*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

Mhamai · 26/11/2006 01:37

You will in your granny! This pressie is for YOU! Will mail you tomorrow, nite nite.

fussymummy · 26/11/2006 01:48

nannyme, where abouts do you live????

Maybe there are some MN's who live near that could help you with moving!!!!!

How long until you move????

idontlikecrusts · 26/11/2006 03:00

Unfortunately I am moving from western France to more Northern France! We move 1st December. I just asked my mum to pay the removal guy for me until I get my invoices paid.

I am overjoyed she agreed - I hate asking.

If someone could post the children some chocolate money or something (my tradition normally) that would be amazing! But really just pleased to be thought of, honestly!

Paddlechick666 · 26/11/2006 08:23

NannyMe/Idon'tlikecrusts

I am sure Soapy will match you with someone who has something appropriate AND is able to stand the postage.

MN really is a true leveller, there are people here from both ends of the spectrum.

At tho mo, financially we're not in dire straits (yet!) but emotionally/physically things are tough. Xmas will be a subdued affair again this year.

For us to receive something from another Mumsnetter would just lift my spirits and help me not feel so alone.

But anyway, I ramble emotionally!

I've emailed you, I would LOVE to and am CAPABLE of sending a few chocolate pennies for you LOs.

munz · 26/11/2006 08:57

soapy I have another offer after talking to DH about it this AM! (we were after selling the item's but as no one has come forward he's saying to give them to mnetters - so will add them on the bottom of the email, would prob be better to find someone in my area to drop them off to if possible.) they're in a box on my landing and I really am getting depressed by seeing an unpacked box still after being here 3 months! lol.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 26/11/2006 09:03

you are such a cutie munz - well done for talking Dan round!

ScoobyDooooo · 26/11/2006 09:19

Our thinsg are in storgae as we have no home at the moment but i do have an all in one pink next snowsuit i think it is 0-3 or 3-6 months if anyone would like it, i also have 2 spare chocolate selection boxes if i could send these to anyone & maybe a couple of Dvd's.

Let me know if this is any good to anyone Soapy

This thread is amazing. x

DebbsyandBibby · 26/11/2006 09:26

Soapy i would like to contribute please can you give me your email address please?

iota · 26/11/2006 09:30

Debbsy - it's
[email protected]

fridascruffs · 26/11/2006 09:38

I don't like crusts:

I'm also in france & would be happy to send your kids a wee something (French books any good?), would save soapbox a job if I did it direct. If you send me your DC's ages & gender to fridascruffs at hotmail dot com I'll get on to it.
tara

mummyhill · 26/11/2006 09:43

I check in on this thread every morning and am overwhelemed by everyones kindness. The kids think I am mad cause I tend to cry each time I read this thread.

I haven't told Dh about this as I want to suprise all of them iyswim. Will reveal to him the power of mumsnet after the event. I find it works better to tell him things after they have happened as he an be a proud stubborn man.

PinkTinsel · 26/11/2006 09:57

mummyhill, snap. my dp would be to proud to accept anything if i told him in advance but i know it would make his xmas to see the kids happy on xmas morning.

mhamai, the best gift i could get for xmas would be for dd to have something to unwrap, don't even dream of getting me anything or i'll be so cross at you!

again, thank you everyone for your kindness and generosity...... i think poor dp thinks i'm pregnant again i'm doing so much blubbering in front of the pc!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/11/2006 10:28

Bumping back into active convos.

Beelliesebub · 26/11/2006 10:48

Hiya Soapy...
I just thought I'd let ya know that I've got my match, ta. I'll be posting them off this week.

puccaupunderthemistletoe · 26/11/2006 11:11

I have my match, feel a bit mean though as can only send 10 pound voucher

munz · 26/11/2006 11:16

pucca - honestly it's not the amount, nor what's sent I don't think it's the fact that someone can watch their little one opne a present on xmas day and see the look of joy on their faces. I for one will be grateful for anything which is kindly given to my DS, if anything at all

soapy have emailed you with a compelete list of stuff now (instead of the several short ones! lol)- still need to do one for the NB clothes but i'm assuming they'll go to the same person as the jeans?

Posey · 26/11/2006 11:42

Got my match
Just getting kids coats on and off to do a spot of shopping.
OOH the fun!

And as a little aside, doesn't everyone find that buying for someone that they know will really appreciate the gift a whole lot more fullfilling than buying for many other people where your present may well disappear under a toy mountain?!

soapbox · 26/11/2006 12:24

Another big gift up for grabs - can any one on the receivers list make use of a 14inch portable tv and video recorder?

Possibly for a teenagers room?

soapy have just discovered something else i can send but will need it collected. can you email me please xxx

magicmummy · 26/11/2006 13:18

Just thought of something else I can give.

I have a moses basket with stand and a matching bath and bouncy chair (unisex colours) and also a matching cot quilt and bumper set and some blankets.
Would these be any good for a mum-to-be/new mum ?

Can't stop crying at these threads and the generosity of all the mumsnetters.
From myself and everyone else, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who is helping make this Christmas one to remember. I'm overwhelmed.

munz · 26/11/2006 13:18
