Mine says he wants nothing as he "has too much stuff" and "will only end up breaking or losing it" if I buy him something nice (we have had words about this in the past!).

But obviously I can't get him nothing for Christmas - in fact I've just had a promotion and would like to treat him. But he is right, he does tend to lose and break things and I don't want a gift to lead to upset. Perhaps I need to look for for an experience or a consumable than a thing to keep.

Tell me your good ideas please and let me steal your inspiration!

This has all come to me quite recently, I usually know for months in advance what he's getting but this year I really struggled. I got him a beer brewing kit once which went down very well.

Ahhh, I sent DH on a bread making course a few years ago actually. That was a big hit. I recommend it.

Yes, tickets to something might be good. Although we find it hard to get a babysitter so can be a bit tricky.

Cineworld gift box - £20 for 2 cinema tickets, 2 drinks, 1 popcorn and 2 chocolate things. Kinda a gift for me too lol unless he takes someone else!

Iv looked at go ape vouchers for a treetop adventure £31 but I don't really want to do that and I'm unsure if he would go himself so that's a maybe.

Iv also got him some new jeans and a top, chilli chocolates from Lakeland.

Last year I got him Q magazine subscription which he never bothered reading lol he prefers to read online things. But thought it was a good gift if your hubby likes magazines. I get a film one every year and I love it. It's around £30-40 a year depending on magazine.

He doesn't drink much so beer is a no-go, and I don't think he would read a magazine, sadly. Perhaps I need to organise a day out or trip somewhere...

The DCs are getting DH some wellies so they can stomp around in puddles together. I've got him some Marvel CU films. Can't decide what else. Maybe a helmet camera for his bike.

Day out or experience sound like good ideas for your DH.

My DH kicked up a huge fuss the year I bought him something expensive, which meant we had words one Christmas day.

Ever since I've lowered my budget because I have bought him stuff I thought was a good idea, only for it not to be used or for him to complain about it not being right somehow.

Usually I get him

something to eat - biscuits or chocs in a nice tin as he uses tins in the garage
something to drink (now he's settled on a favourite cider)
something to wear - this year a VW beetle t shirt and
something to play with - this year a quadcopter drone and spares kit. Not a huge one though as they come in all sorts of sizes.

So far I have bought dp some pants and that is all

I always always struggle with my DP. He hates money being wasted on him and considers prettying every gift a waste, no matter how much he likes it!

So this year I've suggested that for each other we set a £10 limit and presents can only be bought in charity shops. Just the suggestion has made him happier than any present I've ever got for him. And I'm not bothered about expensive gifts, I just like having something to open.

I shall channel all my gift buying needs into every one else this year

SnozzberryPie I'm not too sure myself lol I think you put your phone in the box and you can put the box on like a helmet. You download an app on your phone which plays roller coasters and things. So when you put helmet on and press play all you will be able to see is the first person view of say a roller coaster ride and it feels like you are on it. So kinda like a simulator ride?
I think there are other things you can download to use with it.

Same here for my dh ItsOfficial - I have set a limit of £20 on gifts for us. I don't need anything and neither does he.

Everyone else is getting spoilt though.

My DH and I agreed that we we're not going to exchange presents - our 1st DC is due in Feb so we're just going to give each other a stocking.

Leaning more towards experiences here but maybe arrange to a photographer to take some fab photos of you all (trampling through the woods in your wellies, climbing trees, having a water fight - absolutely not in a studio where you feel exposed!) Or could you perhaps replicate something from the early days of your relationship - mix tape of your favourite songs when you got together?

How old are your DC? If they're little get their finger prints etched on to silver cufflinks. If they're older a hot air balloon ride and they can go together?

Dp loved a bike maintenance course last year, and has been using his new skills since.

Absolutely no idea. I was looking at the ZX Spectrum emulator because he loved his Speccy in the 80s but the reviews make it sound a bit shit.

We (ds1 and I) are making him some personalised monogrammed towels for when he does his sports/fitness thing. We're obviously not making the actual towels, just the appliqués !

There are different apps and they are all free from what I can see. - Google cardboard, visitvr, vr race are a few Iv seen.

Setting budgets is a great idea for helping with spending and encouraging you to get creative! DH and I did it one year and it was good fun. He was savvy with the sales and I did really well out of it, he even spent the remaining £1 odd on my fave pick n mix :-)
I am employed for the first time in our decade together -eternal student- so would like to spend a little more but not sure where to start!
So far I've got a couple of tops from Next, a bottle of aftershave and a magazine subscription. I'm thinking about stocking fillers- nice boxers, car air freshener refill (fancy one) and sweet stuff. I'll also prob at get him a bottle of port, a Superdry top and something cooking related!

I'm going to get DH some nice wintery trainers...he'll have to choose and try them on though (left to his own devices all his shoes are the cheapest he can find in sports direct)

I'll get him some nice/comedy socks so he has something that's a surprise.
