My DS is 2.5 so this is the first time I've really bothered with gifts so he has 1 big pressie (balance bike), few smaller ones plus some stocking bits. So, what would you give from FC and what from us? I have separate FC wrapping paper but undecided how to split it so looking for advice.

Also, DD is 9 weeks so whilst I haven't got her anything, should I wrap up some stuff in FC paper in case DS is concerned that FC didn't get her anything?? Or am I massively over thinking this whole thing?!!

1 small present from FC and the rest from us / family; why should FC get all the credit ha ha Grin

bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 21/12/2014 08:09

Most gifts are from Santa, one from us and other people's gifts are from them. I have wondered about Santa getting all the credit and us just producing one mediocre gift each but it's so much more magical for them and it won't last, once they know Santa isn't real I know they will appreciate the effort I went to to make it magical and special for them. Plus credit or not, seeing them so excited and their little faces on Christmas morning when they think a magical man has given them all these lovely things is thanks enough Smile

Stocking and a couple of smaller gifts from Santa. Biggest present plus a few others from us.

JustTryEverything · 21/12/2014 08:28

Wow - thanks everyone. That's just about every combination there is then!! I remember the excitement of coming down on Xmas morning to see a pile of 'extra' presents - I suppose my own thinking is that if FC only brings the stocking then there's not as much resting on the whole "he's been!!!' moment. So I'm gonna do the bike from us and the rest from FC.

Oooh I am sooooo excited this year!!!

FC sent a letter to our ds's this year explaining that since Mummy has now gone back to work he will be giving them their stocking presents plus one other gift. Mummy and Daddy will now buy gifts and send to FC who will deliver them on Xmas Eve if they have been good enough and if not he delivers them to other good children who don't have much. Ds's are 4/6 and seemed to accept that explanation (previous years everything was from FC)

One present from FC the rest from mummy and daddy in our house.

DD is 5 and we decided that when writing to FC she can only ask for one thing (because there are so many children he can't do more than 1 per child Wink ) and she always gets that one thing this year is a 2ds (she asked for ds but is getting a 2ds)

Then we just get what we can afford for the rest she has 50+ presents this year mummy got a little carried away as it will be the last Christmas for her as a only child DD2 is due Feb.

As dd gets older I will tell her that her stocking is from father Christmas and under the tree presents are from me or whoever actually gave them

PumpkinPie2013 · 21/12/2014 19:07

My ds is only 1 so this isn't an issue yet Smile

When I was a child, all presents were from mummy and daddy, nana and grandad, Aunty etc

However, we were told that the people the presents were from had to pay FC for them and he brought them.

It meant the magic was there but we also had an understanding of the fact that things had to be paid for.

FC brings the stockings which contain small gifis, chocs, stationery, games, puzzles etc. Then downstairs he brings all of the gifts apart from a couple from mummy and daddy. The children then get gifts from relatives/family friends.

Stocking presents from Santa

Credit for the 'good stuff' to the giver

MiscellaneousAssortment · 22/12/2014 03:49

I'm doing stocking mostly from Father Christmas, and a couple of small presents from me thrown on the top, and then a couple of 'big' presents from his list (dinosaur &a cowboy outfit), and the rest from me.

I should have done the stocking entirely from FC but my parents always get ds loads of stockin presents which must be credited to them, so it got more complicated!

Rinkydinkypink · 22/12/2014 04:27

Main present from FC. Some stocking things might be added by him. The rest is from us. If the main present from FC is expensive we sometime have to substitute him financiallyWink which means we give less.

meglet · 22/12/2014 04:49

Stocking gifts from Santa, bubble baths, pencils, choc coins etc. Nothing wrapped because Santa doesn't have time to wrap millions of presents.

Under the tree gifts all from people who bought them.

SootInMySack · 22/12/2014 06:34

When I was a kid, all the presents were from Santa and I found the whole thing magical, when dp was little his mum said to him, 'we've bought all the presents and Santa delivers them' (which I'm not keen on really) we decided to do our own tradition of stocking/sack from Santa which includes book, dvd, puzzle and the usual stuff and one main present each from santa. The rest is from us and family. But Santa delivers it all! I feel this is a happy medium, just make your own traditions Xmas Smile
