Inspire me, what are you getting your DH/DP? (or give me gift ideas!)

I'm really really struggling for ideas for DH. He doesn't really 'do' clothes shopping, he recently bought himself a new coat in the sale which was the only thing he needed. He's in to cycling, but seriously and the kit he likes is bloody expensive is pretty specialised and I'm unlikely to get it right (plus he's being sponsored this year so is getting lots of freebies).

For last birthday I got him cufflinks (managed to get some made that were special to him), last Christmas a watch, and birthday before I got a framed print of the lyrics to his favourite song.

I'm all out of ideas - so shamelessly hoping to steal yours!

Ive got DH a game and Star Wars BB8 controller for his Xbox, a pair of Beats earphones and a wee Kindle Fire.

Can you tell he's a gadget geek?

Getting him a ps4 game and making him a sweeties/chocolate/crap hamper and hiding the game at the bottom, gunna kid in I can't afford it and surprise him*

*if I dont Spoilt it like every year and tell him before then

I got him a coat but decided to give it to him a couple of weeks ago, as it was really cold and his coat was old and thin (never buys himself clothes). So now I have virtually nothing!

A book (the new Galbraith)

A water bottle and some gels etc for runnning
A jumper

That's it so far. Will get him some beer and some foodie stuff, maybe some jeans (he has two ancient pairs and claims not to need any) and maybe some trainers.

A "beer for a year" subscription (12 bottles of beer delivered 4 times in the year", with a book (1001 beers to drink before you die") and a personalised beer glass. Spot the theme!

Are you married to my DH. So hard to buy for. I managed to get Dynamo arena tickets this year as he loves the tv shows. I have in the past took him to Rugby matches with overnight stay, comedian shows again in a different city. He likes his cycling stuff but is very particular so experiences rather than things tend to get a warmer welcome.

Ticket (just the one, expensive!) to see Chris Hadfield speak. He spotted it and said it would be amazing so I booked it next day. Will probably get him Hadfield's 2 books as well.

right, have just found a website called "Look Mum, no Hands!" and found podium pants - which fits the cycling themed without being cycling, but that means that's my 'novelty gift' bit sorted, need to get something proper around the £30 - 40 mark... hmm, he's annoyingly tricky to buy for.

DS is helping and thinks Daddy needs a new keyring, apparently a lego one, his friends at work will be jealous....

My DH helpfully does a Pinterest board for me
He is having some traditional shaving stuff, alcohol and a portable speaker thing. I have also got stocking fillers like mini whiskeys, new tie, Christmas socks, favourite chocs.

I never know what to get DH so just get 'bits'

I have a dh who is into triathlons and also likes expensive cycling gear. I have got him to write me a list of items he would like for me to choose from. He ran the Great Wall of china marathon this year so I'm getting his medal and photos professionally framed as a keepsake. What about books? Dh has asked for a load of cycling ones. Then there's running kit....!

Blue tooth speakers and some chocolate.

I'm getting dh a unicycle - they're about £60 and a 'how to unicycle' book - could tie into his love of cycling but with jokes attached (I could only afford half a bike ) and be a different challenge.

He's also getting a cluedo game from Bletchley park, some Xmas beer, a desk pad, some books and music, and a globe that's been covered in blackboard paint with just thin country outlines on and a pack of chalk to plot dream journeys, previous travels, and whatever else takes his fancy (I think he will love doing this with the dc). Finally a toy camper van and a bottle of baby bio to help it 'grow' into a full sized one as I can't afford the real thing...

Plus if your dh loves cycling, I've seen some beautiful prints recently that have been done really beautifully of famous cycle competitions. And I think they might even be able to do them of your own (well your dh's!) favourite cycle if you know the route. Will try to dig out if interested.

A Unicycle!!! what a fabulous idea! Oooh, if I can't think of anything else, it might well be a goer!

Also the idea of a framed photo, he won a gold medel at the track masters this year, might be worth seeing if I can get one of the professional photos and get it framed with his medal, although might be a bit too "look at me!!!" for his liking.

I have a friend who has had a unicycle for a couple of years, he is really good on it now.

I was going to get DP some Dr Martens. 'For Life', which they repair indefinitely but ended up getting him a Crombie overcoat

My birthday and DH's are close together in tHesummer, so we bought ourselves a croquet set, to take to the local park. It's quite weighty,no DH is getting a trolley (storage and transport) for Christmas. Enjoyed by 3 generations at once.

Are Sustrans maps worth a looked for a cyclist?

We only really do a few token gifts at Xmas for each other.

So far, I've got:

A Wallet Ninja (fantastic little gadget - would recommend having a look)

A copy of the Whisky Bible 2016 by Jim Murray (I think is his name). I'm currently struggling to source a bottle of the number 1 whisky though, which I know he would love and is relatively cheap...but it's Canadian and as the book is new it's sold out everywhere.

A Helinox chair (currently on sale at Milletts, £45, RRP is £90)

They are mega-lightweight and fold down to the size of a shoe, DH has a few outdoor hobbies and this will go in his rucksack/ bike panniers. I think I might buy another one for myself actually as we normally go to a couple of festivals a year and I'm too old now to stand for hours on end.
