I am looking for a cheap parachute, or a non-pink Leapfrog move and groove thing for £7 ish, if anyone can help me please.

MrsCocoa · 01/12/2015 04:34

Don't think a parachute is the thing to scrimp on xalyss?

LinzerTorte · 01/12/2015 05:31

YoureAll It depends whether the teacher has type 1 or type 2 diabetes - if type 1, there aren't really any dietary restrictions so I would go ahead and give her the mug with hot chocolate sachets.

One thing I would avoid is "diabetic chocolate" and the like, as apparently it tastes foul. We were told that DD1 (type 1) doesn't need it as it's of no health benefit for her and, actually, food labelled as suitable for diabetics has been withdrawn from the market where we live (not UK).

Anyone noticed that the £1 e-credit has disappeared from Amazon? My last two orders didn't offer me it.the two before offered £3 each so I wonder if they've changed it.

FabFlo · 01/12/2015 07:57

Ordered a ballerina dress in Sainsburys 25% off sale today. Flowers to the poster who linked to those dresses for me. DD2 will be over the moon and will probably spend Christmas twirling around Grin

VoldemortsBaubles · 01/12/2015 08:00

vajayjay the kindle fire is a tablet with the kindle app for reading built in. It's useful if you want something you can browse the web on as well as read. But if you want something just for reading, a kindle White is better. You can't read in the sun with the fire because of glare and it's just like reading off a computer screen whereas the normal kindles feel more like reading off paper.

FabFlo · 01/12/2015 08:04

And also Flowers for the teacher ideas. Really appreaciate the links and ideas. Have soeted out what I'm doing now and thankfully it doesn't involve sending DD1 in with big bottles of wine!

AdmiralCLingus · 01/12/2015 08:44

cadance I checked the receipts this morning and they appear to be random what you get... I have one for 25% off diaries and calenders and two for 15% off ink cartridges.

Boots don't do diabetic hot chocolate but they do a range of sugar free biscuits and sweets that my type 1 diabetic friend says are lovely.

The soap and glory set is usually the penultimate star gift and the final one is always the big no7 hamper, and that runs until after Christmas..

LittleMissGreen · 01/12/2015 09:19

TheDrsDocMartens I think it depends what you buy, I've seen anything from £0 - £3, and they all have varying use by dates too.

TobleroneBoo · 01/12/2015 09:29

Sorry if this encourages any twitching but Sports Direct have a My Little Pony Digi cam set which includes camera, flashlight & binoculars down to £7.99 from £29.99 apparently

And speaking of things not to scrimp on... Did anyone see them testing fake cycle and motorcyle helmets on tv (Watchdog? something like that) last night?

Basically somebody bought what they thought was a genuine good brand of helmet through Amazon - albeit the marketplace bit. Luckily they recognised it wasn't when it arrived so didn't use it. When they tested it, it broke. It let ten times more force through to the head inside than the real one - and five times more than the legal limit. It even ended with the test head inside being damaged which doesn't usually happen. If it had been a real head in a real accident - it wouldn't have given any protection.

And the motorcycle helmet was similarly bad - and maybe even worse because the visor broke. If it was a real accident that could have really badly cut across the person's face and eyes...

So for anyone getting cycle helmets for presents - please double check that they are the genuine thing!

Nursenat100 and Dingbatsfur thank you, they both sound great! :D

Oreocrumbs · 01/12/2015 10:13

Twitching on the mlp camera but £5 to deliver to store Shock me thinks not, I'll go and see if they have one in person.

LibidinousTurkey · 01/12/2015 10:18

DS has chosen a pair of boots from the LaRedoute site while it was half price. Despite my gentle leading, he has chosen a pair that look like those medical type boots that children were forced to wear in the seventies. Bargainous is not so good if the purchase turns out to be something that would look at home in a medical museum

On a brighter note, December 1st is Christmas name change day

SitsOnFence · 01/12/2015 10:29

Help! Does anyone buy IKEA wrapping paper? I am sending DH in with a list today and thought now would be a good time to stock up on wrapping paper, but I can't for the life of me work out how much paper is in their multi wrap packs.

For example; in this 4 pack of paper is it 3m per roll (i.e. 12m in total) which would be very bargainous at just £5, or is it 3m in total (i.e. 75cm per roll) which would be decidedly less bargainous considering how much wrapping I have to do?

Thank you!

Oreocrumbs · 01/12/2015 10:46

They are 3m each SitsOnFence Smile

TobleroneBoo · 01/12/2015 10:47

Oreo I agree and I dont even want the MLP camera! This has always put me off Sports Direct. Im not sure if they are still doing it but they were giving a £5 off voucher for your next purchase to kind of balance it out, but its still a bloody cheek

SitsOnFence · 01/12/2015 10:58

Fantastic, thanks Oreo, I was hoping it was but the ones on the photo looked rather skinny!

Penguito · 01/12/2015 11:19

Notso · 01/12/2015 11:26

Penguito can you collect all the freebies from Whsmiths or do you just have to choose one?

Penguito · 01/12/2015 11:36

They all have separate codes so I can't see why not. I'm going to try and get them all, even if I have to go in a few separate times!

Kerrierr · 01/12/2015 11:39

You can get all the 02 priority deals at once in whsmiths. When I last went in the lady behind the till even reminded me about one I hadn't got and they mostly have them behind the till if you can't find in the shop.
