Oxfam have fab wooden toys and fair trade sweets and chocolates.

WideWebWitch · 02/10/2006 20:55

So, you got your Christmas topic hey enid? Are you happy now, are you, are you?

I will add:
Whoopee cushion, only 99p or something and endless amusement of the 'why don't you sit down mummy' variety
tiny books for littlies

BettySpaghetti · 02/10/2006 20:55

LOL Bubble -I guess it is quite a "quiet" list (other than the fart putty which had more use Christmas Day than everything else put together!)

bubble99 · 02/10/2006 20:57

Enid. I'm a bit at you being able to buy beads/Polly Pocket type stuff.

I'm destined for a life of dinosaurs.

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 20:58

can I recommend (though tis pricy for a stocking) the game 20Q (basically an electronic 20 questions). It asks you 20 questions, you just press yes, no, sometimes, unknown and it guesses what you were thinking of.

This has provided hours of entertainment for my two and is perfect for a child who can read (to play it on their own) or slightly younger (with your help). Lots of friends who come to our house play with it for ages (especially the parents!).

Another good stocking thing last year was an electronic spinning top that counts how many times you spin it round - I thought this was great but forgot that uber competitive dh and ds would play it for hours on end to beat each others (and my) score ggrrrr V good for boys though!

bubble99 · 02/10/2006 20:59

Chamomile. Thanks for that.

bubble99 · 02/10/2006 21:01

Foxy. DS1 would love that. Do you know where I can buy it?

GetInTheBackOfTheVan · 02/10/2006 21:03

I did a sort of smash and grab in the Entertainer in Kingston last year so got most things there

I think I got the electronic spinning top off the web. Do you want me to look for it?

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 21:14

here's 20Q

bubble99 · 02/10/2006 21:17

dinosaur.

At least you maintain your rigid/bendy plastic shape. As a tube of bubbles I am resigned to spillages/being blown into eyes/ being half-heartedly refilled with washing up liquid and water......And then thrown away.

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 21:21

it's called I-top - here is the I-top Pro on amazon

tbh, it has loads of modes, most of which we never figured out how to use properly as dh and ds were too busy trying to outdo each other for number of spins (lol at the review where it says her husband took it off her children and the kids hardly got a look in!)

foxinsocks · 02/10/2006 21:24

this is the one we have - it flashes the score up on the top as you are spinning it - you probably wouldn't need the more sophisticated one if you could find one of these

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 02/10/2006 22:19

foxinsocks - you are so right. Bentall Centre from November onwards is hell. Maybe Edam has a point. We should get started now.

novelty drinking straw
packets of sequins/sparkly bits for making collages with

CorpseBride · 02/10/2006 23:03

Letterbox have small fish/dinosaur or alien in a box, you add water and it swells up. Sounds crap. So DCs will love it. £2.50.

Santa never forgets the marshmallows.

And proper Sugar Mice.

handlemecarefully · 02/10/2006 23:27

Can't be arsed to read whole thread - has anyone mentioned 'bath tints'(the tablets that colour bath water)?

arfishymeau · 03/10/2006 00:00

Genius thread. Well done Enid. I am in full Christmas preparation mode.

Any one else getting the playmobil Advent Calendar? I'm stalking them on Ebay like a panther watching a rabbit.

Last year DD got:

Satsuma
Little pack of 6 Angelina Ballerina Books
Heart shaped post it notes in glittery fairy bag
Chocolate coins (am upgrading to Enids Reindeer this year)
Bag of farm animals with trees/fences etc
Sparkly shakers for dancing
Penguin from Madagascar

Think that's it. For this year I'm stealing the lego idea, Enids Reindeer, whoopee cushion and the novelty straw.

Re 20Q. I tried it and it didn't get nipple.

CorpseBride · 03/10/2006 00:20

The small Mr Men shaped bubble baths.

My DC's (all under 4 at the time) knew what these were. Their cousin, aged a whopping bloody great 8, tried to EAT hers!!!
