Mine says he wants nothing as he "has too much stuff" and "will only end up breaking or losing it" if I buy him something nice (we have had words about this in the past!).

But obviously I can't get him nothing for Christmas - in fact I've just had a promotion and would like to treat him. But he is right, he does tend to lose and break things and I don't want a gift to lead to upset. Perhaps I need to look for for an experience or a consumable than a thing to keep. Confused

Tell me your good ideas please and let me steal your inspiration!

I think I'm going to get him a new coat. His is looking tatty and he rarely buys himself new clothes. I've got him a jumper and will get him some books, plus a stocking. And maybe theatre or cinema vouchers.

Last year we did each other an advent calendar. £20 budget with a £10 present on Christmas Day so £30 in total. Wrapped up and put into Christmas sacks. Great fun and he did really well - I got books, makeup, bath bombs along with cheaper things like post it notes, chocolate bar etc.
He got (free) aftershave samples, shaving gel, crossword book, socks etc. Solved the neither of us really need anything problem and was good fun.
This year I have got tickets and a book for him.
National trust membership is great if you want to go places as a family
Theatre break is great too but harder if you need a baby sitter

My DH is a sod for getting himself whatever he wants when he fancies it which leaves me with limited options so he's getting a stocking with sweets/choc, cigars, smellies, posh tea & coffee (he's already stocked up on booze), Harry Potter trivial pursuit cards, and a card guard for poker.

He collects Snoopy/Peanuts memorabilia so am booking tickets to see film and have a meal out on Christmas eve & will take DD (11) to Build a Bear to get him a Snoopy with a voice message in it from her.

New ski kit.

His birthday is in the new year and I think I'll finally send him on a carving course at Simpsons for that (he'll spend all morning learning carving techniques and then a group of us can join him for lunch).

Great ideas here thanks.
Dh likes to cook, particularly meat, so I got him one of these super fancy thermometers last year
SuperFast Thermapen - professional food thermometer in grey www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002657DW0/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_Zz7pwbWV1JXHA
It's the same that they use on Masterchef etc. He loved it. And we have had perfectly cooked roast dinners, steak and bbq all year!

Im thinking of getting him one of those smart watches tyoe things that tell you your heartbeat and things ( I have no iidea so he will have to choose )

Then , we are going on holiday in January to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary ( 18months late , but hey ho )
So I'm going to book us onto a sea fishing day trip

( sunshine , blue sky ... Sighs )

Can't wait

For my DH birthday I gave him a box with 12 envelopes, one to open each month for the next year. They're a mixture of things for him to do (brewery tour, football tickets), coupley date days (Xmas markets, afternoon tea) and family things (chips for tea on the beach, day at the zoo).

He's loving it so far!

Dh is getting a pressure washer, t shirts and his favourite chocolate and alcohol. He buys most things he wants himself.
