I love John Lennon - Merry Christmas (War is over)

Put it on earlier today, for the first time this year. I was dancing around the kitchen with ds and was feeling quite emotional all of a sudden, because the last year has been such a rollercoaster of emotions, and there was my baby in my arms and I love him so much... and this time last year I had no idea what was to come...
but I feel so lucky that after everything things have turned out so well.

Sorry, bit of a tangent there, but that song did that to me somehow today!

When Santa got stuck up the chimney
As dd learned it at nursery in one go and sung it while on the loo to me, she has some speech issues and it made me cry with happiness
Trite but true
mummy what's a Santa and what's a chimney..

NewLP · 05/12/2006 20:57

ANY of the phil spector Christmas songs !!

LauraGas · 07/12/2006 19:10

Definately "Fairy Tale of New York. DH and I attempted (whilst incredibly drunk) to sing it once at a karaoke and completely murdered it. Another favourite is "When a Child is Born" - sad I know!

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 07/12/2006 19:12

Of the Father's Love Begotten. I have a weird obsession with the tune, I think it is so beautiful

Agree with various others...

The Pogues (well obviously, doesn't everyone?!)
Phil Spector songs
When a Child is Born
Mary's Boy Child
Bing Crosby
Nat King Cole

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 20:49

Fairy Tale of New York although after a cheeky glass of wine I get a bit tearful at the bit about their dreams... Have just had glass of wine so therefore can't remember the line properly

Lio · 07/12/2006 20:53

Another Fairy Tale of NY here. Am listening to that Kate Bush track as well that Leisel posted (great seasonal name, btw )

MoreEggnogAnyone · 07/12/2006 20:55

Yeh I also love Fairy Tale of New York.

I also love Carol of the Bells and the Drifters version of White Christmas.

Piccalilli · 07/12/2006 20:56

let it snow...such a happy song, I defy anyone to sing that and not feel joyful

MammyMto3kids · 07/12/2006 20:57

I know I should be older for this... but I really love God rest ye merry gentlemen! I am sad if I don't hear the Sally army playing it while we're shopping! Also I love fairy tale of NY, it makes me cry though because of Kirsty McColl singing, 'let's hope it's our last' especially the first year after she died Xmas Sad!
