What are everyone's colours / themes for decorations this year?

Please inspire me!

Mine is the same every year now as I've been building up my collection for about six years! It's lime green and red, a bit of a Dr Seuss theme. The first two years I got all the basics, now I'm padding it out with special individual decorations to make it more personal. I love it but it's a bit ott!

Mine is the same as last year - no plastic (apart from the artificial tree!) in white, red, turquoise. Lots of wooden and metal decorations. I loved it. This year I also want to decorate the stairs!

We have a candy cane theme. A few years ago we bought red and green baubles (I want to say lime green, but it is brighter than that) and loads of candy cane and sweetie style decorations. Every year we buy a couple more decorations to add to the tree; usually one with the date on. I'll be honest, we go crazy. Garlands ever where, two trees - one real, one slim plastic. It looks like the north pole threw up over our home. I love it.

Last year was a very Scottish theme, we had guests staying, so had tartan tablecloth, stag cushions, a huge 7 foot real Nordman fir christmas tree, pine cones on the table, celtic decorations, logs piled up by the fire, even tartan crackers, it felt like a highland cabin.
It was very cosy and homely.

Not sure this year- I won't be buying a huge new theme, but using bits from last year, probably similar, but not so heavy on the tartan.
Maybe spice up the celtic element though- certainly no jesus in our home!

I have tonnes of decorations and tweak them slightly each year. Bought some lovley copper baubles last year and did the living room tree in white, silver gold and copper. DS moaned thst there was no red. So I had to add red. Think I will stick to traditional red, white, gold and green on that tree this year.

I do traditional in the living room, red, green and gold baubles and wooden toy decorations, strings of beads and baubles over the fireplace too.

In the dining room / kitchen I have a tree with gingerbread men, candy canes, cookie cutters, wooden spoons and gingham bows... And garland across the chimney breast in there of gingerbread men on gingham string.

I change the playroom every year according to what toys my DD's are playing with... When DD1 was born I decorated the tree with all the bunny snugglies and loads of pink decorations, the year after I put Lamaze toys on it, the year after I put all the toy story characters on it / in it / poking out of it, and last year I did Disney princesses.

I think this year I might do cars, trucks, planes etc.

I love choosing different themes each year.

In the past I have done a Nordic theme with wooden and glass ornaments with loads of greenery and silver.

Some of my decorations are family ones dating from before the war. I love thinking about the generations of my family who have hung the decorations on their tree over the years.

I would love to have a colour theme but every year is multicoloured with new decorations added as we go. We are completely tasteless but every decoration means something. Last year DDS boyfriend gave us a tree decoration which is a Christmas pudding with a moustache - it will be added to the haul. Tacky, but fun.

I bought some gorgeous traditional London themed baubles from liberty's last year. Can't wait to put them on the tree.

Living room will be much the same as last years maybe a few wee changes. Pink, grey, white and silver - lots of blown glass and frosted glass decorations, sequin and glitter, a rose garland that wraps round the tree. I have a glitter deer which is so beautiful which goes in the front window and I switch out our regular cushions and throws for faux fur. It's very winter wonderland and just the right side of OTT!

Family room I do in brights - clashing colours and use lots of felt decorations quite cute and kitsch. I also have some felt garlands which go up in there too and it's adjoining with the kitchen so I usually dress the table to tie in.

Main hallway is very traditional gold and red mainly, with a pine and holly stair garland and mistletoe above all the doors! I tie our front door wreath in with this too.

I put a small artificial tree up in DS room which he gets to decorate with help, he has lots of decorations with his name and little animals.

We have traditional theme so Gold, Green and Red. Been for the past 2 years now building up the bauble collection :-)
Cant wait for us to post pics of our trees I love seeing everyones house so Christmassy

I love traditional, real trees, red green gold etc. I have cinnamon around the house, candles, mulled wine, plenty Port and Stilton

Living room is same each year 8ft real tree with a mish mash of decorations. Garland on mantle piece with very very old fragile fairy lights on.(1951).

However the sun room gets full makeover every year. This year I am painting the wall bright yellow and hanging red Chinese lanterns from the ceiling . I have red and gold crackers and am getting Chinese folding fans as place markers.
I might draw the line at making the family eat with chop sticks !

Same as every year, we only buy one or two new bits and bobs. Tree in living room is a riot of colours (the only rule is no tinsel on it) with multicoloured lights. I don't like white lights or colour themed trees, they look good in shops but we prefer a cosy, homely tree that looks as though the DCs have been given free reign over (which they are). Tend to stick to red and gold in the rest of the house and some blue and silver in the kitchen (our crockery etc is blue).

I have a real mix of decorations. They are all either gifts or most have been picked up on holiday over the years.

We have a different colour scheme every year - I freely admit that this is entirely so that I can buy a bunch of decs every year. This year we're going vaguely Nordic - red, white and silver. We also have a bunch of every year tree decs, so our tree is very definitely 'more is more'. There is nothing at all sophisticated or tasteful about our Christmas and I wouldn't have it any other way.

We got my childhood decorations down last year for the first time and had some of dhs family ones thrown in so it'll be quite traditional red and gold with some garlands on the porch door, the mirror and some santa/themed ornaments on the shelves. Also will do some blue in ds' room and pink in dds. They have little christmas garlands that I made last year from felt and stuffed so look lovely in their rooms.

The living/dining room will be the same as always: gold and browns, with lotsof cinnamon sticks and homemade pomanders. We've been collecting for well over a decade and have some gorgeous glass baubles. How we display everything changes from year to year and I'm not sure quite what we'll be doing but will have a real tree as usual. Table is red and white for breakfasts (v. cosy) and white, black and greys for dinner.

The downstairs hall has been reds and greens, all v. natural but am repainting it white (possibly grey) this autumn and have got more white decorations for it, so it may be all white.

The dc have an artificial tree upstairs which is mainly red, with multi-coloured lights, so upstairs will probably be the reds/straws etc that will have been displaced from the downstairs hall.

Mostly gold with red and gold on the tree. Soft white lights, fir garlands. I put fewer decs up last year and DH liked it, so will do that again. I always do white snowflake decs and a lit snowflake in the kitchen window as it faces the front, and some sort of decoration on the wall outside by the front door. In the past we've had a wreath, a twiggy star, a hanging basket with Christmas foliage.

It wasn't an intentional scheme but we have lots of natural stuff, so lots of greenery in the house and wooden decorations. We accent it with white and red.

Forgot to add, we don't decorate our bedroom as such but I always put matching lit stars in the windows of the two bedrooms which face the road. I love the soft glow they give the rooms when the main lights are off.

In the kitchen/diner I have purple, black, silver and white, it's different and I love it!

Always red, gold and green (karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon...), very traditional!

Lounge here is white with ice blue curtains, so the DC decided last year we needed a 'frozen' theme... now I wasn't going out to buy an Olaf or anything, but we went with ice blue / white /some silver decorations in the lounge, and I admit - it looked amazing, with the big real tree in the corner...

I'll be sticking with that colour scheme for a while as only moved in last year so want to make the most of it

Same as every year, purple and silver with bits of pink. Matches my living room perfectly and I like having the same decorations out every year. Me and the dc choose one new bouble from a naice garden centre when we put the fake tree up.
