16 the til the 9th. I'd be really disappointed if it were the 23rd, but I'm a clingy mum and already upset that the summer holidays will end in September Blush

giraffesarefab · 27/07/2016 08:32

Mine finish on Fri 16th and go back on Tues 3rd Jan x

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 27/07/2016 08:36

22nd.
Feels far to late

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 30/07/2016 17:31

23rd here, back to school on 9th Jan. I'm so unimpressed would much rather spend time with the kids during pre Christmas excitement.
16th Dec is very early but I would pick early hols rather than late.
