I just got my despatch email from George. My Elsa dress is finally on the way. Good luck everyone else who ordered.

Methenyouplus4 · 29/08/2014 09:22

Was on the Jules eBay outlet this morning and they had new stock/ some stock had changed price. I was debating a dress for myself and when I went to order 20 minutes later it had went up by £20! Moral of story (depending on my mood) : stop spending on myself / quick, get it while it's cheap!

I couldn't get the tassimo via quidco either! Funnily enough quidco were offering 12% cashback and 10% off orders from tassimo so not surprised they wouldn't indulge our bargainious ways humbugs x

My aliexpress masks have just arrived! I'm seriously impressed with them. The only issue I have is that they smell very chemically. This makes me nervous about giving them to kids as they will be so close to their faces. I never gave that any consideration when I ordered them but now I'm worried that the paints etc used obviously aren't tested to UK standards so don't know whether I should give them to my boys. Am I being really irrational? X

Ainmnua · 29/08/2014 10:38

I think I'd be feeling the same as you Buddy

freedom2post · 29/08/2014 10:43

I'd be a but worried as well.

My advice is trust your instinct. If something is telling you its not safe then don't take the risk.

BuddyKringleberry · 29/08/2014 10:46

I've just been googling and I'm not going to give them as I don't like what I see online about metals etc in the paint. I wouldn't be so concerned if they didn't smell so strongly. Oh well, can't win them all x

MabliHeulwen · 29/08/2014 10:58

Have been lurking as nothing to add, but had to come on to sing the praises of the aliexpress cuddly frozen dolls - got the 40cm pair for £8.03 and they've arrived this morning after 10 days! Am delighted Grin

TeWiSavesTheDay · 29/08/2014 11:27

If the masks are dodgy, is there a need to be concerned about what the dolls/soft toys might be filled with?

Obviously it's up to everyone what they choose to buy but if they are counterfeit as opposed to cheap-from-china there's always a risk that they aren't safe.

Browneyesblue · 29/08/2014 11:37

Buddy could the smell just be from manufacturing/packaging? Do you think it might be better in a day or 2? It sounds a shame.

If not, perhaps you could remove the straps and use the masks decoratively?

BuddyKringleberry · 29/08/2014 11:50

I hope the cuddly dolls will be ok, everyone seems really pleased with them so I'm hopeful! The smell is definitely coming from the masks, they were only put in plastic sandwich bag type things and packed in cardboard Sad Good idea about using them decoratively though, seems such a waste to chuck them as they look fab!! X

I've just heard back from the seller of the masks. She told me they have passed EN71 test and to let them air for a day or two. Would you believe her? Hmm x

Elvish · 29/08/2014 12:09

Buddy, I think I would let them air and then decide. Nothing to loose by waiting a few days.

10storey I have just received these Frozen pump bags which I'm happy with. They are small and not that robust but could be nice if she goes to school or swimming lessons? I was planning to use as gift bags if the quality wasn't great, but they will do for school pump bag and I might use the others for gifts.

WeHateAmy · 29/08/2014 12:21

Buddy Could you wipe the masks down with a cloth and warm water and then leave them to air somewhere they won't be found?

I have a parcel to collect at the post office. Apparently it was too big for my letter box, although it was actually delivered next door yesterday, so really too big for their letter box. I was in all day. They brought the card round this morning. Just off to see what it is Smile

Browneyesblue · 29/08/2014 12:22

I don't know much about it - I just liked the look of the masks when you linked to them!

The reason I wondered whether they'd smell better in a day or two is because last year I bought some Pampers (same as I'd always bought), and they reeked. It was a really chemically/acetone sort of smell, and it was overpowering. Pampers had me send a sample back to them and said it was from the manufacturing process - that they were newly off the line, so had an odour (understatement!) Not the same as your situation, but it made me wonder.

If they are nice quality, and you decided not to give them as masks, they might look good mounted as a set in IKEA Ribba box frames for superhero themed decor

curlingandtwirling · 29/08/2014 12:23

I love this thread! 117 days and counting!

Not sure if this is useful, 40% off The Body Shop, code TBS40.

I am looking for Thomas the Tank Engine bargains. Rushed to Sainsbury's as I was told they have 50% off, but nothing left.

BuddyKringleberry · 29/08/2014 12:37

Fab idea about the ikea frames, thank you!

I will wipe them down and air them, fingers crossed they will be ok as my boys would love them!

That's interesting about the pampers, makes me feel a bit better x

Scaredycat3000 · 29/08/2014 12:45

Were they the light up eyes superhero masks Buddy? If so my boys have been using theirs for nearly a year with no visible ill effects.

wigglesrock · 29/08/2014 12:47

I was in my local "big" Tescos today and they had the Elsa Barbie type doll in stock for 17.00, they also had an Elsa costume for 13.50, it's lovely, nicer than some of the others I've seen and it looks like it might be less likely to fray around the bottom. It might be worth checking Tesco Direct if anyone is on the lookout!

Barbeasty · 29/08/2014 12:54

Has anyone successfully ordered 2 of the Tassimo machines?

I ordered one for BIG, then DH decided he'd like one too. I've put the 2 orders in, had order confirmation emails for both, but just seen in the ts & cs that it's one per person/ delivery address. Did both in my name to my home, so not sure if 1 will suddenly be cancelled.

If i know it works I'll leave it, if I know it won't I could order another elsewhere (or get DH to have one delivered elsewhere using his card). But with the offer running out soon it's a risk....
