I'm looking for inspiration for a Christmas Eve meal. I've asked the family and they've not helped.

I'll be busy prepping for Christmas Day so it can't be too time consuming. Ideally fairly light and not using anything we'll eat on Christmas Day.

Happy to go for something convenient.

Salmon en cruet with cauliflower cheese (both bought pre prepared so just need to go in the oven). Followed by birthday cake - mine!

We get sushi with some edamame, gyozas, eaten with a cold beer or two. Nice and snacky, not too filling and no clearing up for me! Nice to have something different as Christmas Day and Boxing day the food is so traditional.

enormous plates of paella, lots of wine and mincepies, eaten before collapsing in front of fire with festive film, love xmas eve Smile

Macaroni cheese and chips every year, followed by my mum's sherry trifle.

Can't wait!

We start the snacky food every year. Bread, salad, cheese, ham dips etc. DH often cooks a ham joint to eat over the Christmas period. But generally it's what is quick and easy as we do quite a lot of socialising on Xmas eve.

Boiled roast ham, served hot from the oven. Cauliflower cheese. New potatoes.

We are going Spanish this year and having tapas; squid, Serrano ham, olives, croquettas, tortilla, aioli, Rioja Xmas Grin

Curry. We get a lovely takeaway. Everyone loves it and there's no cooking or mess.

Salmon here too, with steamed veg and rice.

I am going for the healthy salmon route too.
