I've got most of my Christmas presents in and spent around £500 where my friend spent £3000.
What's the normal?
Maybe I spend too little.
£500 is a lot of money for me but my friend was like .is that all.

Blimey at some of this! 3K???

So far nothing but it will be about £200 on the kids (presents, stockings and pjs, x 2) maybe another 100 on things like cards and small presents for a few relatives, and if we're including food, tree etc another £200.

So £500 ish in all.

Can't imagine sorting it all out at this time of year!

FluffyNinja · 03/10/2017 14:40

I've spent about €20 so far and my total budget is around €200.
I have no interest in spending money just for the sake of it.

Oly5 · 04/10/2017 09:45

I've spent about £200 on two kids. Will probably spend another £150 and then they're done.
I've spent £145 on DH, then just have two nephews, mum, SIL and brother to get

So prob £700 total

Ecureuil · 04/10/2017 09:48

£9.99 so far.
I don’t have a budget and don’t really track what I’ve spent but it’ll probably end up being about £700 total.

RosyPony · 04/10/2017 09:52

I was going to say zero but actually £18.50 on a calendar for DH.

I'll spend what is needed and not a penny more or a penny less nor will I set my spending by what other people spend.

ohtheholidays · 04/10/2017 09:57

So far £149 I've only bought 3 of DD10 presents and I saved nearly £50 on 3 for 2.

We have 5DC and I have a huge family so I still have tons to buy.

INeedToEat · 04/10/2017 09:58

Zero so far.

I'll spend £50 on DS 2 (brought an iphone7 for his birthday this month and it's for Christmas to)
£100 or so on DS1
£200 on other family
£100 on friends

2014newme · 04/10/2017 10:01

£20 so far.
I do think buy stuff months in advance as my dds have a birthday before then.

Alittlepotofrosie · 04/10/2017 10:19

£12.99.

It's going to be a very lean year.

It's weird to do it all so early before dc have had a chance to consider what they would like

I8toys · 04/10/2017 11:41

£450 xbox x project scorpio
£250 dyson hoover for mum
£30 niece
£150 ds1 so far

£10 boss' daughter
£20 colleagues at work

Still to get - fil gluten free hamper, mil smellies, boss hamper and pressie for his son, friends kids, cousins x 2. Dad - something no idea what.

MyDcAreMarvel · 04/10/2017 11:44

2014 I think most dc already know.

2014newme · 04/10/2017 12:38

Really? 3 months in advance?

Ecureuil · 04/10/2017 13:15

Mine are only nearly 4 and 2... they don’t even know it’s coming up to Christmas!

ohtheholidays · 06/10/2017 13:42

2014 ours already know what they want,DD10 had told us a couple of months ago what she would like which was really handy because it means I got a £50 present for free.

Clairenewbie · 05/12/2017 00:25

ive Just bought 1 present each for my kids...they’ve unopened presents from years before, what’s the point? Lol
If someone wants to stupidly spend 3k on presents a kid probably won’t play with most of it, then the parents are fools..id be like right kids Disneyland for Christmas with that kind of money, that way kids have memories rather than unused toys .
If you have younger kids then a few presents, if there older 1 big present and a bunch of stocking fillers like pjs slipper chocolate etc...spend what you can afford not what everyone else is spending...

I got my kids Nintendo switches each to stop them fighting over a shared one but they’ve to share the games tho which I bought 4
That’s all their getting and a pair of slippers. Because as I’ve stated I’ve tonnes of unopened presents from Xmas past..which I’ll be donating to the social work

I normally spend about £500 all in for presents - including presents for relatives, friends, teachers, DD and DH. I think I'm on track for approximately that this year or even a bit under - still have to get something for DH but think I have everything else.

I normally also spend between £120 and £200 on Christmas food and wine for the holiday - I've done a bit of spreading the cost so far, so I already have bought red wine, champagne, a bottle of gin, a bottle or two of prosecco, a pudding, a Christmas cake, and some small bits and pieces like red cabbage in the freezer. I would have had more, but DH has been at my stash of cheese, exotic crackers and chutney already Angry We don't tend to have a big starter, so I'll need to get something like gravadlax and rocket, then a good quality chicken (which we like better than turkey); and the usual pigs/spuds/veg/cream/a cooked ham etc. We live very near a Sainsburys so I don't bother doing an online shop, but just nip round in a quiet moment.

Nodancingshoes · 16/11/2018 16:14

I've saved £1000 over the year and I intend to spend all of it. 2 kids, 4 neices and nephews, 1 nan and 1 grandad to buy for

ElleMcFearsome · 16/11/2018 17:14

My spreadsheet says £685 but that's without buying DH his main present, and a few other bits I still need. I budget for about £1500 but only because we now can. I've had many years where it was £100 all in.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 16/11/2018 17:29

I have bought my niece a book from Amazon marketplace that cost 99p and that's it so far.

BlueOooChristmas · 16/11/2018 19:16

£600ish, we will end just above £1k when we've bought for everyone. Unless I find some excellent bargains, that is... Grin

PippaRabbit · 16/11/2018 19:25

Probably in the region of £3 - £3.5k. We have adult DC and DGC who have everything and are difficult to buy for. We decided this year to get the adult DC a three day break for each couple -with a babysitting pass-- and garden toys for the other DGC. The eldest DGC is getting skiing equipment for his hobby.

Angelinthenight · 16/11/2018 21:19

We have spent about £2,000 but still got money gifts to sort ,family who live a bit away and bits & bobs ,including xmas dinner will be almost £3,000.
We have 5 children ,8 neice & nephews, 12 family members & 9 teachers, .we save all year to do this.x
