Thomas take and play set

Dd will be around 22 weeks and we're not getting her anything (we bought her a walker thing with our Xmas savings though back in October if that counts)
Some of these lists are enormous-and good on you! I'd love to get both of mine more but just can't afford too.plus they will both get lots from family.

fresta · 16/12/2015 19:04

I struggled this year as dd hasn't asked for a main present, all she wanted was new slippers and pjs, but managed to find some nice bits I think she will like.
I don't know anyone in real life that only buys one gift for their child, and I can't see anyone on this thread that has an excessive list in my eyes. Most people seem to go for a few main prezzies and a few smaller gifts for stockings.
My dd (age 10) has

pyjamas
slippers
2 board games (family type ones)
3 books
blue tooth speaker
hair chalks
make-up set
teddy bear
pig popper
bean boozled
lego popstars stage
exploding kittens

she will also get a few prezzies from family

I want to buy some more things for my daughter, so seeing what people buy for children a similar age is very useful. I didn't even know about Lego Elves until I saw this thread. Buy as little or as much as you want, it doesn't bother me.

CheerfulYank · 17/12/2015 07:33

We're doing the four present thing: Something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read. So in that order:

DS(8)
Kindle Fire HD
A desk we refurbished and office supplies for drawing and homework (he will LOVE this)
Darth Vader sweatshirt
I don't know what book we're getting yet!

DD (2)
Play kitchen
A quilt
Brand new big girl Frozen underwear (hope this leads to an interest in the potty!)
I forget the name of the book but it's a Shirley Hughes

DS2 (7 months)
Ramp thing with balls
Chair that straps onto the table
Socks
Little Blue Truck board book

Plus stocking tat and Christmas Eve box. Fun thread! :)

SatsukiKusakabe · 17/12/2015 07:46

yes, luna I've been googling stuff as I read, too. But I have really absolutely finished Xmas Hmm

I bought Lego Elves for a child in the family, it is so lovely. The colours are great and it has such nice little touches. Much prefer it to Lego Friends. I got the Pegasus sleigh and I could have kept it for myself Lego geek

Cheerful I got the new David Baddiel book 'The Person Controller' for an 8 year old recently, it's a lovely looking book and good if they like computer games, it went down well.

Penguito · 17/12/2015 08:06

pompster · 17/12/2015 08:24

DS (11)

Star Wars PJs
3 x Harry Potter books
Star Wars book
Small Lego Star Wars set
2 DVDs - Minions and Inside Out
Stocking with little bits such as chocs, Lynx, shower gel, hair gel etc

I really don't feel I've got him enough, his Dad has got him his own few presents - DS didn't really have much on his list this year!

LunaLodbrok · 17/12/2015 08:28

Satsuki, it looks great kind of Lord of the Rings meets Lego. I'm going to have a look at some.

CheerfulYank · 17/12/2015 11:57

The Person Controller looks awesome, Satsuki! He'd really like that but it won't make it to me (from amazon) by Christmas. I'm putting it on my list though! I might do a boxed set of the Narnia books ...

Treats · 17/12/2015 12:17

Gah! Where were you lot a month ago when I was desperately trying to decide what to get mine? Some really great ideas here, but I'm done shopping and spending this year.

DD (6)
Playmobil Swimming pool
Rush Hour game (after recommendation from this board - looking forward to playing this with her)

DS (2)
Brio Railway Switch set

Just the one or two big things each, but they've got loads in their stockings including a new pair of swimming goggles and nice pants each (DSs first set of both), books, colouring/ puzzle books, chocolates, small toys. I put a lot of time and thought into buying the stocking presents, so that's where my effort goes.

They'll get loads from family as well - I never worry that they don't get enough.

SatsukiKusakabe · 17/12/2015 12:34

I'm now wondering if I should have got goggles for my 2 year old as well treats... She wants everything her brother has...

You know you're so right about amounts of stuff - last year my ds opened his stocking upstairs and was genuinely shocked there were more presents when he came down. He thought that was it and was thrilled with it. I do worry about overdoing it, but don't spend all that much as never get anything full price and use vouchers etc, I really enjoy buying toys though and it's the only time I let myself indulge as I feel I'm always the one saying no all year.

Lots of lucky children on this thread, it's so nice seeing all the thought and effort that goes in to making it special for them and how people approach it in different ways Xmas Smile
