I'm sure there was a similar thread but I can't find it.

My DS is tricky to buy for and this year I'm stumped.
He really wants a globe but my inlaws are getting that, and he likes lego, but still has some left from his birthday to make.
We have a train set and playmobil but it barely gets played with.

We limit screen time as it has a terrible effect on him, so no tablet.

Please help!! What are you getting yours?

I have already bought mine a second had DSi XL (mainly for use on long car journeys).
He has asked for Lego Chima and a Jelly Maker thing he has seen advertised on TV.

He will also get a new torch, a game of 2 for his DSi, tickets to a show/panto, books and his stocking.

The playtiles look just as good. I got those

Purpleflamingos · 11/11/2014 13:48

Hot wheels
Turtles
Lego
Play food (to share with the new play kitchen and his sister that's a joint present from Santa)
Arts and crafts box (paintbrushes, paints, a few craft sets, play doh)
Labyrinth (not the jnr version. He already has all the board games his 7yr old cousin plays and beats her).
A new scooter
Something sciencey - a crystal growing set, or magnet set..
Papo/schleich knights, dragons and a castle (the castle is another joint present, his sister wants fairies and unicorns with magic powers like Elsa).
Air hockey game
Superhero/turtle outfit

That's it so far.
He really wants the teksta puppy or the dinosaur too.

Quenelle · 11/11/2014 14:51

DS will be 5.6 at Christmas. So far he is getting:

Character Building Dr Who Dalek set compatible with Lego
Dr Who Top Trumps Tardis collectors tin
Uno
Monopoly Junior

ILs have bought him something Lego Technics

I'm toying with getting him another dress-up: cyberman or stormtrooper perhaps. He loves the Superman one he got for his birthday.

He mostly plays with Lego so I will get some bits and bobs, like baseplate etc.

I will also get him a pack of books. I got him a pack of books about the solar system last year and they are still his favourites. He's not keen on fiction at the moment but I will look for something inspiring.

Thanks OP. This thread has really helped me concentrate my mind a bit! Flowers

Those whose DC love Imaginext, we have got the Batcave this year, what would you recommend to go with it? Am hoping by having two Batman related toys the DC won't squabble over it!

Quenelle · 11/11/2014 16:34

We got DS the Batcave last year and GPs got him the Batmobile and Joker tank to go with it. Would they play with them altogether?

Just reread DS's Christmas list and he's asked for a marble run. If I get him one that'll be pretty much him finished, except for stocking and pyjamas.

DB is making him an Ironman suit (metal plated, full-on voice changing, light up mask, arc reactor etc etc) so tbh everything else is going to be ignored Grin Grin

quenelle Some from EBAY, some from amazon....but it is expensive!

McGlashan · 14/11/2014 09:36

I nipped onto this thread as I have a 6 year old Ds and I haven't a clue. The only thing he has asked for is a My Little Pony house and I was thinking it was bit odd- mostly because MLP is shit not because it's aimed at girls. I am really heartened to see other people's DS's asking for this. What is the attraction?

schmeegle · 14/11/2014 09:57

My 5yo DS is getting:

Screwball Scramble
Snap Circuits Junior
Peers Hardy Maze Racer
Rush Hour Jr
Zingo Bingo 123
Marble Run add ons
4 Books

Small Stocking

Contemplating adding a tiny nerf gun.....

He has lots of lego and isn't interested in any role play type games like playmobil. He's more board game oriented.

Re MLP, don't know what it is about it, my two DS love it too.

Hurricaneinateacup · 14/11/2014 10:44

My magna tiles have arrived!
The box is tiny (but heavy) it does not look like it cost £100. Maybe £30.
However I've got them out and had a quick go with them and they seem pretty good. I was worried the magnets wouldn't be that strong but you can definitely build towers and castles and stuff with them. I hope ds likes them! If not I will resell on eBay. I might get some battery operated tealights and then we can light his buildings. That'd look pretty cool in the dark I think.
