What to do with panettone?

MIL has bought us a panettone, but I've never had one before. This may sound stupid but how are you meant to eat it? It's one with currants in and is fairly large!

We slice, toast, slather with butter, devour. Makes a nice Christmas Day breakfast.

Have a lovely Christmas

Slice it and offer to guests as you would xmas cake or mince pies

It is incredibly moreish so be warned!

Tear off chunks, and enjoy with a glass of sherry.

Makes lovely French toast. Or bread and butter pudding.

I like to slice it horizontally a few times. Then fill it with a mix of mascarpone, a little icing sugar, orange zest and a crushed flake. Then chill for a yummy pudding.

Just eat it!

I've only ever gifted them, never eaten them.

Stollen on the other hand..... Sheesh in could eat that for breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, supper and as an in between snack.

Simply eat it.

I spent christmas in Italy with Italian family. It was often eaten while drinking a glass of good spumante or espresso.

I'd have it with Prosecco.

Bin it, it's airy weirdness.

I don't like prosecco but have some nice un-festive special rum to wash it down with. I'm so tempted to crack it open now...

You need cheese with cheese?

We cut off the top, then leaving an edge and bottom of about an inch, scoop the rest of the inside out and stuff with vanilla ice-cream. Put the top back on and leave in the freezer. Cut in slices and serve with cream as a Christmas dessert.

Loving your recipe, MrsB ! When it's no longer at peak freshness, I slice and toast it and top with a dollop of vanilla icecream - similar, but not as posh! And yours has the bonus of having to dispose of the inner parts whilst in the kitchen

Stale bread masquerading as cake. Give it to someone else.

Shovel it in and wash it down with a glass of cava.

Toast it and put butter on it in cheese sized slices. Mine arrived today - I am very excited about tomorrow's breakfast!

I hope mine isn't stale KP86 - I'm in the process of making it

It is divine.

It makes wonderful bread and butter pudding - all that airy nothingness makes an excellent spongy medium for B&B pudding.

Just chuck it out and start in the Baileys and Cheeselets.
