Confused2015xxx · 16/11/2015 15:15

I've got most of my Christmas presents in and spent around £500 where my friend spent £3000.
What's the normal?
Maybe I spend too little.
£500 is a lot of money for me but my friend was like .is that all.

Fluffy40 · 16/11/2015 20:25

Spent about 100 pounds so far. Expect the total will be around 500

CocktailQueen · 16/11/2015 20:28

Hmm, haven't added it up so will do quick tally:

Jesus.

Not far short of £2,000.

Hmm.

Redberrypie · 16/11/2015 20:34

Our budget is about £500 and we have a ridiculous amount of people to buy for, so per head it's not very much at all. Dc get approx £70 each.

elQuintoConyo · 16/11/2015 20:36

We buy for:
DS 4yo
Parents
Nieces and nephews
Couple of friends
Couple of aunts/uncles
Secret Santa between 5 friends

So far we've spent £150. Dh and i don't buy for each other, but will get something for the house - dining chairs this year, woop Grin

We don't have a lot to spend, but budget and save. Including festive food and all gifts, maybe £300? We don't do panto, new jammies/bedding, xmas jumpers, new decs every year etc.

Bin85 · 16/11/2015 20:40

Nothing except for some Duplo in a sale ages ago!

TheComforter · 16/11/2015 20:42

Nothing yet!

PunkrockerGirl · 16/11/2015 20:47

£7 so far.
The figure will have risen considerably by this time next week Grin

patterkiller · 16/11/2015 20:53

So far fossil purse £40
Hair dryers x 2 £48
Dressing gowns x2 £46
Budget £900 2 dcs, 3 parents , 4 neices and nephews and excluding DH, but I don't have an idea or budget for him.

BlueBlueSea · 16/11/2015 21:00

Nothing yet. DH and two of the DC have birthdays before Christmas, and the other DC had hers two weeks ago.

This is such an expensive time of year for me. I don't start Christmas shopping till the last Birthday has gone. That leaves me two weeks to shop. Will spend about £500.

Getabloominmoveon · 16/11/2015 21:04

Zero. Too busy working and doing other things. Will get my act together on 20 December.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/11/2015 21:04

I've spent about £200 so far. Aside from a couple of small stocking fillers each, I've finished buying for the DC, I've got part of my DH's present and part of my parents' presents. I still have 5 nieces to buy for but we only spend £5 each but then I'm done. I won't go over £300. But then my DH buys for all his side of the family which comes frrom the same account so it will probably be more like £400 combined but we're trying to be sensible this year. We'd probably £500-600 usually.

It obviously depends how many people you have to buy for, but £500-£800 would seem like a reasonable amount to me...£3,000 is an eye-wateringly ridiculous amount but that's because we don't have it!

ginmakesitallok · 16/11/2015 21:09

£13.95 on a bargain silver bracelet from amazon. Not sure who it's for yet. But it was a bargain....

seasidesally · 16/11/2015 21:25

3 children to buy for, also son has birthday just before christmas so will include that in figure

approx £1200 and not finished yet

Misty9 · 16/11/2015 22:35

Thanks millefeuille have downloaded one and now know I've spent £260 with lots still to buy! That does include santa train tickets though.

Have spent £60 each on dc and dh is encouraging me to cease. How much do other people spend on under 5s presents?

buckingfrolicks · 16/11/2015 22:44

shitloads. About £800 on a gaming computer for DS; and the same on a Mac book for DD; plus clothes and makeup for her, and guitar-related stuff for him. I feel quite bad, but other than DP (who hates christmas and refuses any present so gets some toffees!) and DM who I spend about £100 on, my DC are the only people I buy for. So I guess yes about £2000 plus a bit covers the lot - if I had a massive family I (hope) I'd spread that amount across them all.

No new decs, no new table decs, no Xmas jumpers/douvets/egg cups etc - a tree with ancient decorations, some lovely food, we don't drink booze so no cost there. It's all in the DC's presents

BiscuitMillionaire · 16/11/2015 22:45

£0
Grin
Wine

MrsMolesworth · 16/11/2015 22:46

£4 on stocking fillers. Better get started!

Philoslothy · 16/11/2015 22:50

Nothing.

we go out for the day a few days before Christmas and buy presents, if it doesn't get bought on that day they go without.

I have placed a large booze order- I cannot reveal the total.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/11/2015 23:45

Misty9, my DC are nearly 7 and 3. I usually spend £80-90 each on them...£50-60 for main presents and £30 for stocking.

MTWTFSS · 17/11/2015 07:10

£487.83.

Need to get 1 more gift for a neighbour, 1 more for postman, and lots of boxes of chocolates for family and teachers.

LuluJakey1 · 17/11/2015 07:20

£35.00. Probably will spend £300 max.

lavazzzalover · 17/11/2015 08:18

£910. I have an app on my phone so that is the max im spending. just need to tick them off as I buy them. just need to put cash in envelopes for older nieces/nephews and shopping vouchers for my dad then im done.

IjustGotmy2016diary · 18/11/2015 05:34

I have spent more this year as ds2 asked for a ps4 so the equivalent has to be spent on ds1. I do save up all year for Christmas so that helps.

soontobemrsmckeown · 18/11/2015 06:50

Havent kept count this year. Only one dd who is 3. And bought her everything shes asked for- mainly barbie playsets and craft bits. Her bday is jan so spent about 600 on her for that as shes got a new tablet and a tv, blue ray player for the play room. All my gifts are wrapped up and only 3 or 4 left to get.

wannabestressfree · 18/11/2015 07:03

I do park and received my vouchers a couple of weeks ago. I saved nearly £2000 this year but that includes some restaurant vouchers. Have got most the bits I need- do everyone a stocking children x6 and partner , brothers and sisters etc.

I absoloutely love Christmas and no doubt will twitch when paid..... :)
