isn't that a bit young for her? It looks like something a 5 year old would play with. I've asked her if it isn't a bit babyish and she tells me that EVERYONE likes sylvanians at school "even people in year 6"

Anyone here an expert? Waddya think?!

Snigger at the jumping position

I think the family plus babies would be lovely, although dd is never keen on the babies with their eyes closed (she's very picky). The furniture is quite expensive but it comes with loads of tiny bits and pieces. It's pretty much on a scale with standard dolls' house stuff though, so you can always eke it out with that.

zippitippitoes · 03/12/2006 17:53

I like the keats family..sure they must have Romantic literary pedigree and the Van Dyke family (cigar Van Dykes? or the US comedian Van Dykes?)

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 17:53

my god the furniture is expensive. forget £45 for the house, it is going to cost hundreds to furnish it and people it with small animals in tiered petticoats!

ok, babies with eyes open. bit learning experience this.

I think she can live without the ponies, they are v unrealistic looking and dd has julip stuff to do pretend showjumping competitions with...

Is BabyDragon too young for these?

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 17:59

Dad Squirrel is called Douglas Furbanks btw

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/12/2006 17:59

Sigh. Better than pooing out Floam though.

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 18:00

uh scary I mean

mind you if I spend £487.50 on this crap it can be played with by dd2 in a few years can';t it pph brightens up

Oh yes, Julip would be loads better. The ponies aren't as cute as the families, I don't think. It's going to cost hundreds furnishing it all from scratch, eh

PrincessPeaHead · 03/12/2006 18:01

dd1 pooed out a small geomag ball bearing the other day

"I heard it go "clang" in the loo mummy, but I didn't look because it was the middle of the night and dark"

My friend's dd in Year 4 loves hers.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/12/2006 18:01

There doesn't appear to be a Rat family [disappointed]

cazzybabs · 03/12/2006 18:04

bloody hell the furnture is expensive though - dd got some from ebay and TBH I think it is just plastic tat...but then just think of her little face on Christmas day.....

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 03/12/2006 18:04

Just learn to love car boot sales, pph- I got houses for 50p

tamum · 03/12/2006 18:04

I think with dd2 and the resale value on eBay you wouldn't do too badly, PPH

Soupy, could you improvise with the Thistlethorns ?

tegan · 03/12/2006 18:07

I have an 8 yr old dd and I asked her if she would like this (just to see the response) and she replied "how old do you think I am mum?" obviously she is way too old for this.
She is having a Nintendo DS lite and thats only because she wants money to go towards her having a nice car when she is 17.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/12/2006 18:09

The Mace family are mice too - two mice families and no rats? That's discrimination!

An 8 yo who is saving for a car??!

tamum · 03/12/2006 18:11

Yeah, why are the Maces and the Thistlethorns both mice when they look completely different? Eh? The Thistlethorns must be rats under witness protection or something. I am glad dd and her friends still like toys, personally.

AllieAndTheIvy · 03/12/2006 18:11

i saw it in tk maxx today for £19.99. I got the primrose nursery for th same price

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 03/12/2006 18:13

DS is nearly 8 and he's put an XBox on his Father Christmas list He's not getting one! I dispise how they take away any necessity for imagination.

zippitippitoes · 03/12/2006 18:17
