GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 17:39

Funnily enough it was you that I suspected had the fb site.

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 18/06/2014 17:44

Daddykyller has posted loads of stuff on these threads, especially when they started winding down after the main Christmas rush.

I don't care where they come from, if they're benefitting people then that's only a good thing.

GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 17:49

So have I under name changes. Original ones that I'm pissed off with being ripped off, more noticeably this year.

I now know what to do.

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 17:49

Goth I am on that fb site as well, I haven't really used it yet and haven't posted on there but why is it a problem that Daddykyller does?

Also why on earth would you name change and stop posting?

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 18/06/2014 17:51

What's being ripped off? Confused

BrucieTheShark · 18/06/2014 17:57

Oh fgs is this the same person as last year.

Honestly, some people just have no concept of the internet at all do they? Does 'going viral' sound familiar? But you're right, if you keep all your bargains to yourself they will stay secret

Until someone else notices them and they will get everywhere.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/06/2014 18:00

I'm not really on this thread yet, was last year but I just came across this on amazon. Another cheap necklace for a little girl (sorry if it's already been posted!)

GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 18:02

Nope not the same person as last year :S

It's okay, I'll step away.

I truly have loved reastie's threads though. It's just at juxtapositions for me when journalists are frowned upon for pinching news fodder but here is okay. I did say I could be wrong.

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 18:04

Hello Spotty my youngest daughter will love that, thank you very much...When will you be joining us again officially?

SpottyTeacakes · 18/06/2014 18:05

I think I may have been sucked in Blush it's like a cult Wink

I must repeat 'it's only a bargain if I need it'

JaquelineHyde · 18/06/2014 18:07

Or if it's really, really cheap then it's always a bargain Grin

daddykyller · 18/06/2014 18:12

ok I really am baffled now lol.
But what I am baffled about, is what do some people think bargain sharing threads like this are for- if not to share bargains, deals, vouchers and stuff like that?

daddykyller · 18/06/2014 18:22

If we are not supposed to be "ripping off" other places, it will take a hell of a long time next time I want to post something. It'll be like " I found an amazing bargain that ends at midnight- hold on before I post it- need to check 2462 facebook abrgain pages to see it's not on there first. Might take a couple of days..."

Or maybe no one is allowed to read these ages on MN s that bargains don't get posted anywhere else. Or incase it subliminally goes into their heads and then gets re-posted on a similar site or fb page.

Or is it because someone is pissed off that a certain facebook page/group has seen some of it's best stuff "ripped off" and posted on here? And that's what all the fuss is about maybe?

I really don't know

In my view a bargain is a bargain wherever it is found, and it should be share and share alike so we can all take advantage where possible. The only places I wouldn't share things around on are places like hot uk deals who would then ensure there is no stock left for anyone else.

ipswichwitch · 18/06/2014 18:23

Eeee! Just been on that Facebook page GrownupGoth linked to and someone copied and pasted my post about the debenhams sale onto it (tweren`t me, don't do fb anymore).
Is this what the issue is? And if so why is it an issue? Surely if, as someone said, you would tell friends and family about a particular bargain, what the difference with sharing it on the internet? And why do I even care?!?!?!!!?

Now, while I'm here, I'm looking for good deals on happyland stuff for DS2 (for my own gratuitous use!). Ta in advance :)

GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 18:26

So you don't think if you do the time and research it's okay?

I could be being precious, who knows.

daddykyller · 18/06/2014 18:46

I'm sure some of the things I've found and posted on one fb group will appear on another. If it bothered me I wouldn't post anything just in case it got 'stolen'. Same with here. I am positive something I've put on here will have appeared somewhere else. And very possible something I've put somewhere else has probably appeared on here via someone else.

If it bothered me I wouldn't be posting on the internet for all to see :)

I just saw this on a fb page if anyone cares. 30% off all dresses, shoes and accessories at Boden:

www.boden.co.uk

nickdrakeslovechild · 18/06/2014 18:51

yes GrownupGoth I am afraid you are being precious. Nobody cares if someone has done hours of research or just stumbled on a bargain. The whole point of this thread is bargains end of.

Also putting a shirty comment like "Whole set as previously posted by someone on this thread" when someone like Spotty who was on this thread a lot last year, is not going to win you any friends.

Can we now get back to the usual nice happy and barginous nature of the thread please.

nickdrakeslovechild · 18/06/2014 18:53

Sorry if that comes across as rude, but it makes me sad that a nice thread like this can go silly.

BrucieTheShark · 18/06/2014 18:55

It only takes one person in the whole universe (which is pretty big I think) to copy and paste every post on here onto a FB page or bargain website.

You cannot prevent that.

If it gets to the point that the bargains on here go virtually instantly, it will die out.

Then someone might start a thread with a different type of title, perhaps in a different section and that will survive for a while.

Again, that's how the internet works, it's just a fact whether we like it or not.

GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 18:58

Of course you can... Just trying to give fair dues. I felt the same last year too. I have been a member since 2007, so not new. I posted loads last year also.

I won't be posting again under any guise, so enjoy your bargainous nature of the thread. I'll just lurk and steal bargains like so many others, no harm huh?

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 18/06/2014 19:02

How is it stealing bargains?! Confused

If a bargain posted is good for you then take it up. Really don't understand what the fuss is about.

WaitingForMe · 18/06/2014 19:03

I had a parcel today. Made a big error - should have bought finger lights for DH as well as the kids Grin

GrownupGoth · 18/06/2014 19:06

Someone who is obviously on here, making a professional (wrong word maybe but official?) page out of bargains that people post on this thread... literally.

It just doesn't seem right to me... Maybe a lack of business acumen, but I know now :)

leavesalmondoutofit · 18/06/2014 19:17

Oh my goodness children children. Do settle down. I only persisted with mumsnet after heartbleed because of this thread. Not just for bargains but because there is generally no squabbling or oneupmanship on it.

Sprinkling some Christmas glitter and turning on the sparkly lights to calm the atmosphere Sad
