With 2 birthdays happening between this Sun and this coming Tues (!) and Xmas cards coming trhough thick and fast on a daily basis - what's the best way to hang cards from walls?

i've punched a hole in the top corner and threaded them onto curling ribbon pinned across our hideous internal window (don't ask!) disguising it and getting the cards out of the way.
Might copy princesspeahead's wide bowl idea too, for the ones that other people always want to pick up and look at (no idea why, i would have no interest in other peoples cards)

JanH , we must being doing something wrong here , loads of ours are pink (or it could be the influence of cards for 2 little girls!)

lexiemum · 16/12/2006 22:23

my xmas cards are all stacked into a wooden sleigh on the mantle.

have struggled with wall mounted card holders. this year bought a arch shaped metal thing to put cards in but they keep falling out or dd2 keeps pulling them out.

I have two wide bits of leopard print ribbon with gold trim hanging on a door

I peg the cards to them with little gold pegs

dh says it is utterly birds of a feather

I love a bit of kitsch though me

JackieNoHoHo · 16/12/2006 22:25

I'm with princesspeahead, and stick them in a bowl too. Can't be doing with them all over the place.

WethreebobKings · 16/12/2006 22:27

They are in a pile on the coffee table. I must buy some bluetac really.

TEEstheCEEsontobejolly · 16/12/2006 22:28

well thank you to the poster who suggested on of those pikey pound shop places!
I went into one and they had some little xmas tree pegs with gold string and my cards are now out of the way and there is room for the 5th and 1st birthday cards that we shall start openikng as of tomorrow

put them in the venetian blinds int he front room and then the extras go on a beady rope which has pegs attached - strung between the curtain holders in the front room.

FairytaleOfNewNORKSBRIDE · 16/12/2006 22:49

In a wooden tray in the hall. A few are on chimneypieces.

Half will be recycled into next years gift tags and the rest to recycled paper box.

Might buy a piano though...

Glitterygookwithchocsonthetree · 16/12/2006 22:52

I display mine in a big pile on top of the breadmaker in the kitchen.

Hate them - they look untidy and just fall down all the time.

Humbug.

Whizzz · 16/12/2006 22:56

found it

suedonim · 16/12/2006 23:25

Some are on the sofa, some on a kitchen worktop, some on the kitchen table and there are probably a few under the table but I have no intention of looking there.

blossomsmine · 16/12/2006 23:34

That red stuff that Anthea uses is sticky both sides and very strong, I usually get it from garden centres but it always goes fast so you may have missed it. Think its called gripper tape.

WethreebobKings · 17/12/2006 07:23

Have just stapled them together into one large picture. Thanks for that idea.

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 17/12/2006 09:04

Oooo we have a posh Gold wire sleigh type thing with an arch on it to hold the cards. I've stood all the family ones on top of the piano as it seems to be the only place they dont get knocked down.
My mum used to put all the cards together that were a similar shape, line them up, turn them over and sellotape the back and hung them on the wall in lines.
