Worst secret santa ever

I have ended up with a young man, who I only know to say, 'Hello' to in the corridor. I'm pretty sure that he doesn't drink. Budget is a fiver - what on earth do I buy? Arghhhh - usually I really enjoy choosing a gift but this year, I'm stumped.

Nice chocolates or biscuits. Worse case scenario, he can regift. He probably won't be expecting anything life changing, tbh.

Or scratch cards, or one of those table quiz things?

SouthernOne · 24/11/2014 20:34

matalan have some mugs with initials on for £2.00, you could pack one out with hot choc, marshmallows etc

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2014 20:53

Yurgh to that, Patrick. Absolutely no to so called 'jokey' crap generally.

Mug idea a good one maybe.

Thanks, folks.

Thermal mug and if there's any money left some coffee or teabags.

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 24/11/2014 21:01

We had one once where each person had to open the gift in front of everyone else and then guess out loud who it was from. Excruciating. Thank goodness I'm not in one this year.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2014 21:08

Thinking of it, I don't think I've ever seen him drinking a hot drink either.

A tie or cuff links?

MsAspreyDiamonds · 24/11/2014 21:13

We played bad santa last year where we could swap & upgrade our original gift. Was fun. I would buy him a coffee card or a mini game.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2014 21:14

Tie or cufflinks for just a fiver would be pretty awful ones though, I think, no?

AllMimsyWereTheBorogoves · 24/11/2014 21:21

Some ideas here. Many might be useful for someone you knew much better. Apart from scratchcards, the only one I can see being even remotely possible in your circs is the hollowed out book thing but I don't think I'd chance it.

CheckpointCharlie · 24/11/2014 21:29

Cool socks? DH loves these... Well he will when he gets a load for Christmas!

Something from Lush

Shower gel

Gloves

Sweets

makemineapinot · 24/11/2014 22:14

Lynx gift set? Gregg's £5 voucher - ds is getting one in his stocking and I know it will be one of his top presents!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/11/2014 18:10

I must be really awkward. These ideas just aren't working for me. Nobody over the age of 17 wears Lynx, do they? And I'd feel really weird giving shower gel to a man I barely know.

Sock link not working, but could be an idea.

Think it'll end up being sweets or chocolates, but it seems such a cop-out.
