With 2 birthdays happening between this Sun and this coming Tues (!) and Xmas cards coming trhough thick and fast on a daily basis - what's the best way to hang cards from walls?

we stick ours to the kitchen cupbords and doors

marymillington · 15/12/2006 20:44

we are chronically short of surfaces here, so i bought a wire card display type thing. i have to say, its absolutely minging. i wish i hadn't.

santasweetdreamer · 15/12/2006 20:44

get one of those cardy hangers thingy from poundland, keeps them from falling off the windowsill whenever someone opens the door and driving you to drink

or is that just me?

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 15/12/2006 20:47

ohhhh we have one of those shops that sell plastic buckets and windmills locally, maybe I can try there.

Without having to go out though, any tips. I was thinking of having them hanging down in strips but how and what do you attach them to walls with?

i use a plain bit of string and just pile them along, or you could hang them down the string with tape

I bluetac ours to one wall and dd1s b'day cards(tomorrow )willgo on another wall

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 15/12/2006 20:55

Oh yeah I could go horizontal not vertical. How do attach string to the wall though?

And with blutac - does it mark wall? Do they stay up? Do you individually blutac each one?

serenitynightholynight · 15/12/2006 20:56

Ours are blutacked to the Hall wall - only decoration we do in there.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 15/12/2006 20:56

Stapled to ribbon a la Anthea Turner (bless!) or bluetacked to the wall.

southeastastra · 15/12/2006 20:58

i use drawing pins, they leave tiny holes but you can reuse them year after year!

EllieHsMum · 15/12/2006 21:03

Silver string hung from the top of the door with drawing pins. Cards attached with silver and gold coloured mini wooden clothes pegs.

PrincessPeaHead · 15/12/2006 21:06

I have an enormous wide open bowl thing and chuck them all in there.

however you display them they fall off and down and god knows what, and most of them look horrid anyway, lets face it

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 15/12/2006 21:09

blu tacked to edge of shelving

moondog · 15/12/2006 21:09

Mine are mauled by the children as and when they come in.
Glues,shredded,sliced and diced.
Can't say I mind.

I hate them.

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 15/12/2006 21:11

Well yes, the ones that make it get displayed (out of reach), lol.

I do get annoyed and bin them with them well before tree comes down

tassis · 15/12/2006 21:11

I pin long bits of red ribbon to the top of my walls (so it hangs vertically) and blutac the cards to the ribbon.

Looks pretty good.

SpicymulledSheraz · 15/12/2006 21:16

However I hang mine they fall off. I just chuck mine in a pile on the sideboard and stand the nicest ones on the mantle piece. i chuck the cheapo ones straight in the bin! cards are a waste of money anyway - apart from to nearest and dearest and friends who livwe away.

moondog · 15/12/2006 21:17

Don't throw 'em.
Recycle please.

Make an old hound very happy.

Gingerbear · 15/12/2006 21:17

blue tac on the doors here.
Once did Anthea style ribbons, but they kept falling down.

SpicymulledSheraz · 15/12/2006 21:19

I meant the recycling bin Moonog - am a good little recycler.

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 15/12/2006 21:19

Oh we always recycle. I even cut out all my stamps and give them to MIL who takes them to church for something

Jimjams2 · 15/12/2006 21:21

I don't- used to hang them near the stairs in vertical strips, but ds1 kept pulling them down! NOw I just recycle them with nursery.
