We normally just have chocolates! But I am planning to do the dinner a bit later at about 4pm ish so want something a bit more substantial. What sort of things do you all have?

This year I'm making maple and pecan pancakes. I'll make the mixture the night before.

FurryDogMother · 06/12/2015 11:42

This year it'll be smoked salmon and cream cheese on home made soda bread, with a chive sprinkle, and Buck's Fizz.

WiryElevator · 06/12/2015 12:19

Kringle (made with DD on Xmas Eve, cooked and iced on the morning)
Fresh juice for DC, properly strong coffee for us

Seabiscotti · 06/12/2015 12:24

Pain au chocolate, croissants and pancakes.

OopsEEDaisyButtercup · 06/12/2015 12:30

Grown ups have scrambled eggs and salmon (often with an advocaat as I'm cooking - sounds yuk but gets me in the spirit- it's the one day of the year when we do drink alcohol early in the day!!!), kids have usual b'fast.

Some of the ideas on the thread sound pretty scrumptious though! Will have to try a few in the run-up!

OopsEEDaisyButtercup · 06/12/2015 12:31

WiryElevator: what's Kringle?

peartatty · 06/12/2015 13:55

Chocolate orange.

WiryElevator · 06/12/2015 14:36

Oops - it's like a massive Danish pastry, made with cinnamon, cardamom and lemon zest. It has a line of butter cinnamon sugar mix running through it and then it's iced like a danish afterwards.

It is divine!

OopsEEDaisyButtercup · 06/12/2015 15:13

Wiry- I'm iff to google recipes for that one!

slug · 06/12/2015 15:14

A tradition we started when DB stayed one Xmas. Fresh fruit smoothies. On Christmas morning the blender comes out ant the fruit bowl is perused for the best combination. I make sure I have at least a melon, some clementines and some tropical fruit available. Slacken it down with some OJ and not only do you get a nice breakfast, but a good whack of vitamin C and fibre into the mix. We do this every morning until the fruit runs out.

If it's just DH,DC and myself, toast and coffee.

If it's a full house (this year and last year 6 adults, 2DC)
Full breakfast, (sausage, bacon, eggs, potato scones) toast, coffee, tea, fruit juice.
I'll make pancakes for DS
Toast and jam

I'm wheat free/limited dairy so mine will be FreeFrom bread toast and eggs.

I will get up early, bagsie the bathroom for a shower and hair wash, then put our guinea pigs in their Pighouse.

And I've bought myself festive leggings to cook breakfast in Xmas Grin with a sleeveless top and dressing gown.
Then I'll change into naice clothes .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2015 15:25

Ooh - seems like a lot, but we have dinner after 4pm (when it's dark) and my DDad is diabetic so I need to cook 'proper' things, he can't have a Selection Box Grin

kirinm · 06/12/2015 15:34

Eggs Benedict with cocktails (but my son is a grown up)!

Topseyt · 06/12/2015 17:09

I have done smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels before, or sometimes scrambled eggs. Still deciding which I will do this year.

We ALWAYS start with Bucks Fizz. It has to be done, you know! Wink Would be rude not to. Xmas Grin

CaptainCallisto · 06/12/2015 17:17

When I was little it was always toast/crumpets with real butter, because we didn't usually have it. It was such a treat!

These days I tend to whack a load of porridge in the slow cooker on Christmas Eve (which we usually have with brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins - yum!), then bacon sarnies, or the aforementioned buttered toast.

This year we'll be at PIL so no idea! Wonder if I should drop hints about bacon...?

SoftBlocks · 06/12/2015 17:25

Chocolate coins. Then later smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, pastries and fruit salad. A bit of fizz would be nice although someone's got to drive to BIL's this year ...

Xenadog · 06/12/2015 17:28

Pork pie and pickle!

MarthaMonkeynuts · 06/12/2015 17:33

Christmas ~Fruit~ Tree with/without pancakes!

What do you have for Christmas breakfast?
clippityclop · 06/12/2015 17:39

Martha that's wonderful, that's what we'll have with our pancakes this year.

Sallystyle · 06/12/2015 18:26

Chocolate.

Can't stand the thought of breakfast at the best of times. Especially not before a big Xmas dinner.

lighteningirl · 06/12/2015 18:29

I'm doing Slimming World so smoked salmon scrambled eggs and mushrooms with champagne for me dh gets same with toast kids have whatever they like chocolate

Millie2013 · 06/12/2015 18:30

Full English with Buck's Fizz. We don't have "lunch" until 5 ish

RatOnnaStick · 06/12/2015 18:32

Pain au chocolate or, more likely, toast and strong black coffee. Dh is mumbling this year about eggs benedict. He can bloody well make it.

Paperblank · 06/12/2015 18:33

Croissants, posh jam, OJ, coffee and champagne. The first bottle gets opened at about 9.30 Xmas Shock.

Christmas Dinner is usually at about 4 as we're a family of potterers and faff about until then.

hazeyjane · 06/12/2015 18:35

Jus-Rol cinnamon swirls and pain au chocolate
Fruit toast
Vat of coffee
