B****r! Waited to order presents now they are out of stock....

I waited to order an xbox 360 from play.com for DH because I wanted to make sure it arrived on a day he wasn't at home. Now that offer (game and extra controller thrown in for £299) is out of stock. Do I look for an alternative elsewhere? It was the best offer I found. Or do I wait and see if it comes back in stock.

Same thing has happened with DS - was going to get him a nintendo from Toysrus and virtually all their offers seem to be out of stock now. Is it just they've had a rush over the weekend and will get more or should I grab while I can from elsewhere.

B**r - thought I was on top of things and now chaos reigns again. More hours spent trawlling the net.

What they didn't have it before and I double checked their website this morning. Grrrrrrrr. Just placed the order with Amazon even though amazon wouldn't accept their own offer code. Might have to see if I can cancel!

Still at least your dh isn't hankering after a PS3! Or is he?
I thought "Yay... got away with buying expensive game's console for christmas" and ds4 ends up getting a 360 for his birthday in Oct and dh wants ps3 for his birthday in March and no matter how much I try to persuade them dh and ds's won't wait for 2 years till they come down in price....

I've never had problems with links, for some reason (although I do always preview message if I do a link, to check it works), but I know some people do - there was a thread here the other day that explained it - might help.

Katherine, have you scrolled down the page? It's the last one on offer. And when you click on buy now it comes up in a little shopping basket at the top on the right.....
I did'nt see it and ended up with two in the shopping basket..

Jackie, I have problems with links where there is a series of underscores in the URL - I've had a few recently where it refuses to work and I have to give up and just post the URL, but then someone else (usually StGeorge ) comes along and does it no probs - I get very frustrated

JanH - don't know about those - maybe ask StG, or MrsBadger, who's better than me at links - not sure why the underscored ones wouldn't work, though.

Blimey. I'm out of breath and shaking after all that. I looked and looked and couldn't see it . Even did a search on their site no joy. Maybe I was just blind. Anyway I went back to google and searched on HMV Xbox 360 and it took me to the page with the offer so shoved it in my basket, went back to amazone deleted my order there and then went back to HMV and paid. Crumbs. What a palaver. Thank-you so much for spotting it. Saved me loads.

What a morning. After play.com sold out I decided to order from LX using the discount codes. But couldn't get any to work so after half an hour in disgust I went back to Amazon. That said if I ordered the xbox I would get a game for £20 so went through it all there but it just wouldn't accept the discount code they game me for the game. In the end after 2 hours of messing about I finally just ordered it only to come back to mumsnet and see this. Oh well better than coming back tonight when the order had been processed.

What I really wanted was the extra controller with a game bonus so I could join in and wouldn't sit on the sofa sulking and regretting my present. Got two games now!

I just placed my Amazonn order and there's a good chance most of it won't turn up until after Christmas (doesn't tell you that until you've ordered and decided how you want them sent.) Fingers crossed they are being overcautious.
