I've finally convinced DP that we should start doing stockings for each other, whoop!

We've agreed nothing in the stocking should be over the £10 mark but ideally not too much over £5.

Now realised I'm a bit stuck for ideas.
So far I'm thinking

  • small bottle of wine
  • picture of him, me and DD
  • Christmas boxers

And now I'm out of ideas. Help!

I love the ideas here, DH was 30 this year and I gave him 30 presents so I'm in need of some fresh ideas! I'll have to look up beard oil.

I got DH a screw driver set last year that's been very handy. He also got a grow your own chilli set, and some lighters (he smokes). A set of uno if a great idea, I might try and find a marvel top trumps too.

CFSsucks · 09/11/2015 23:09

Thanks for that millennium falcon tool link! Brilliant idea for DH.

MissBelleTragic · 09/11/2015 23:39

I got a 16gb guitar shaped USB. (He's a musician and always looking for USBs) I originally saw advertised a 2gb in Wilkos for £5 but couldn't find it in any of their stores so looked on Amazon and found the 16gb for £2.88 including delivery! Bargain! Also getting the boring shirt/boxers/socks. M&S also have some funny books for a fiver.

Bought him a beard shampoo, oil and wax set last year £40... All still unopened!!

flatmouse · 10/11/2015 13:24

Love USB idea - kids are always looking for flash drive - will get them both a couple of 8Gb ones for their stockings.

last year Staples had some useful bloke stuff - lots of Rolson tools that were cheap but handy. Things like pen sized screwdrivers with a few interchangeable ends and an integrated torch that shone at whatever you were screwing.

They also had (which I didn't get but meant to go back for so I hope they have them this year) - Rolson again - little squeegee things for wiping the inside of a window in the car. They were about the size of two credit cards, had a bit of absorbent stuff behind the blade so water didn't drip everywhere and would have been really handy in the morning when the car had lots of condensation on the windscreen.

Duckbilled - loving the Star Wars multi tool!

LilyMyOneAndOnly · 10/11/2015 22:43

Some good ideas here! I'm thinking of getting DH this to go in hiswww.amazon.co.uk/Kikkerland-1200-Mechanical-Music-Box/dp/B000HAUEFY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447195292&sr=8-1&keywords=diy+music+box

Wagglebees · 11/11/2015 03:39

Bacon jam was a hit last year. www.eat17baconjam.co.uk
I got the idea from a thread like this one.

I just ordered a box of drinking fudge www.fudgekitchen.co.uk/drinking-fudge/ and will be getting marshmallows to go with it.

Want2bSupermum · 11/11/2015 03:49

I need ideas. DH is awful for buying lots of things himself. No idea what to get.

ChristmasZombie · 11/11/2015 07:30

DH has a miniature toolkit (screwdrivers and Allen keys in a little toolbox), chocolate Santa, some Lego Star Wars minifigures, and I'll put in some lottery scratchcards.

onehellofafright · 11/11/2015 12:40

This year DH is getting:
Chocolate coins
CD
Gloves
Steak thermometer
Restaurant voucher
Pick n mix
Scratch card
Lottery ticket
Mini brandy
Hip flask
Shave mud (espa)
Wild boar and cognac pate
Chocolate orange chilli jam
Mini aftershave
Matchbox puzzle

Mu uber fussy dh is going to LOVE me this yr, he's a huge football bore/fan but also a design freak so hates anything obvious or tacky - these guys on Amazon do these football prints rolled up www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=bl_dp_s_web_0?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=GroundDesigns&index=kitchen-uk&search-type=ss - so it's one of them and 2 bottles of craft beer and a pair of Paul Smith socks and I don't even mind the thought of it up on the wall ( bonus!)

Let's swap stocking ideas for DP's/DH's.

Fancy jam and fancy pate are fab ideas.

I think my DP's stocking might be very heavily food based.

I bought a Rolson multi tool, keyring sized torch and a Christmas scratch card today thanks to this thread. Smile Added them to the little pile I have building up.

Wagglebees · 12/11/2015 19:51

The drinking fudge arrived today and I've realised it was ridiculously priced for what it is. The postage was daft too. I'm sure he'll love it but there are lots of good hot chocolates you can get for a third of the cost.

RidingSixWhiteHorses · 15/11/2015 21:16

I usually get DH a slightly silly magazine that he would enjoy nevertheless - so we live in the city but I have got him Horse and Hound and The Field before.

Also got him a lego mini figure before which then ends up in the kids' lego collection.

Also Turkish delight - which he likes and I don't. Same for stinky cheese. May get a v stinky offal based chorizo this time.

Socks.

AuditAngel · 17/11/2015 00:26

I always buy DH a year's supply of nail clippers. He always steals mine, thus way I can always find a pair!

KB2651 · 17/11/2015 00:46

onehellofafright I love the idea of a steak thermometer! Might have to borrow that one Wink

Mines getting
Socks
Pens
Fancy coffee + chocolate, although I quite like the idea of the chocolate orange this year!
Possibly a scarf
Roller ball for stretching

I'm also place marking for further ideas. Bit stuck on big pressie at the moment too, which isn't particularly helpful

Wagglebees · 19/11/2015 03:45

Anymore? Finding this thread really useful. Smile

Zorion · 19/11/2015 08:58

I've got:

trainers that I'm going to wrap separately (this is definitely over a tenner though!)

jaeger shirts - £7,50 each in the flash sale
a long sleeve top as he is always cold
Napoleon's Buttons book (he is a scientist and likes history so win win)
Learn Basque book

Also going to buy a chocolate orange and some of that really concentrated squash that you squirt into water to make a squash drink (he loves squash!), probably a posh xmassy beer... will dash round a supermarket nearer the time!

If I have time will crochet some fingerless gloves but not looking likely....

His main present will be a mobile phone which we'll buy after xmas in the sale so the trainers are to make up for not having a big thing on xmas day.

Zorion · 19/11/2015 08:59

oh and new scientist magazine! and maybe private eye. For the plane home (we don't live in the uk but spend xmas there)

janaus · 19/11/2015 11:19

Love those wooden puzzles, or metal ring puzzles

I get a lottery ticket and a betting slip on the rank outsider for the big Boxing Day meet - a fiver each way in whatever horse is 100/1.
