Well, you've just cost me £38, OP - that Fischertechnik Rolling Action set looks fab so I've ordered it!

DS (8) has:
Lego Dimensions starter set plus the Portal level pack
Radio controlled quad-copter with camera
Fischertechnik Rolling Action Grin
Ferrari steering wheel for his XBox (if it turns up in time....)
New XBox headset
Top Gear book
Magnetic putty
Poo emoji soft toy
Balloon amimal kit
Silicone watch
Eddie Stobart car transporter
Some weird Science Museum slinky bubble spring thing that looked awesome when the woman was playing with it in Hawkins Bazaar but will probably be crap - this is for 'Santa' (who looks remarkably like my DH) to give him at our friend's party on Saturday though.

spiderlight · 17/12/2015 13:04

(That looks a lot, reaading back, but the Portal pack and the Fischertechnik set will be from my dad, who's 91 and can't get out to buy presents)

EmGee · 17/12/2015 13:06

I've bypassed most of the responses so that I don't twitch!!

I always think these threads get derailed by differing opinions of what is 'enough', 'too much' or 'not enough'.

Doesn't matter really though does it? Each to their own.....

FWIW, my kids get one present from us for under the tree (this year it's a fancy dress costume which one DD spied so I had to take it off the stocking list) - most of the presents go in the stocking so in fact, they get quite a lot in the stocking.

This year each stocking includes:

Leapfrog tablet (DD6) and Leapfrog Reader pen (DD3.5) + games/books
Colouring pens, colouring books
A dress
A swimsuit
Cuddly toy
Barbie doll and a Barbie dvd
Craft kit (e.g. Djeco/Aquarellum)
Books + audio cds (lots.....went a bit mad at the Book People)
Hair bobbles and clips
Character knickers and socks
Games (Party, party party!, a Kloo game, Coppit)
Jigsaw
Tangleteezer

Plus a few extra bits like fairy dust (got that idea from the Christmas thread), and probably cute pencils, key rings etc. DD2 is also getting a duvet cover.

I would much rather pad out the stocking with useful items (clothing, socks, pants etc - my kids seem to love this!) than putting plastic tat in.

caitlinohara · 18/12/2015 09:31

Mine never know what they want (I attribute this to them not watching much telly with adverts on it and the fact that we live semi rurally with no toy shops!) so they ask Santa for one or two 'little' things and then me and dh get them some things we think they will like, often to share.

From Santa:
DS1 (8)
Darth Vader costume
Darth vader lightsaber
Puzzle book, felt tips, science putty, hot wheels car, sweets

DS2(6)
Luke Skywalker costume
Luke Skywalker lightsaber
Puzzle book, felt tips, science putty, hot wheels car, sweets

DS3(3)
Hama maxi beads
a few wooden Thomas trains (2nd hand off eBay!)
couple of Mr Men books

From me and dh:
A jigsaw each (I buy them one every year, I suspect partly for my own benefit!)
An MP3 player each for the older two and a docking station to share so they can play music in their room
A tap-tap art set for ds3
A car transporter for ds2 that he saw in town a few weeks ago
A pin art thing that ds1 was playing with in a shop in town a few weeks ago.
A Hexbug Nano set to share, 2nd hand off eBay

God that looks quite a lot all written down and I thought I had reined it in this year!

WeirdCatLadyIsFeelingFestive · 19/12/2015 10:02

Dd(14) has asked for cash to spend on graphic novels/manga so we've made her a cash pizza from £100. She's also getting an outrageously expensive quidditch jumper from Harry Potter Studio Tour, a posh pen and some Lego stuff.

Father Christmas has got a tad carried away again...
BB-8 droid (iPad controlled)
Special edition Batman design Converse boots
Complete collection of Death Note manga books
4 graphic novels
Pile of books
Set of Death Note figurines
Black Butler plush
Collection of gemstone bracelets
Choccy

Xmas Grin
Aliiiii · 19/12/2015 10:22

Can anyone tell me the age range for the David baddiel book? Sounds right up my DS10s street!

SatsukiKusakabe · 19/12/2015 10:39

It says 9 and up. I've bought it for a 9 year old, the protagonists are boy/girl twins. The amazon reviews seemed to be mainly for 9/10 year olds, with a couple younger and older, which helped me choose it!

Aliiiii · 19/12/2015 10:42

Lovely, will have to buy it now Xmas Smile
