I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:
EmmyLou · 26/11/2006 00:34

lol, just as well i haven't told dp about this yet or he'd eyeing up that dvd player

i'm so excited about all the kids getting such fabulous presents!

soapbox, i know the coat isn't much compared to what others are giving but do you have someone who needs it? just thinking if someone is desperate for a winter coat for their little girl the weather is pretty nippy already, might be best if they get it sooner rather than later.

nannyme · 26/11/2006 00:49

I haven't been reading these threads because as I am a nominee living in France I haven't wanted to get my hopes up at all of receiving anything for our LOs because it would be very expensive to post anything to us. I was just utterly cheered by my surprise nomination.

In spite of this, however, having a sneaky read this evening having just found out we won't be buying anything for xmas at all now, I must say that this is akin to having a naughty feel of the pressies under the tree through the wrapping paper!

Thanks again to all!

x

nannyme, we came to the same realisation last week. we had to spend the money i'd put aside for dd's present on something else so i can't help but hope someone has something small and light they won't mind paying postage to ireland on for dd

nannyme · 26/11/2006 00:57

Hiya pinktinsel, I remember your thread. It's crap isn't it? We are moving because we are in a horrid house with a nightmare landlady and the upstairs is so damp my little boys' duvet is wet. To move is taking all our money. I had to try and find £300 to do the move and last night my mum offered to lend it to me but she really can't afford it. I have to apy her back so any small hope of buying even a little present for each of the children has gone out of the window.

Sorry for CRASH there.

I have something pinktinsel's dd can have - but I'm not telling youuuu pt!!

EmmyLou · 26/11/2006 01:02

Thanks Sopay!

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:05

thank you nannyme. (i'm curious now!) it would be very expensive for you to post over here though, i'd feel awful when your no better off than me at the minute.

i wish i had more to give but my two are too young to have outgrown any of their toys and i offload old baby clothes to charity so regularly i have none left to offer here

like jarm i think i'll be hoarding stuff to give next year

nannyme · 26/11/2006 01:07

Am I right in recalling she is about 20 months?

Can someone please CAT me who pink tinsel's match is please?

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:07

as for damp flats, our old flat had mildew growing on the walls so the landlord had to move us out as it was dangerous for dd to be in there, he 'generously' gave us a more expensive flat instead so i feel your pain, the clothes in our wardrobes used to come out mouldy

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:08

22 months since yesterday

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 26/11/2006 01:09

Wherabouts in Ireland are you pinktinsel? South or North? I'm up North, but postage wouldn't be too high..what age is your dd? Mine is 5

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 26/11/2006 01:10

OOps crossed posts

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:16

i'm in galway firefly. feel guilty asking someone in england to post to me so would be great if soapbox matched me with another irish giver

hard enough swallowing my pride to publicly admit i need help with xmas without expecting someone to go to extra lengths to send to dd.

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:18

Hey pinktinsel your in luck if your not too about knowing me, I'm in Dublin.

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:20

well i don't technically know you until we get around to organising an irish meetup

it's possible soapbox has already thought of this in all her christmassy wisdom of course and we're matched anyway!

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:23

Oh ok oh God sorry if I've embaressed you. I just have it in my head that I'd love to get something for your lo but don't want to push you on it.

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:25

That meet up would be graet craic, what room would we book? The phonebox!

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:27

not embarressed mhamai, touched

thank you, and if you want to sort it with soapbox to get dd as your match i'm sure it would make her life easier too, and it means at some point in the future i might be able to repay you somehow, you'll definitely get a xmas card anyway.

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:28

lol, 3/4 irish women would probably cause as much havoc in a club as the whole london meetup did

QuootiepiesBetterThanMincePies · 26/11/2006 01:29

Mhamai is banned from meet-ups Save yourself Pink!

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:31

Not at all pinktinsel, I've been on skid row in the past and believe me it's no picnic, listen if you want I'll cat you as I have a match and soapy has enough to be going on with without me adding more madness and then dd gets an extra pressie or it could be for you Christmas is for us mums too.

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:32

Quootie
pink you DON'T want to know!

idontlikecrusts · 26/11/2006 01:33

pinktinsel can you pm your addy too?

nannyme

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 01:35

lol quootie.

i don't have cat mhamai, my e-mail is dee_pinktulips AT hotmail DOT com.

not fair dd getting extra though, i'll get soapbox to take me off the recipients list so theres more to go around for others

now, ds is finally asleep so i'm off to bed.... my very lengthy hijack is finally at an end!
