I haven't seen it yet, Gg, does look brutal from clips. Saw Everest the other day - brutal too! Put me right off climbing Everest! ;)

The scenery was stunning - well what I could see of it from in between my fingers...

TheWoollybacksWife · 05/02/2016 20:50

I've already told DD1 that if DH wants to go and see The Revenant then she's going with him (she's 21) - I'm more your Disney/Pixar kinda gal Grin

I saw The Lady in the Van this week with MIL. What I didn't realise was that it was a Silver Screening and I was the only audience member without a bus pass. The chap at the box office charged me for two concessions, though

Have a lovely anniversary Biddy Flowers

Paperblank · 05/02/2016 20:57

DH suggested a trip to the cinema last weekend due to the imminent arrival of Baby Blank...what a decent chap I thought Smile

He suggested The Reverent or The Hateful Eight. I said er...on you go pal, I'll stay at home and watch Life of Pi!

Xmas Grin you're keen to release your inner Ted Rogers there Constantly

DD and I were noseying round John Lewis today, there were some (sale) Hallowe'en lollies and some Christmas sweets/chocolates, marooned in the Valentine and Easter confectionary.

(Didn't buy any, DD was all "Hallowe'en was over three months ago" )

Hi all, I dropped off thread, have had three poorly dcs, so am just place marking to catch up.

Anybody planning anything for valentines? Feeling a bit flat about it, as things aren't great between me and dh. Wish somebody had told me how hard being a grown up can be Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/02/2016 21:14

I'm far too old and cynical to celebrate Hallmark Valentines Day. Plus I'm too tight to pay extra for the privilege of eating in a dimly lit restaurant. Plus (again) my period is due next weekend TMI, although I'm playing "Menopausal Period Roulette" so who knows what can happen. So just call me The Lurrrve Grinch GrinGrin

I hope your DCs are on the mend Daisy

daisydalrymple · 07/02/2016 21:55

Oh i totally agree about the not eating out on Valentine's. I've worked a couple of them (pub/restaurant) and it's the most awful fake stilted atmosphere, all couples not wanting to be overheard whispering, wanting to make sure they get every last drop of the complementary glass of bubbly etc.

Yes children on the mend thanks, dc3 had hand, foot and mouth, wasn't sure if older two had usual cough cold, or getting it too, but so far seem better. (Coincided with washing machine broken for ten days so timing could have been better Grin)

BiddyPop · 08/02/2016 08:31

We did get out for dinner on Saturday night, to a restaurant we frequented for posh nights in our early days. As our anniversary is the week before Valentines, we do tend to focus on that rather than the big V.

If I think of it, I might get DH a card though....[kiss]

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/02/2016 19:57

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Tuts @ Biddy no countdown . Yesterday was 320.

Soooo, today is 319
Into the teens Xmas Grin

Does that make it a little better?! Wink

Wishing you all a wonderfully penitential Ash Wednesday......(Smile)

Paperblank · 10/02/2016 08:56

DH asked me what I wanted for Valentines Day and said "we'll it won't be that romantic anyway, you're about to pop and I'm working until 9.00pm"

I know that a night of passion was hardly on the cards (Although...it might encourage this baby to put in an appearance) and champagne and lobster are off the menu but I was expecting a bit of an effort!

daisydalrymple · 10/02/2016 19:54

Ooh not long till its under 300 Smile when are you due paper? I was 11 days over with ds1, 5 with dd, and ds2 decided to surprise us 3.5 wks early, with everything still in the loft!

Paperblank · 10/02/2016 20:07

Daisy

I'll find out tomorrow Smile for a number of reasons I'll be induced at 38 weeks so I'm likely to go in around 21st.

Thankfully we're all ready to go. This has been my first week of maternity leave (and I've been quite busy!) and I'm hoping to have a quiet week next week to gather my thoughts (and drink lots of tea and eat lots of cake!)

AbbyCadabby · 11/02/2016 12:15

How exciting, Paper.

Don't really bother with V day here either. I'm all about Xmas! Xmas Grin

Ooh Paper, how lovely! A new baby on the countdown thread! I shall do my best not to come over all broody not making any promises though Grin

We don't bother with Valentine's Day, I can't think of anything either of us would like less than being in a roomful of other couples being awkwardly/publicly 'romantic' and paying way over the odds to do so! We have a 'date night' dinner every Friday anyway, either at home or out, so I don't feel like I'm missing out at all Smile

Bought a few more Easter bits today - a lovely dress from Monsoon for DD (I always buy her a couple of presents for Easter, but set a budget of about £30 - the dress was down from £89 to £13 so I've still got a bit left over!), a few chocolatey bits and some pastel flower fairy lights. Can't wait for Easter - it's been so springlike here this week and the evenings are noticeably drawing out, it really won't be long!

daisydalrymple · 11/02/2016 19:14

Dc3 had an epic tantrum today (dear lord, terrible twos at 15mo), so I calmed myself watching Jamie Oliver's christmas shows, I found a couple on catch up Grin

paper despite the above, I am so broody for a fourth, I don't think our marriage would survive it however, so I look forward to lots of newborn tales Smile

I got a couple of bits for Easter today too, not realising its a while away yet!

Paperblank · 11/02/2016 20:35

If all goes to plan I will be going in on 22nd Feb, unless of course this little one decides it isn't going to wait that long. (11 days. 11 DAYS Shock)

I am assuming you want to see pics of my squishy newborn? Grin

In the spirit of thus thread I would be highly delighted if the baby was born on a Rudolph Day, can you imagine! How cool would that be?

poor child. Its mother is a christmas nut

daisydalrymple · 11/02/2016 21:29

Dc3 managed a rudolf day Grin

You may give birth on ds1's birthday, depending on when things start off!

And yes, I think photos are definitely required!

11 whole days, you can plan christmas 2016 completely in that time and have no stress come December Wink

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/02/2016 18:32

Yes, of course photos of the squishy newborn Grin. I love them when they are just tooooo tired to keep their eyes open .
DS used to do a little head-nod, have one eye open, roll his eyes back (that freaked me out) and a little Elvis lip curl smile.
(He's 16 now and does none of those cute things)

Put your feet up and make lists Paper . BabyBlank might hang on till the 25th (my DS hung on an extra week, lazy git )

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/02/2016 18:34

Actually, my DD has a Rudolph day Birthday too Xmas Grin
