PinkTinsel · 21/11/2006 13:59

depends on the product, good stuff that was obviously specially picked for me is lovely.

cheap ready made little baskets from body shop are yuck

Tortington · 21/11/2006 13:59

in general i believe tis considered naff

however i like getting toiletries and having loverly bubbly smelly baths

hunkermunker · 21/11/2006 13:59

I don't mind.

It has to be the right thing though - I'm v fussy.

Either something I already use and love, or something too expensive that I want to try.

Not a Boots own whiff of the week gift basket.

satine · 21/11/2006 13:59

I'd love it, personally, if it is nice stuff and not just cheapo 'last-minute pressie from supermarket' sets!

nailpolish · 21/11/2006 13:59

would you?

shampoo as a p[ressie?

it comes in a lovely leather wash bag too

is it the easy option?

not that she buys ME nice stuff

she always gets me TATT

I'd be chuffed

ComeOVeneer · 21/11/2006 14:00

Agree about things like "the sanctuary" and clinque etc as I tend to use pretty cheapish stuff so it is nice to be pampered. It is also nice to get a coordinated set with perfume so you don't end up smelling like a perfume counter.

saltire · 21/11/2006 14:01

I don't mind. I got a lovely set from Boots, all mediteranean stuff for my birthday from my friend. I love The Sanctuary stuff, but unfortunately it makes me itch.
A couple of years ago SIL got me a hair care set (paul Mitchell? Maybe) I loved it, but since then she has always bought me a little set of white musk shower gel, soap and body lotion, always the same three things in a wee box!

nailpolish · 21/11/2006 14:02

well this is tres posh

i eye it up whenever im in the salon wishing i could buy it for myself

its not a cop out?

so should i get it

OP posts:
saltire · 21/11/2006 14:03

nailpolish · 21/11/2006 14:03

Oh yes, magnolia from M7S, my MIL went through a stage of always buying me that! Only ever a tiny wee box though, with bottles that would do one shower and then be empty.
Having said that, she (MIL) loves the M&S Royal Jelly, and gets very huffy if us or the BIL/SIL don't get her the biggest gift set of it in the shop

hoxtonchick · 21/11/2006 14:05

if she gets you tat, i'd buy it for yourself & get something else for her....

nailpolish · 21/11/2006 14:18

sometimes i want to do that hoxtonchick

when I was 13 I thought those Body Shop baskets were the ultimate present. All I ever wanted for my birthday was a medium sized basket (I had no aspirations for the large ones - surely they were what you received when you got married or similar? ) filled with a couple of bottles, some soap, bath pearls and loads of shredded tissue. At Christmas I'd hope for one with green tissue and red bath pearls. Sigh.
I imagine my dh would be overjoyed if I was still as easily pleased.

nutcracker · 21/11/2006 14:36

I think it's fine and would be grateful. I only usually have the money to buy toiletries that I have to buy like boring shampoo, deoderant etc and so anything different is nice.

hoxtonchick · 21/11/2006 14:37

do bathpeals still exist do you think?

bluesky · 21/11/2006 14:38

ooh yes, the bath pearls were the ultimate when I was young! Loved them!
