*************************Mumsnet Christmas Appeal 2006***********************************

1000 replies

soapbox · 24/11/2006 19:27

I thought I had better start a new thread in case the old one falls over at 1000 posts.

First of all I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have helped make this a huge success Thanks to all of you, life will be a little bit easier for some of our MNetters this year!

Firstly all of the MNetters - without you this would only have been a pipe dream! Givers and receivers - all take a bow

Then the corporates:
GLTC - for going well beyond the call of duty
Hazell -www.verko.co.uk- for her most generous offer of christmas trees - I hope you join in and make some new friends here
Great expectations - a lovely company with wonderful fairtraded toys and again help beyond what was expected.
LCC - to Jaysmummy for her crafty goodies and warm hearted support
www.thesweetiestop.co.uk - for their generous support

And of course it goes almost without saying, MNHQ!

**

How it works:

You email me:

[email protected]

as a giver or receiver. If a receiver I will ask for a bit more information to find a good match for you. If a giver I will find someone for you to send your gift to.

All matches to be done by 30 November (did I really promise that)

All gifts to be posted by 15 December (at the latest).

OP posts:

jollyhollymum, i'm not sure what 'policy' is but i'm going to put a few extra bits in my parcel and i'm including a sheet of wrapping paper so that mum can see what they get and wrap herself.

princessmel · 27/11/2006 08:52

I've got my match!!!
I'm going to send the parcel today. My ds has an inset day from nursery so we can all walk round to the post office and post it together. He's going to make a card too.
I've told him all about the xmas appeal and he thinks its so exciting.

tjacksonpfc · 27/11/2006 08:54

hi i havent been on here for a while as ive only just got connection back but i have had an email and i would like to say a bigh thank you to who ever nominated me but there are people more needy than me. my los will be really happy though thanks you again xx

SisterOfSoapbox · 27/11/2006 08:55

Jollyhollymum, Soapbox has said before that if anyone wants to put in a few extras then that would be a lovely thought (her matching was done on the basis of what the people were offering in their emails to her to make sure the boys didn't end up with pink dresses etc LOL). As to wrapping - the choice is yours. Some people felt it might be better to include the wrapping paper so mum could see the gifts first and make sure they were all suitable. Either way will be fine.

satine · 27/11/2006 09:00

I've got my match, but I don't know who the recipient is, so apologies for not addressing this to the right person!
I'm afraid I won't be able to shop until Dec 1 (rather overspent this month) but please don't think I've forgotten you, I promise I'll get right on to it on Fri morning!!! I can't wait.
I don't know sexes of your children, but I'll go ahead and buy unisex presents/vouchers unless anyone tells me otherwise!

YorkiegirlsSanta · 27/11/2006 09:00

Ok, thinking about this, the gifts I told soapbox about would be more suitable for YG's older girl, so does YG have another Santa for the little girl? I'm perfectly happy to send something for both girls, but if there is another Santa out there, maybe we should coordinate a little?

saltire · 27/11/2006 09:03

I have my match, and have parcelled up a couple of things. Don't know her MN name though!

princessmel · 27/11/2006 09:06

No I don't know the MN name of my match either. But if I did I don't think I'd say who it was anyway just incase they didn't want people to know they were a receiver. Some people nominated themselves didn't they?.

asantaforYG · 27/11/2006 09:21

Hi i am another "santa" for yorkiegirl's girls!

email me on su at bushnell01 dot fsnet dot co dot uk if you want to.
I dont know YG and so dont know what sort of things her girls like. Do you? Some girls are very girlie and some arent! If I knew a little of their favourite things I could select a suitable gift, hopefully. Anyone who would like to contact me and let me know their likes I would be discreet and grateful.
thanks

AmazedAndVERYHappy · 27/11/2006 09:24

I went to bed thinking of my secret santa's generous gift and woke up with a massive smile on my face! I am still amazed and VERY happy! Thank you!

faeriemum · 27/11/2006 09:40

would be unfair to ask for a new tree as we do have a 5ft one that has lost alot of weight over the years....skinny as anything now....but hey its a tree and wouldnt want to take from someone who is without a tree.

Ruby I think most are prefering to leave unwrapped so Mum can see whats best for each child. Maybe put some paper, label and tape in too.
But if you prefer to wrap im sure thats fine too.
