CremeEggThief · 22/12/2015 18:54

£70.10 in the end on my online order from Sainsburys, but they didn't have 2 items I wanted, so I will try to pick them up in the next two days.

Suzietwo · 22/12/2015 19:13

110 in lidl yesterday
170 in tesco today
65 Turkey
150 booze

So about 500 quid which includes weekly shopping

We've got 25 adults and 15 children on Christmas Eve for a drinks party so it includes booze and food for that
8 adults and 3 children for Christmas Day

It also includes 4 led spot lights at SIX POUNDS FIGTY each. I was told we were desperate but not that desperate apparently. They are going back.

Fannyupcrutch · 22/12/2015 19:15

About £420 for a family of 6,Christmas day is for 9 but the visitors are bringing the turkey. That also includes drink and food for xmas eve and all the way through until 3rd jan ( excluding a top up www.mumsnet.com/food-content/12-festive-drinks?slidershop of veg/milk etc )

TheHumanSatsuma · 22/12/2015 19:19

About £60 in "fancy bits" and £14.17 for my big shop...Nectar points I love you! (As long as I don't work out how much I spent to get £107 on my card)

Lidl has carrots, potatoes, sprouts and parsnips for 29p

TheHumanSatsuma · 22/12/2015 19:22

forgot to add, 4 of us. Dh and me and grown up son and daughter who are coming home for Christmas Smile

AnneEyhtMeyer · 22/12/2015 19:24

Probably about £350 ish for 4 adults and a child.

I've got about £160 worth coming tomorrow from Ocado, I spent about £120 in Costco today and I've already spent about £60 on stuff already. I will probably spend £20 or £30 on last minute stuff over the next couple of days.

I won't do another shop until the new year though.

Purplehonesty · 22/12/2015 19:26

So far about £20 on ingredients for desserts as that's all I am taking to mils.
Boxing Day about £30 as we are hosting my dad but it's only a simple ham joint dinner and we have plenty wine in.
So not much at all really it's quite nice!
I will get some nibbles in for Boxing Day teatime and then the shops will be open again and we will be back to normal eating.

Bubbletree4 · 22/12/2015 19:28

£100 tesco shop today. Includes turkey etc and rest of that shopping will last about 5 days.

helensburgh · 22/12/2015 19:30

£130 for hopefully enough to last a week. Including Christmas dinner for 6.

PurpleThermalsNowItsWinter · 22/12/2015 19:36

£70 weekly shop.
But I haven't yet paid for the alcohol or turkey (which are hopefully being delivered tomorrow).
Only 4 of us although there may be extras for meals on Christmas Eve & after Boxing Day. We have an open door over Christmas.

GlamOn · 22/12/2015 19:36

£250 at Sainsbury's.. And we're not even hosting Blush

GoooRooo · 22/12/2015 19:53

I've just finished the online order. £270 for four adults and two children for xmas eve, xmas day and boxing day, and that shop will be enough for meals to take us into the new year. Might have to top up on bread and milk at some point.

However that does include replacing a load of booze that was drunk by our neighbours at a shin dig we threw a couple of weeks ago and that likely won't be drunk by us over Christmas but will be shoved in the drinks cupboard. So that's £50 more than we would usually spend.

MarlenaGru · 22/12/2015 20:14

We have 4 adults and 2 DC from 23rd -25th breakfast, then 6 adults and 4 DC for lunch and snacks and then 4 adults and 2 DC on 26th and 27th.

Abel and Cole meat and veg for 25th lunch = £50
Gammons, salmon starters, meatballs, homemade pizzas and sausage rolls, homemade Xmas pudding, cake, mince pies and all the associated trimmings as well as Prosecco, port, cheese and sherry = £250 ish
Wine, more Prosecco and a few other Aldi "essentials" £50

There are a lot of meals covered. And mil has contributed this year!

ChristmasEvePJs · 22/12/2015 20:29

Six adults, 1 teen and 2DC's here. I have just spent £205 in Sainsburys and £48 in Lidl. Have my meat order to collect on Christmas eve, it will be between £140 and £150.

That said we should only need bread, milk and a bit of fruit and veg between now and Hogmanay.

CookieDoughKid · 22/12/2015 21:52

£110 for three Xmas days worth, family of four on Xmas day, light cold buffet on Boxing Day for 6 adults and same again for 8 adults on day after boxing day but I will need to do a little top up then for then.

I'm making my own canapes from scratch, things like mini baked spuds wrapped in bacon, and chicken skewers!

BananaThePoet · 22/12/2015 23:43

£20,000 for Christmas Day to provide for two adults and a minor.
That includes:
gold-leaf decorated chocolate truffle cakes individually fashioned by Heston Bloomingtwit.

A five bird roast made up of a hummingbird stuffed into a nightingale stuffed into a phoenix stuffed into a dodo stuffed into a griffin.
Mince pies sprinkled with crushed diamonds and icing sugar.
Rare fruits served on limited edition chocolate plates from M&S.
No alcohol this year as a gesture of solidarity to those affected by austerity.

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 23/12/2015 03:03

Well done Banana

LeighTaylor86 · 23/12/2015 05:00

I've just spent £200, without alcohol for Xmas day alone. There's 14 of us for dinner which includes starters and desserts. I didn't even buy the turkey or gammon, only the beef! That does include the buffet food for the evening too. Also all soft drinks. Crazy isn't it. One day!

MummyPig24 · 23/12/2015 08:11

About £100 for 7 people. Includes regular stuff like fruit and milk and lots of drinks.

Sparrowlegs248 · 23/12/2015 09:00

£10 on a half price piece of beef
£8 half price port.

That's it. There's me, 5mo ebf baby. Husband who may or may not be here!

InMySpareTime · 23/12/2015 10:15

At last, some people who spent less than I did! I was starting to think I was missing something...

CakeNinja · 23/12/2015 13:27

All in £550 for 6 of us for Christmas dinner, (3 of whom are children) and an additional 4 adults in the evening for buffet and drinks.
That was also a bit of food for this week though, so not all on one meal.
It includes 3 magnums of prosecco, a naice bottle of vodka and gin (£40 each), beers, a case of red wine and a case of white. So at least £200 was spent on booze and it won't all be drunk obviously!

SafariOrigami · 23/12/2015 13:46

I seem to have spent a fortune this year!
I spent £110 in M&S, this included a crackling gammon, prawns, smoked salmon, desserts, and loads of nibbles like olives, nuts, huge tub of grapes, tray of cherries, chutneys, and lots of extras like mash, fresh chips, potato croquettes, gratin etc to make the left over meat into dinners for several days.

Then I spent £100 in Aldi - this was for veg (carrots, parsnips, etc), 2 bottle of prosecco, 6 bottles of wine, 6 beers and a baileys. All the usual stuff like toilet rolls etc.

We have to pick up the turkey tomorrow (am contemplating an aldi one now) and 2 sherry trifles from M&S and fresh milk and bread.

We are away on Christmas Day! But I will cook a full christmas dinner on boxing day just for us as we LOVE christmas dinner and I won't care what our host does or doesn't do on the day once I know we have our own to look forward to. Plus it will be a day to relax and eat and drink wine after spending the day on the road on Christmas day to suit my family.

There are 2 adults and 1 10yr old in our house, but we will not shop again apart from milk / bread until the new year.

I LOVE knowing the house is stocked up and is full of delicious things and I don't have to set foot in a shop for many days now......bliss!

mumtoone84 · 23/12/2015 14:00

I've spent £25.00 however total value is around £130 as I had £70 m&s vouchers and £20 waitrose vouchers that I got for free.

I'm going to inlaws for Christmas Day meal so much of the food shop was for the days around and up to around the 29th. Lots of pates, champagne, cheese, smoked salmon and nibbly bits. I also got a small turkey joint to feed the 3 of us a couple of days after Christmas so we can have our own Christmas meal.

It's always great picking up things that looks nice and not care about the cost. I've had pleurisy for a week and been in dreadful pain however I think the antibiotics are finally kicking in and all going well I'll take the last few tablets tomorrow and be able to enjoy my champagne come Christmas morning!

annielostit · 23/12/2015 14:23

I expect its £350 - split between m&s TESCO & butchers. 6 for main event. Wine & champers included.
The fridge & freezer are buldging. No food shopping for 2 weeks though. All saved up through the year and buying bits early.
