Are in! Having never bought Christmas stuff there before (I'm a 2015 Lidl convert) I'm hoping your recommendations are right. Have purchased the panettone, spiced gingerbread and spiced biscuits to start me off

Mini stollen bites are awful. Don't buy them leaving them all for me

The panettone is good too. I usually stockpile up on both of the above as they always disappear from our lidl by the second week of December.

JeffsanArsehole · 29/09/2015 07:24

Lidl and Aldi food is why I get fat between now and Christmas

Stollen is so bloody delicious

Boobyroof · 29/09/2015 07:29

I'm a new covert his year too, am getting fat already :( I keep eating everything with their different story cheeses. Yum. Have found mainly hits, a couple of misses, but haven't tried their Christmas things yet, so I await more replies :)))

Savagebeauty · 29/09/2015 07:34

I've always been very disappointed with panettone ( not Lidls just generally)
I find it dry...do you have it with custard as a pudding???

GlowWine · 29/09/2015 07:38

There will be a wider range coming into the shops nearer the time. Gingerbread rounds, the larger ones covered in dark chocolate are great.

FiveandTwentyPast · 29/09/2015 07:41

The Christmas pudding fudge is v v good, it's hard not to eat the whole packet in a single sitting, the mini stollen is legendary and their own brand Baileys I like better than the real thing.

GlowWine · 29/09/2015 07:45

Panettone is really a type of bread. Have it at breakfast time with butter, use in rich bread and butter pudding or for dessert have with whipped cream or similar so I guess rich custard could work - think Zabaglione if you want to keep Italian.

Savagebeauty · 29/09/2015 07:46

Ginger rounds sound my sort of thing.

Allgunsblazing · 29/09/2015 07:48

They are very very nice indeed! I bought the stollen already (with a hot cup of tea when it is cold-bliss). The marzipan is very nice too. Chocolates. Pannettone is good. The jam filled ginger bread hearts covered in dark chocolate. All very nice.

Cherrypi · 29/09/2015 07:48

Christmas fudge definitely and stock up because it disappears fast.

TheGreenNinja · 29/09/2015 07:49

Oh god, the spiced gingerbread biscuits (lebkuchen) are my downfall. I saw them last week and had to grip the trolley hard so several packets didn't make their way in. No one else in the house likes them so any I buy, I eat.
I bloody love panettone too, I isually have it sliced with butter, or toasted with butter.

Mehitabel6 · 29/09/2015 07:53

Gingerbread biscuits and stollen are great.

Littlemousewithcloggson · 29/09/2015 08:35

I have already bought a couple of dozen packets of mini stollen. Have had to put them over MIL house in her spare room otherwise they don't make it past the end of the day. They are fantastic.
Can also recommend lidls fresh pigs in blankets, stuffing and ready to roast potatoes (fresh) Had them for New Years days and to be honest were nicer than the ones we had on Christmas Day

PennyHasNoSurname · 29/09/2015 08:45

Lebkuchen.

We are a-bag-a-week family here once those puppies come into stock!

ihatethecold · 29/09/2015 08:49

The panatonne at Costo in a gold tin is Amazing!!!

Imnotweirdimlimitededition1 · 29/09/2015 08:52

I also love the mini stollen, the caramelised almonds , the chocolate covered raspberries & strawberries and they had a coconut spread in the deluxe range which was delicious- a bit like that biscuit spread that I had to stop buying as I was eating it like a yoghurt. Ham & mustard crisps too

NoahVale · 29/09/2015 08:53

those ginger biscuits, are they lebkuchen.
yummmmm

SleepyForest · 29/09/2015 08:55

I have already eaten a packet of mini stollen and a bag of liebkuchen. Very tasty.

BrandNewAndImproved · 29/09/2015 08:57

I don't like stollen or lebkuchen, odd since my grandma is German!

I like their Christmas coconut ice, Turkish delights, wide range of Crackers and nibbles they bring out. Their decorations and middle random bits are really good over Christmas.

Lidls versions of baileys, malibu and dissarano are lush.

vdbfamily · 29/09/2015 09:08

they sell very good value chocolate tree baubles which often sell out by December

DrSausagedog · 29/09/2015 09:13

Have they got the advent calendars in yet? I prefer the traditional designs on them to the more commercial character ones in other shops.

NeverNic · 30/09/2015 12:15

Didn't see the calendars but mine is a small store. The biscuits weren't called lebkuchen. The spiced biscuits were flat and imprinted with a design. The gingerbread did look like round mounds similar to lebkuchen but we're covered in white chocolate.

We like the Pandoro instead of the panettone and buy an extra one for Easter too.
The mini stollen bites are my major downfall!
Last year we tried lots of the Xmas range and didn't find anything we didn't like.

NeverNic · 30/09/2015 14:11

That's in too fieldfare. I decided to buy that in my next shop!

Those spiced biscuits are delicious. The Fudge from their "Finest" (I know it's not called that but you know what I mean) range is amazing too.
