8yo girls? What are you buying?!

I know her main present for her birthday will be a camera and for Christmas a sprite scooter.

But I need ideas on smaller presents. I have a list of books so that's covered but am stuck for other ideas!

Place marking...! They are getting hard to buy for. My DD has unrealistic expectations too for some reason.

We only do one main present.

Then in stockings:
Something to wear
Something to read
Something to play
Something to eat

That's everything. So for you the scooter as main, then book in stocking to read. Then find something for the other three

My 8yo likes sparkly pink shite. Accessorize, paperchase and Claires seem to hit the spot!

I think my daughter would be happy if I bought the whole of Smiggle for her

8 is such a variable age, DD loves toys still, some of her friends only want clothes.

The plan for DD1 (8, nearly 9 by Xmas) is:

• Hudl (aiming to buy with Clubcard points nearer Xmas)

• a ticket to see Mary Poppins musical

• Aquarellum painting kit

• one more thing TBC - waiting to see if there are any new crazes or she develops any new interests.

(She'll also be getting a Lego Friends set from one set of Gparents and a Cra-z Knit kit from the other set of Gparents.)

She'll be delighted with her 'lot' and we like to try and give a range of different types of gift if we can.
DD1 is an 8 yr old who is rapidly losing interest in toys and playing :-(

agree the yu bags are ugly, very expensive and they look so big! They are only allowed small backpacks at school so when would she use it?

Why does an 8 year old need a hudl if you already have an iPad? Wouldn't a basic kindle for reading be better?

My dd is 8. We're buying her a metal detector (she wants to be an archaeologist and is a member of the Young Archaeology Club).

We only buy one present and then some stocking fillers (toothbrush, socks, little pocket money toys, satsuma, flannel etc). I also buy some books over the year (charity shop, book people) and some audio books if I find any bargains. The Roald Dahl ones were available recently on the book people website if she's still young enough for them?

DD would LOVE a kindle. Absolutely love one. If money were no object, I'd buy her a hudl. She'd be over the moon.

Not sure why you'd buy a hudl if you already have an ipad. I have neither.

hudl 2 is £99 but DH reckons they will bring 3 out before xmas and 2 will drop in price.

I've decided against more Lego even though dd1 has shown interest in Lego elves.

She had the Lego Friends school last year, it was made on boxing day and is now mixed up with the other lego never to be made again.

Pointless to add more to that box.

How about a subscription to Nat Geo Kids too? My DS has had this for years and still loves it.
