From Father Christmas or from Mummy and Daddy??

My DS is 2.5 so this is the first time I've really bothered with gifts so he has 1 big pressie (balance bike), few smaller ones plus some stocking bits. So, what would you give from FC and what from us? I have separate FC wrapping paper but undecided how to split it so looking for advice.

Also, DD is 9 weeks so whilst I haven't got her anything, should I wrap up some stuff in FC paper in case DS is concerned that FC didn't get her anything?? Or am I massively over thinking this whole thing?!!

Stocking from FC, tree presents from us. Stocking presents will include chocolate coins, books, small bits and pieces. Proper pressies are all under the tree.

DS will be three weeks old. He also has a stocking mainly so DD (2.6) doesn't think FC has forgotten him. I doubt DS will notice a thing.

my rule is big stuff and anything that might not work or might need to be swapped for a different size is not from Father Christmas. And he always uses the cheapest of cheap red and white paper, eg 19p a roll from Asda/Tesco so the gifts don't end up in the wrong place.

I put no "from" on the gifts for children - just their name so they know who it's for. Solves the "who its from" issues.

Gifts in the stocking from Santa. Everything else from whoever they're from.

Dc usually get one big and few others from us and one bigish and stocking from santa.

I'd give one smaller one from father Christmas and yes I'd give dd a little something from father Christmas too.

My children always split their Christmas list so half is from Santa and half from us. Agree with above post... Anything that might need returning is from us rather than Santa! We use separate wrapping paper and I print labels for their sacks from the computer so no risk of 'that handwriting looks like yours mummy'

One present from FC. Everything else from whomever it's from. V important they learn to thank the actual gift givers imo.

Someone asking that we say one small thing is from santa - the rest from us. How else do you explain to a child whose family don't have much to give that santa brought Johnny down the road an x box but only brought you a cheap toy?

From the presents we buy, only 1 is from us as we realised they might think we bought everyone a present except them - rest is without a tag, so they will assume its from FC.
Presents from family members comes with a tag , so they can thank them.

Everything we buy is from Father Christmas apart from a book & pjs we give on xmas eve. Stuff from other people is from who ever bought it

Everything we buy comes from Santa, but presents from others come from them.

In our household Father Christmas brings everything, however parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc send him money to make sure that he has enough to get everything on the list plus surprises. Father Christmas brings the special big present wrapped in really beautiful paper with bows etc.

I don't get this whole some presents from Father Christmas and some presents from mummy and daddy thing. When I was a kid all presents were from mummy and daddy, and Father Christmas was the delivery guy.

Presents from relatives are under the tree , we buy them new pjs, a DVD and book for Christmas Eve, everything else is from Father Christmas.

We do tree presents from us, family and friends, and stocking presents from Santa. I saw that post on Facebook too feelingunsupported

I do understand the idea behind the Facebook thing, the problem is if you have always said fc buys all the stuff how do you suddenly change what you tell the kids?
I have to say in my dds school we are definitely at the lower end of the wealth scale yet dd gets far more than the kids with the very wealthy parents.

FC brings the sack (or stocking) which contains smaller items like chocolate, hair clips, toy cars, bubble bath. Then mummy and daddy give one bigger present (actually this year my eldest two have an extra one to share.)

I totally disagree with that FB thing (woman frankly needs more to worry about). Families have done the santa/ family split differently for ever and kids overlook it in their wish to believe in FC. My family were "bits and pieces from Santa" and rest were from who they're from. My friend at school got everything from Santa. So when we were 6 I got some chocolate coins and some crayons and she got a (real) pony. Didn't occur to me that FC liked her more than me. In their hearts I think most kids know that FC isn't real, but they choose to believe and therefore disregard any evidence to the contrary. Adults SO overthink this stuff.

Everything we buy is from FC, presents from friends/family are from them. So far they haven't asked why Mummy and Daddy don't get them nothing but everyone else does!!

I don't understand why FC would deliver presents but not make/buy them. It just makes him Yodel and why send stuff miles away to have it sent back? And why does FC need the money - again, toysRUs is probably nearer and quicker.

all presents are from FC except for those from outside the house like aunties etc.
However last year DD complained that everyone except mummy and daddy had given her presents

It's about half and half here but different coloured wrapping paper to distinguish. I also do different colours for each child so even if the label falls off I know who's is whose

When ds (5) asked why we buy presents for other people rather than FC doing it all i said FC started it and everyone thought it was such a lovely idea we all wanted to join in!!

fc stuff left upstairs, anything downstairs is family/us. fc brings a gift bag of small treats so this year book,bath things, stamper sets, make up,pens - depending who it's for obviously :)

DS is nearly 4 so this year we decided we had to get our story straight as myself and DH had totally different stories told when younger. For DH everything was from FC. For me everything has been sent to FC by parents. I like DH's story more as agree that mine turned the big man into Yodel!
So... all presents under the tree when we get up on Christmas morning are from FC apart from one which will be from us. I'm thinking this will help with the fact that he might discover a wrapped present before Christmas Day in the future when he's close to that magical side ending and we can buy another year of semi belief with that bring the one that's from us!
All gifts brought by family members wanting credit for their gifts are from them. This should allow us to start the thank you card tradition with him also.
