I love John Lennon - Merry Christmas (War is over)

Put it on earlier today, for the first time this year. I was dancing around the kitchen with ds and was feeling quite emotional all of a sudden, because the last year has been such a rollercoaster of emotions, and there was my baby in my arms and I love him so much... and this time last year I had no idea what was to come...
but I feel so lucky that after everything things have turned out so well.

Sorry, bit of a tangent there, but that song did that to me somehow today!

What's that one that goes 'tra la la la la la, la la la la, la, la la la, la, la la laaa..."?

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:05

Deck the Halls???

DingdongMegaLegsonhigh · 07/12/2006 21:05

this one

DingdongMegaLegsonhigh · 07/12/2006 21:06

My link was Greg Lake not Deck the Halls my broadband is playing up so am slow.

Lio · 07/12/2006 21:07

No no MonkeyTrousers, that's the Cagney and Lacey theme tune.

Also like 'All I want for Christmas is yoooooou'.

Monkeytrousers · 07/12/2006 21:11

PMSL Lio!

No Dingdong. I think it's on a tv ad at the mo. Just the beginning of it. I think it might be Prokofiev

MammyMto3kids · 07/12/2006 21:11

not strictly a 'Christmas song' but love Mad world too!

Lio · 07/12/2006 21:15

MT, if it goes (with * = downbeat, in 4/4 time):
Dee da-de-da-de daa daa daa daa daa
Daa de-de-de daa da-de daaaaaaa
Da-de daa daa daa daa dum-di-da-da-da
Da-de daa da-de daa daa daaaaaaa

Then that's from Prokofiev's Leiutenant Kije and has sleigh bells going underneath.

Monkeytrousers · 07/12/2006 21:17

Oh, clever as well as funny!

Score!

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:17

music teacher by any chance, Lio?

Monkeytrousers · 07/12/2006 21:18

oh oh, permission to cut and paste you sir?? Spot on!

Lio · 07/12/2006 21:22

Am a graduate of the University of Californifrau , back in the Hausfrau days.

BudaBauble · 07/12/2006 21:24

Another vote for Fairytale of New York here.

Also love Chris De Burgh "I'm coming home" at this time of year - it's on the same album as Spaceman and the first year I was living in London with my sister and 2 flatmates we played it constantly in the run up to Xmas as we were all homesick for Dublin.

Also like "Rocking around the Xmas Tree" by Lim Wilde and Mel Smith for some reason!

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:25

aha

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:26

Budabauble, did you see the article about Chris de Burgh's amazing healing powers in Closer magazine the other week???

BudaBauble · 07/12/2006 21:28

No - can't get Closer mag here in Budapest! Am sure my sis has it though - will get her to hang on to it for me.

Mind you - I don't like him much!

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:29

you'll like him even less when you see the weird article!!

BudaBauble · 07/12/2006 21:34

LOL

BudaBauble · 07/12/2006 21:34

Short-man syndrome I reckon!

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:54

but he does have a good head of hair ( to be said in my mum's special patronising voice!)

pandrop · 08/12/2006 07:04

I like loads of Christmas songs but my all time favourite is o holy night sung by my aunty in the church. It is one of my earliest memories and it's just not Christmas without it. Am looking forward to this year nativity as my son is playing the starring role(well I think it is)as a sheep complete with wooly outfit;talking of no1 son I need to go, I can hear him getting up, well it is 7.00am. hope you all have a lovely peaceful Christmas love pandrop &her little sheepy baa x x x

Monkeytrousers · 08/12/2006 12:57

And what's that other one - not a real xmas one but one that was no 1 at xmas yonks ago - like in the 70s. It was a duet;

her - Did you see Lisa?
him - Yes I saw Lisa.
him - Is that why you're angry?
her - I wasn't angry.
him - Maybe a little.
her - Not even maybe.
her - Must be the weather.
him - Now don't be a baby!

southeastastra · 08/12/2006 13:03
