I've finally convinced DP that we should start doing stockings for each other, whoop!

We've agreed nothing in the stocking should be over the £10 mark but ideally not too much over £5.

Now realised I'm a bit stuck for ideas.
So far I'm thinking

  • small bottle of wine
  • picture of him, me and DD
  • Christmas boxers

And now I'm out of ideas. Help!

Dp usually gets something along the lines of:
mini bottles of red
beers (Duchy pale ale from Waitrose went down well last year)
bookmark
pens
socks
pickled onions, mustard, chutney
pork scratchings (yuck)
shower gel
cheap CD or DVD

ItsOfficiallyNippySoSayMyNips · 08/11/2015 19:26

DP would like all of the things you've suggested, thanks.

Think I'll also out in a traditional satsuma [santa]

How about

Keyring
Torch
Back scratcher (extendable one from M&S was a hit with DH for £5)
Chocolate/favourite snack
Bottle opener
Handkerchiefs
Coffee shop gift card
Mug

ClaraLane · 08/11/2015 19:35

So far I've got DP a personalised photo mug, Marvel underpants, Lego shaped soap and a nice scarf. Our budget is £40 and I wanted to get him proper presents as stockings are all we're doing for each other this year. I think I'm going to get him some more beard oil because he liked the one I got him last year as well as a tube of Smarties, possibly a DVD or a little Lego/Nanoblocks set.

Last year I got him beard oil, a photo phone case, personalised flannel, Smarties, Christmas boxers, fluffy socks from Joules, tshirt folder and a few other things.

SouthWestmom · 08/11/2015 19:37

Chocolate orange
Mini set of Yankee candles
Book - humour
Posh soap
Posh socks
Red wine

Bimblywibble · 08/11/2015 19:41

Small family game eg dobble, uno
Terry's chocolate orange
Socks
Cufflinks, box for cufflinks
Coaster for mug at work
Choc covered coffee beans
Honey roast peanuts
Something that mirrors 'boring' stuff in DCs' stockings, such as toothbrush
Penknife

Place marking - excellent ideas here. Thanking

Chrisinthemorning · 08/11/2015 19:47

I got DH a star wars storm trooper notebook in Morrisons today. He's a big fan of lists.

LikeSilver · 08/11/2015 19:48

So far DH has:

Duff McKagan's autobiography
Giant marshmallows
Christmas scratch card
Shower gel
Chewbacca slippers

Paperblank · 08/11/2015 21:30

I tend to save my Boots points for DH's stocking, and then in the Boots January sale I get him a few of their gift items.

I generally get him:
Ferrero Rocher
Christmas socks
Superhero Pants
Bubble Bath
Shower Gel
Original Shaving Company toiletries.
A silly pen

I don't actually spend a great deal but I do hunt out things in B&M, Poundland, etc which are daft but I know will make him smile.

Enkopkaffetak · 08/11/2015 22:06

I have got him a tin of Jacobs crackers (as he loves them) from waitrose..
a tin of almond biscuits in a coffee machine tin (as he loves coffee) - currently £5 in Waitrose (until Tuesday)
a bottle of port with truffles (also Waitrose)
a small slim pen as he loves stuff like that (ahem Waitrose)
1 Molton brown Christmas bauble (from the link supplied here)
1 more thing its a silly game but I cant remember what it is and cant check right now..(err waitrose)
will get 2 small bottles of wine too
and likely some socks just to make it a bit silly

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 08/11/2015 22:14

Clara please can you tell me about beard oil?

CheerfulYank · 08/11/2015 22:24

Following!

Ooh I have a friend that owns a beard oil company :)

ClaraLane · 08/11/2015 22:43

EElisaveta it's supposed to help soften the hairs and moisturise them and keep them in good condition. I think some oils also help shape and style the beard. All I know is that since DP ran out of his he's been scratching at his face more because he says his beard is itchy. I think this is the one I bought him last year which he liked: www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/151337663379 He also has a beard brush to shape and style it and make it fluffy.

CheerfulYank What company does your friend own? Smile

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 08/11/2015 23:13

Wow I have never heard of beard oil! Sandalwood sounds nice. Does it make him less scratchySmile?

Crazypetlady · 08/11/2015 23:41

Oh some great ideas.

I am getting dp some post shave balm a naturalish one that I got in a set from asda a couple of years ago.I couldn't find it last year so I am on the hunt this year for his stocking he loved it.

ItsOfficiallyNippySoSayMyNips · 09/11/2015 08:23

I love the idea of a small game, maybe bananagrams.

I also saw a small grow your own ginger beer kit on notonthehighstreet.com that I might get him too.

Good ideas here!

Paperblank - Ferrero Rocher in the Boots January sale for the following Christmas? I was thinking bleeerugh but then remembered that every year pil gave me a box of Ferrero Rocher skating perilously near to the sell-by-date...

RhodaBull · 09/11/2015 11:48

The Sock Shop online have some excellent socks you can buy as a single item (ie not packs of 5) and I have got dh, ds and other family members socks from there. In fact dh liked his so much he had to have Christmas in July and get some more.

Chrisinthemorning · 09/11/2015 13:14

I can recommend some slippers if you're interested Wink

RhodaBull · 09/11/2015 13:34

Dh, is that you? Grin

snowgirl1 · 09/11/2015 14:03

So far, for DH's stocking I've got:

overshoes for his cycling shoes;
couple of books on cycling;
couple of bags of beef jerky.

I'm probably also going to get:
miniature spirit (as in alcohol, not a small ghost)
chocolate
Krispy Kreme gift voucher
wallet ninja
scratch card

zipzap · 09/11/2015 15:26

You might want to swap the satsuma for a chocolate orange if he is the sort of person than might forget to eat it... and you're the one that discovers a mouldy squishy mess a few weeks later

duckbilled · 09/11/2015 15:53

I am popping one of these in dh's stocking www.firebox.com/product/7211/Star-Wars-Millennium-Falcon-Multi-Tool?aff=1108&gclid=CIXUn6XZg8kCFacewwodir8CCA

Sorry about the giant link!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/11/2015 19:54

I'd quite like a small ghost in my stocking, providing it was well behaved and didn't expect to share any of my Sea Salt Lindt.
