around about the 15th usually?

Quootiepie · 06/11/2006 10:39

about the 10th...

MrsBadger · 06/11/2006 10:48

Second weekend in December, so about the 10th.

Everyone else always seems to get their tree the first weekend in December though, and we have to take home a leftover wonky moulting orphan tree from B&Q and hide its blemishes with love and tinsel - actually last year's was so wonky that DH took it outside and performed Extreme Surgery on the rootball with a spade to get it to stand upright in the pot.

Usually try and wait until 13th as Dd2's birthday is the 12th.

nutcracker · 06/11/2006 10:54

Someone by me has all lights in their windows already

MarsLady · 06/11/2006 10:56

About the 20th December as DS1's birthday is on the 15th. Last year he asked for the decorations to go up earlier so they did.

PrettyCandles · 06/11/2006 10:56

Usually around the last weekend before Xmas.

hulababy · 06/11/2006 11:02

Normally weekend before Christmas.

booge · 06/11/2006 11:04

Christmas Eve

NomDePlume · 06/11/2006 11:05

Always used to put them up on the first Sunday in December when I was a kid, so I've continued with that. Although I think i'll put them up later than that this year. Maybe the following weekend (Sun 10th) ?

TheHighwayCod · 06/11/2006 11:06

why do youw ant to know

Kelly1978 · 06/11/2006 11:11

oh god I hadn't even thoguht about that. Prob around dec 2008 I expect. The dts would demolish the tree and ds1 hates them.

joelallie · 06/11/2006 11:22

Tree goes up the Sunday before Christmas. We go and buy it the weekend before usually. Ivy, holly and tinsel gets wound all over the place on Christmas Eve. A few years ago i hung hundreds of little gold baubles in a circle round the dining room light - looked gorgeous, took bl**dy hours - won't be doing it again.

ledodgyfireworksingedmyeyebrow · 06/11/2006 11:23

We always put ours up on the 7th the reason I do it so early is because it's the anniversary of my dad's death and he loved Christmas so I make the day a happy one instead of sad.

Sugarfree · 06/11/2006 11:26

Weekend before Christmas. If that falls on 23rd/24th so be it.

emily, you ask as though you need to take advice on this?

intergalacticwalrus · 06/11/2006 11:32

We put ours up just after DS1s bday on the 16th.

When I was a wee girl, my parents used to puit the tree up after I went to bed on Xmas eve. It was great comeing downstairs on xmas day to see the house decorated with all my pressies under the tree.

Gobbledispook · 06/11/2006 11:32

Nutty - could that be for Eid? A house just down from us has lights in the windows but I know for a fact that they were for Eid celebrations. It did make me think 'I wonder how many people will point and laugh at them having their Christmas decs up'!

LunarSea · 06/11/2006 12:27

Advent calendar/candle on the 1st, obviously. Odd bits which ds makes at school and brings home - as and when they arrive. Tree and other dec usually 1 or two weekends before Christmas depending which day Christmas is on - so the 15th give or take a day or so.

biglips · 06/11/2006 12:27

usually in the 2nd week of december
