Who's hoping to get a slot for Harrods Santa's Grotto this year then?

The time is almost here! Upset they're not going allowing members of mini harrods the first day priority booking this year so crossing my fingers we get a slot as we're really busy this year!

Let's all cross our fingers together Grin

All the Saturdays have gone so we won't be doing it

Could you post the booking link please?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 15:20

So any other suggestions of what we can do?!

Just managed to book and they had 6pm on the first Saturday. We will just do food first, then Santa before we go home. My six year old will probably fall asleep on the train home and my 5 month old won't know anyway. This year was not as easy as other years though.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 15:42

6 would be no good for us as ds is asleep by 6:30. It wouldn't be worth it. At least we have chessington but I booked that for a weekday thinking dp could come to the London one with us.

We are down in london the last week in november.
The only slot left was 7pm sat 29th, so we have gone with 11am on Monday the 1st.
Am so so excited :-)

They asked childs name and age but not gender so am assuming gifts will be non gender specific (which I like) anyone who has been before, what did your child receive?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 15:56

Last year it was a 'book' and small chocolate. Oh and a badge.

I can't believe all the Saturdays are gone! All the Sundays were too. Dd's at school now so no chance of weekday slots.

I'm guessing all the prime weekend dates are reserved for the tiers higher up than we greens :-)
Could be wrong though.

Loue79 · 10/09/2014 16:04

I would say they have all gone as booking started yesterday. They are also offering the different experiences so tea time at 40 pounds will have better times I would think. I struggled a few years ago but dd was not at school then so went midweek.

middlings · 10/09/2014 16:07

I've just found this thread by accident and am quite pleased as I was thinking of doing this this year for the first time as DD1 will be 2.7. DD1 will only be 15 months so won't really get it.

When we went in the mid/late-80s (used to be taken out of school Shock) you just went and queued up for about three hours I seem to remember. It cost a fiver and you got a photo (yes, my DPs still have 'em, although thankfully no longer on display) and DM and DF (who used to take the morning off to come, bless him) would buy us a pocket money treat from the toy dept.

I take it things have changed a bit?!?

middlings · 10/09/2014 16:08

DD2 will only be 15 months, obvs.

MissLurkalot · 10/09/2014 16:21

Email arrived at 2.40pm.. Didn't check email until 4pm!!! Buggeration!
What a difference to last year! All weekend slots gone already!
Thankfully we've got a school inset day and we've gone for Thursday 27 th Nov at 6.30. We're 2 hrs away but have been for the past 3 years.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 10/09/2014 16:25

How is everyone getting their booking link?

Are any sundays left?

KnittedJimmyChoos · 10/09/2014 16:28

What the fuck, whats wrong with Harrods, for fuck sake.

I think we should all write to them and complain, I am sorry but Harrods Grotto is an institution its ridiculous so many people have been cut out of it due to not spending hundreds of pounds in the Quatari Store Angry.

MamaDoGood · 10/09/2014 16:29

Got mine today at 15.30, a 6.30pm slot on 16/12/2014 so will have an early dinner in London and take the children to see the lights after Smile
Love Christmas!

Loue79 · 10/09/2014 16:36

I do believe they should give priority to people who have been in previous years. It is an institution that many of us have made into a tradition. I am just glad that I managed to get some which around school and DH shift work is always a nightmare. Those who don't have priority booking don't stand a chance.

KnittedJimmyChoos · 10/09/2014 16:50

I disagree Lou, that's not fair either!

They should just make the booking fair.

Loue79 · 10/09/2014 16:59

On other years (except last year) the booking site has crashed and been out for a couple of hours. They do give some priority with the reward card. I meant to add previously that priority for previous years (for people who turned up) would at least allow those who have been going for years to get a choice. No doubt with allowing mini harrods last year some of their customers (who spends lots more than us) did not get a space hence the change this year.

Thelighthousekeeper · 10/09/2014 17:22

It appears that all weekends are now full unless you are also booking the Harrods tea which is still showing weekend availability!! ??

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 17:26

Oh there's a surprise Hmm I reckon that's what it is, the qty of slots for normal visits has decreased.

One way of filling up the afternoon tea slots!

KnittedJimmyChoos · 10/09/2014 18:18

In no way shape or form is it fair that they are giving priority to people who spend more.

Harrods is a British Institution. Its part of our culture.

Its not right that people of the UK are priced out of Fathers Christmas's Grotto.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 19:19

Might go to drusillas instead looks good (although expensive!)

I'm on hold trying to get through as I think the website is down or something...everytime I log in it tells me I've encountered an error Confused anyone know when the schools finish for the hols? will try and book before they break up to leave slots for schoolers as we can go anytime...

SpottyTeacakes · 10/09/2014 19:45

Dd breaks up on the Friday before Christmas, the 19th?
